- [*NOTE* - ran into some issues on this video. There was unfortunately an audio sync issue and my facecam is a few seconds behind the game recording. It's mostly not too noticeable but it explains why my reactions feel slightly delayed. Also Trailmakers was hitching a lot more than usual during this recording. It only seems to happen when I'm recording multiplayer and I'm still trying to troubleshoot. Hopefully I can figure out how to minimize it going forward. Thanks for watching anyway!]
Welcome to another episode of Trailmakers! Today we are doing tanks vs helicopters! This time around the helicopters will be using rockets without any aim assist! Where the rockets land will be 100% up to the helicopter pilot's skills! Who's tank can make it the furthest?

Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

Yzuei based his builds off of real life things while Scrapman just make the weirdest of creation. Truly a great duo.

I just like how ScrapMan's combat vehicles (in Trailmakers) are more often than not a "function first" mindset. They're all built to do their job and do it well.
He is a function over form kind of builder he don't care how it looks as long as it does its job
I feel like this is the way to do it. Real life stuff do it as well. Their form is mostly a byproduct of their function

Yuzei accidentally hooking your tank up is a good idea for a challenge! One person has a slow moving 'package' & the other is a drone trying to hook up the package and take it away, might be fun with multiple people as the drones fighting over the package

I love how Yzuei bases his weaponized builds off of real life military vehicles. He’s made a B-52, an Apache, and now a Flakpanzer. As a military fanatic, this makes me really happy.

Meanwhile Scrapman decides to make his own designs that are efficient and practical.
Basically Creativity and Practicality is better than Inspiration

Why, the game has no real thrill to it and vehicles are all wobbly and jarring on the eye's for that reason. I'd rather not watch that.
You guys should do a helicopter chase but with more people less powerful vehicles (less complexity) for a real mad max later fast and furious movie feel
the new trailmakers update makes EVERYTHING related to air combat super epic and satisfying. Also, a challenge with more players would be really fun!

I have to say, the devs did a really good job balancing the weapons
I see a way you could have saved some complexity you could swap from a hing per shield to 1 or 2 per row of shields would have saved probly 30 or 40 complexity points maybe more
It doesn’t help that Yzuei’s chopper’s center of mass was right at the helicopter engines, and auto-aim goes for the center of mass-
If you actually read the title you would know that there is no auto aim
@@Toyman2K12 Scrapman’s tank was using auto-aim. The helicopters they used weren’t, but if you want the video you will notice that Scrapman’s tank’s miniguns actively aimed at Yzuei’s helicopter’s rotors because of center of mass placement

the way your shell disconnected at the end has given me a great idea for a cargo transport design in Space Engineers: the Hermitcrab Cargo System! A simple, main ship body, with a detachable and swappable cargo "shell" to allow for swapping of cargo types (H2, O2, Power, Cargo) or to allow for dropping off empty "shells" and picking up full ones that are ready for delivery.

What about doing a ground based long range un-guided rocket battle, either shot by shot, or rocket-truck style bombardment would be up to you guys.
You guys should see how many people you can get to join and do a whole vehicle battle. Some in tanks, some in jets/planes, some in helicopters, etc.
I think a dog fighting video where one plane has few high power weapons, while the other has a lot of low power weapons, might be funny. Maybe for balancing, a second rule for that would have to be one plane is fast and the other is slow. In WWII I believe, jets were starting to take off (pun intended) and one issue noted by pilots was that dogfighting was near impossible because they would only have a tiny window to get shots off during a strafe, because the other craft, usually biplanes and single rotors from WWI were so slow.
Scrapman were you allowd to have aim assist on your tank cause your top two minis definitely did

Hey ScrapMan, It would be interesting to create an aircraft with wings in the rear.
An example (in cartoons) of this type of aircraft would be the personage Ishani in the film "Plains" for Pixar.

Scrapman, your aim assist is still on the two top minis on your tank…
The tanks were allowed to have aim-assist.
Yzuei's first mistake was doing a no aim assist challenge with scrapman i mean how many times before the airborne update has scrapman just destroyed people with the guns in trailmakers i mean look at the 4 player drone battle he did, he dominated in that ofc he is gonna have god tier aim with the rockets.

You should do another video with the car in the plane but also the plane so the car lands on top of the plane
So something I haven't seen much but would make any vehicle OP is a frame build. The idea is that the center has a large void that lines up with the center of mass. This build technique takes advantage of the aim assist so the shots can't land a clean hit. It also allows you to simplify the builds complexity because there is significantly less you need to keep protected and you don't need as much weapon redundancy. However, if your opponent can manually aim then your done for, being essentially a ring of vitals anywhere the do hit hurts a lot. Have fun with the idea. I would love to see this exploited in a bigger multiplayer scenario, doesn't have to be too big just don't think it's nearly as fair with just 2 people, unless your opponent can make changes between rounds to attempt to circumvent the winners advantage.
One of them did that in the airship battle a little ways back :)
Ehhh I mean unless you can keep the creation angled towards the opponent at all times so that their shots always go into the void, you would get destroyed quickly.
@theminerboy5694 You make it sound like that would be difficult to do. Perhaps in certain situations it might be little more nuanced in the approach. Take for instance this video's situation of a helicopter chasing a tank. If you set it up so the center of mass is high in the air but the vehicles vitals are all low to the ground then shots are likely to fly over the vehicle, that does impart a disposition to tip over but as long as that mass is centralized as much as possible and the wheel base is wide enough you negate that flaw.
Just like it was mentioned, this technique was used to great effect in the airship battles they did with the devs. The balloons were high above a heavy rod which pulled it's center of mass down to line up with the gap between the balloons and the weighted rod, which did result in most of the shots missing.
Yzuei tank looks like a modern wirbelwind turret on the panther chassis mixed with rosomak chassis
Is there any way to convince Squiddy to attempt one of these challenges or something similar in Scrap Mechanic?

I like how Yzuei's Flakpanzer in this Vid and how fast it died to the enemy air it was supposed to be built to fight was a almost perfect analog to the BF5 Flakpanzer and how fast it dies to enemy air... 🤣
The tiny cannons actually have a small amount of auto aim, but it’s barely visible
I like scrapman's tank more, even in form. Real life things get their form as a byproduct of their function anyway, so making something look realistic in a game doesn't feel like the best solution when you could make something entirely new and better
Yzeui really good at making good design vehicle but scrapman is just op
Please do a Multiplayer Monday with Kan, Moonbo and Kosmo with this concept, though 3 tanks vs 1 helicopter. Keep the power core limit and speed limit on the tanks low to give the helicopter a chance and the player that disables all 3 tanks the fastest wins. I'd love to see everyone's tank designs and how ScrapMan can improve upon this modern DaVinci Tank masterpiece.

6:40 from this side angle I noticed you could probably get rid of 2/3 if the hinges on top and just gave one hinge attached to a 1x1x4 block or something to attach all the shields to.

Yuzie has a 0:17 kd ratio as a heli (if I'm counting correctly, which as someone who counted 1067 of the letter E by hand, I'm sure I have)

Basic Rules: helicopters can attack both enemy helicopter and skybase
Skybases are what each team has to defend, they can have defensive turrets if it touches the ground due to damage from the enemy teams helicopter, their team loses
Each team only has one skybase and helicopter
Please do this with kan and kosmo vs you and yuzie
I realized that Yzuei most likely has come to realize the skill of flying belongs to Scrap. The guys flying with new crafts all the time and aces them, how? Prue unadulterated Skill.

What makes Scrapman's builds better is they have barely any weakness where as Yzuei's build based on real life have tons of weaknesses.

How about an artillery coop competition combo? Two teams comprised of two members that design and test an artillery cannon that can shoot high and far to hit targets on the other side of a hill or similar obstacle. The other team member is your spotter and gives you directions to aim for various targets that have different point values. I think that could be a fun video!
