Public Open House to Begin at Idaho Falls Idaho Temple

- Latter-day Saints in southeastern Idaho are ready to host thousands of visitors to the newly renovated Idaho Falls Idaho Temple. Following more than two years of extensive interior renovation, a public open house is scheduled to begin at the historic temple, located on the picturesque banks of the Snake River. The temple closed in March 2015 for renovations.
Kevin Call is one of the many residents who grew up in the Upper Snake River Valley. “Our family has been in the valley since the turn of the century in the early 1900s. The temple has been a prominent thing for us, not only church wise but community wise. It's been such a monument on the river, a beautiful place,” said Call.
The valley’s first Mormon settlers arrived with the railroad in 1879.
“The Idaho Falls Temple is this grand architectural statement about where the Church wanted [to] be in its next hundred years, as much as the Salt Lake Temple is a statement about where it had been for the last hundred years,” said Emily Utt, historic sites curator for the Church History Department. “We wanted this temple to still feel like it had been built in the 1940s. We didn't want this to feel like a brand-new building.”
All the mechanical and electrical systems in the temple were upgraded. “The team spent lots of time reviewing the historical data that we had on the temple,” said Mark Berry, a project manager for the Church. “The architect and the design teams went back through and picked out the type of materials that [were] prevalent back in the original temple.”
I got to do the youth cultural celebration and loved it!! It was so cool to be a part of it and lots of hard work. I love the temple!

I'm very excited that the Idaho Falls Temple will be open again. And I'm also excited that my hometown of Pocatello Idaho will be getting a Temple.

This is the first temple I was able and old enough to be baptized for the dead, I was 13 years old, I’m 65 now, I’m so Gratful that I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints “! I love and adore, and support President Nelson 100%!!! I know I’m a child of God, He loves me Unconditionally, so does Jesus!! I am so blessed, I never could have made it though my life , without my loving zHeavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ!! I am at Peace!!! I trust God!

This became the first temple dedicated in 1945 in Idaho. As of 2018, there are now 5 operational temples in the state... including an announced temple in Pocatello. Good day to be alive!

It is my recollection that as one leaves the Celestial Room to return to the lower floors of the temple that there was a very large painting of the Savior holding a black sheep/lamb. I can really relate to that. I wonder if it is still there?

I served my Mission in Idaho Boise Mission 1981-1983. One of my areas was Idaho Falls where I served their for 6 months. I wonder if they still do Live Session at the Temple

Just want to make a note, Idaho Falls is not a small town. It is a city that is ranked fourth in city population for the state.

I really think that it is a stupid idea, that we cannot build higher than the temple. The law/government and religion are not supposed to intertwine with each other.
Do many blacks live in that town?
I'm sorry to say this but Mormons will be going to hell for taking Christs glory in vain. The Book of Mormon is not widely accepted as well as the false prophet Joseph smith. What will you say when you stand before God on judgement day? You will be thrown into a lake of fire to burn in hell for eternity. It is not to late to repent to Christ and renew your love in him and the Bible.
