- Trying out a new luxury shaving cream from Dr. Selby. These products have been very popular in Latin America and now they are becoming available in the USA. This is a lavender scent soap in a very cool container. Also using Burberry London by Burberry for Men Aftershave Emulsion (this one was part of a travel kit and appears to be discontinued) and a vintage Gillette Black Beauty Twist to open (TTO) razor. The brush is a Semogue Boar and WSG blade.

Second, thanks for giving the Dr. Selby soap a go. I recently bought a tub and really like it. But I wanted to share its history with you. It goes back a ways, maybe even to before your channel was up and running.
The soap in the seashell tub is a classic. It's been in continuous use as far as I know for many years. It was for sale in the US maybe eight or so years ago. But that was only from a single vendor, and only a few insiders knew about it. Then, for some reason, Dr. Selby decided to stop selling it in the US at the very moment many of us were learning how great it is from Chris Bailey and Michael Freedberg. I certainly couldn't get any, and I'm sure I was not alone.
It was extra frustrating because it made no sense. Dr. Selby is a large company. Its diaper cream may be South America's answer to Desitin, and it sells well in the US. For this reason the abrupt disappearance of the soap landed it on enough bucket lists in the wet shaving community to make the resumption of US sales a big deal. For me it was worth the wait. Ken, to start off your the man. You were the first guy on here that came up that got me into wet shaving which I’ve only picked up about 3 months ago and I will say it has been the best decision I’ve ever made. Im 36 and I’ve already loaded my “shave den” with 4 razors and about 4 different shave soaps/aftershave combos. I hope your loved ones make it through this difficult time and everyone makes it thru in good health! My lady is 7 years younger than me and says I’m getting old because the scents I love are all old classics by companies like PAA and Stirling but I don’t care. Classics are the best…keep making great content and I’ll keep telling my buddies to check out your channel and get into wet shaving!

Looks like I have another soap to put on my wish list. I ordered some Wilkinson Sword (India) blades from Amazon for under $7 including tax. The packaging said they were from India. Those blades are in my rotation along with Nacet and Astra SP. Sorry to hear that your MIL is still having health issues. My prayers to her and her family. We do what we have to do when it comes to our loved ones.

Great shave Ken. Prayer's are going out to you and your family bud. I personally know how bad cancer is. It nearly claimed me 11 years ago in April, 2012 and lung cancer took my dad in 2020.

I wish i could keep it on one setting! I preset my four vintage Gillettes (8-6-4-3) because of slippery fingers. Eight is the first pass (WTG), 6-4 is the 2nd (XTG), 3 is another (XTG) pass. Use the Twig for ATG because its mild (1)!

Great shave. Hope you're doing ok and that your mother-in-law gets better. The only American vendor I know of that sells the Dr Selby cream is Maggards, and it costs $15 there, which is a fair price. Meanwhile, I just bought the 100 packs of Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge and Silver Blue blades to continue using these favorites of mine. Additionally, I got packs of various blades I never tried before that I'm gonna try out in my upcoming shaves. Have a good one and I hope you and your family pull through.
First off, im sorry for the health issues with your mother in law. We lost my wifes mom last year. So, please tell your wife shes in my prayers. Now, the shave was very nice. Ive always thought the black beauty was a great looking razor. Good luck with everything you gave going on right now
