Very funny, touch of Ivor Cutler. Great to hear some George Formby the father of rock n roll. There was the infamous night he played the Ukulele with his teeth (long before Hendrix), I mean with those gnashers it would be rude not to. Also his radical reworking of God Save The King in Scunthorpe, accompanied by Arthur Sixpence on kazoo captured the mood of the people at that time. Then on his seminal album Cracking Tunes he developed a style that was almost a precursor to punk with searing social commentary like Gertie drops her drawers for extra rations. Truly a giant.
This is the birth of the new cool. And the sudden, dramatic ending, fraught with family drama, as the uninvited Finger of Fate puts a sudden and unexpected end to the proceedings, leaving adoring fans everywhere clamoring for the next release! What a finale! - Andy, you are going to have a hard time topping this masterpiece!
Reminds me of being on holiday with some mates in France back in the early 90s. Of course someone had to bring an acoustic guitar and try to play and sing Bob Dylan songs. The rest of us listened to Red Hot Chili Peppers instead! And then there was the time we tried to wake one of the really hungover guys by singing all 10 verses of Desolation Row. We only got to about verse 3 before pillows started flying towards us. That and plenty of verbal abuse! Anyway, thanks Andy for the religious experience I had during your magnificent performance. Wish I could have been there amongst all those cheering fans and shared in the magic. What a shame thought that it had to come to such an abrupt end. So rude!
Good night, Andy. I must go to bed. You know I have to tidy the garden a bit in the morning before tea. And then go to work and for after's finish up Benny Hill Season 6....Off I go.
Today, the bedroom tomorrow sold out stadiums present Andy Duvet and the pleated valances. Merchandised poopbags and doggy soap on a rope. Only available on Walkies Walkman media. 😊
I'm a golfer. Learned about the how the game is a way of life in the UK. The water fountains have dispensers at the bottom because golfers take their dogs with them onto the course. We love our dogs. JT
Thank you for the songs Andy. It's awesome to see you have so much extra time on your hands. For Absent Friends! LOVE IT! No matter how unflattering you try to make it, It's beauty and emotion shine through your "best" efforting. Other than that, the Best part of the video? The Zep shirt! :-). And the audience being so enthusiastic! Actually being there, in the room, must be a magic that is only "live". "Take him to the park, or he'll bark." Classic! It is a sad song in the end. My dog lives for the walks. That chick must be your daughter! She totally ignored you! Hahaha!
The chords for Absent Friends are a bit tricky. They are monster songwriters. I was struggling to play them. I played through it again today and they had sunk in. So at the time this was my best effort. It would not be funny if I pretended to be bad. I really am that bad. But the songs shine through
Just a wonderous idea hit my mind as you did pluck away, Roy Harper and you should go on tour, come to Tucson and enjoy a little good old fashioned desert heat. You never fail to amaze me and enjoy your jumping around to show all there is to know about Sir Edwards of Hampton Court Palace
Have you ever heard Neil Innes' Rutland Weekend Television spoof song on Film Maker KEN RUSSELL called 'POMMY' ? ......'Concrete Jungle Boy - You're nobody's Mothers Pride and Joy' ....lol
Worth viewing just for that priceless ending. I love when you get interrupted or get offtrack. IMO don't ever make slick/perfect videos. Uncut slice of life is your style.
I've just re-suscribed Andy. You lost me to a huff with your Astral Weeks video but I'm won over again by your performance of Tit Willow from the Mikado. Beato doesn't do Gilbert and Sullivan or Formby. You need to do a George Formby video too as part of your English Aesthetic series. With a uke of course...
I did not know that.... I've seen some awesome bands there over the years. I also came 3rd in a battle of the bands contest there back in 1988, you'd think that warrants a blue plaque...nothing.
Brilliant channel Andy! Happy Birthday to the Golden God Himself Mr. Robert Anthony Plant!🐐🎂! Fun Fact (nobody cares about)I share a Birthday with the Beyond Superlative Mahavishnu John McLaughlin January 4th!🕉️ . Such a heartwarming voice❤
More! More! How much is it for requests? Would love to hear you cover a song called "I know where syd barret lives" by the Television Personalities? perfect for your singing and playing 👌 Bravo! 👏👏👏
Shades of Jake Thackray here, I think. I thought your sensitive treatment of When I'm Cleaning Windows was probably how George Formby originally intended the song to sound, if commercial pressures and audience expectations hadn't forced him down the obvious path. I think you can hear in your rendition how he might have influenced the way Paul McCartney writes melodies.
You could have just sung "I love my dog" by Cat Stevens or Elvis's Old Shep but that;s not English is it !. Did you know that George Harrison was a member of the George Formby Appreciation Society. Peter Sellers was also pretty good on ukulele and used to do Formby songs. He also used to be a drummer although probably not up to your standard.
I like the Seth Putnam (of the band whose name one is not allowed to say - but in their Picnic of Love epoch, not the thrash metal one) treatment of When I'm Cleaning Windows. Your crowd was a bit subdued, though. You should've booked a night at the Cammell Laird Social Club, like Half Man Half Biscuit did, once. They're a lively crowd, they are. See how much they appreciated 27 Yards of Dental Floss, for instance. ruclips.net/video/tQSFO9qWRvM/видео.html

@@AndyEdwardsDrummer This is reassuring. The title disturbingly suggests that you will be singing. BTW, on your top ten genres you specifically call out your disdain for solo singers with acoustic guitar. Such an abrupt, if I daresay ironic turn!
So this is what Pink Floyd ment by "Hanging on in quiet desperation Is the English way"?
this is why the internet was invented.
Indeed.
I like the way your daughter just came in and put a stop to it.
Been there.
Never a dull moment on this channel!
That was raw, twisted and unfinished; a true masterpiece.

That's funny as hell. Marvellous stuff. Andy should do some Ivor Cutler, on a rinky dink keyboard and dressed in an old overcoat.

Lime and limpid green, the sound surrounds the icy waters underground
Nicely done, Andy! I especially liked the Genesis tune.

Bravo Maestro!👏👏
In my playlist, now.
I was expecting more songs about bird's knees.
During the Industrial Revolution the birds used to cough around Andy's way
We have to get The Charismatic Voice to react to this.

A sympathy 'like'. Was it all leading up to this?😂😂🤣🤣
I thought for a second John Belushi was going to smash your guitar against the wall...
Andy let's make a comedy prog-album together. With today's technology even two luddites like us can pull it off!
Loved it :D by the time you got to cleaning windows I was laughing so much I nearly spat my coffee out.

No worries… Genesis chords are tough…. But absolutely beautiful!
You did well for a drummer. 😎
And his steed was a dappled grey
The dearth of quality canine songs has finally been addressed and overcome. Triumphantly.
Tull , eat your heart out !
Absolutely fantastic have a wonderful day Andy ❤😊
You'll be needing a lute for this!
The first song was about a streaker at a cricket match. I'd already pressed like! You can't win 'em all.
This should shut up all the people who say today’s music is lacking what we had in the 1960’s and 70’s. Shut them up and send them running !
"don't take the brown acid"
I hear a strong "madcap Laughs"-Barrett era influence on your original song "Dogs"-Ironic...
So funny and great to hear. I watched all the way to the end. She RUINED IT!!
Pretty good for a Baggie supporter haha
I now believe the earth is flat and Andy's songs helped me get there.
Cool!!!!! A Minstrel in the Gal...Bedroom!
This is the same guy that says that kraftwerk are more influential than Pink Floyd, now i see where that take comes from ahahahahahahah
ah..you got me with this logic
That was fantastic! :D
The Zodiac killer quoted some of "Tit Willow" into a desk sometime in the late 60s.
Love it, even better played at x2 speed.
"Tit Willow"...I think was supposed to be on "Thick as a Brick"-and was a major influence on "Piper at the Gates....
That's how I learnt the word obdurate. Watching this song performed by the Muppets.
Do it dude!
Enjoyed it.
Or my masterpiece of improv-"An Ode to Joseph Merrick-"The Elephant Man"-Recorded after watching a documentary about 15 years ago.
Improv is all I do. Check out "The Donner Party Blues" and "them Young Girls"-also "The Pine Grove epic".

It was put on by Mike Smith👏 We should have come 8th but I think our guitarist bribed the judges, we won a guitar and everything.
Formby rocks!!😂😂

It’s good but it’s no ‘Carouselambra’.
Yes it is
You should be wearing a Bob Dylan t- shirt, not a Zep one. Let’s show some respect for the fabulous Led Z!
