    Great timing for me! My new (used) chair needs new tires. Since I am using that chair at home on gravel, etc., this is obviously the tire to go with.

    42, Love your Vids/Vibes, it would probably be easy enough to trim out the original foam to fill in on the new installation right? Likely what I will end up doing anyway. 😂

    I have refused to look at any 'Q' products based on a very disgruntled user and your experiences. Broken stud?! Cheap metal. Matt M. (Permobil) shared with the add-on of four power seat functions, they give a free lighting package. Permobil did it because Quantum introduced the idea. Elevators approved on group three PWC's, recently, but won't be realized for an indefinite period of time. F3 or F5 pending Voc Rehab - Thanks, Dan

    When putting together with an inner tube you should inflate just a small amount because if you dote the deflated tube can get court as you put the wheel together

    The hex shape of the rim is a tire rotation interference system. On the other rims, there are little "pins" cast into the bead of the rim. You can see it in the old tire, where the rim clamped it. Will it make a big difference in summer, probably not. But it may in cold or cool and rainy weather in high torque situations. Like quick stops or going over a small ledge. You'll just have to test it.

      I noticed those while editing the video.. the quantum wheels seemed to have something similar..they almost looked like casting seams inside the bead surface- but they appear to be intentional, and spaced out equally.

    @Totally Normal - please can you see if it is possible to do this with the Invacare TDX SP2 tyres before I try and get some shipped by you to the UK.

    I happened to have a heavy round. And I found the best way to stop things with a tires of cars issues. Far as pressure was I do what I did as a kid on my dirt bike. Is that that green gunk that's excellent? They use for off-road tires. If you change your valve stems, but before you change your valves and pull thed it out, put the green guck in as much of as you can fill the whole d*** tire up. To the point that just leave enough room in there where you could just squeeze your hand in there before disconnecting the injection to where you can squeeze it just a little bit, then I'll do that, put the valve steam back in and pressurize it the rest of the way by pump do this on everyone of the tires at the same time, we gett all done within an hour or 2 are take breaks in between, but after each rotation on there, at least spin the tire around by driving. You don't have to take it off. Just why are you still in your car just running around the house? That's all it takes, let us sit for a while, then add more pressure to it, and if there's any pinholes, I'll show up, but it will seal them. This works perfectly on every one of the have around tires that having an attitude and I repaired my heav around Uber a year ago.

    Dan, I am complete tetraplegic and use a Permobil M300. I needed to replace my batteries, Can you make a video regarding wheelchair Batteries like AGM, GEL, VRLA Batteries type. Please differentiate between Group 24 & Group 34 Batteries also. Can we use LiFePo4 Batteries instead of gel batteries as replacement. As Lithium iron phospate batteries have long life and weight also not that heavy. What's your suggestion on Lithium batteries as replacement as you have been using "Bounder" from your inventory.

  • @djiinair

    Hi ! Did you tried replace in standard batteries to lighter lifepo4 (low weight, longer range)? You doing grate job !

      eventually i think the stretto is a good candidate for a Li swap.. the battery box is nice and long!

    Are you sure that actual rubber on the road is greater for the Permobil tyres? There may be more overall area, but there's a lot of space between the tread blocks. Would be interesting to see some ink tests (ink the tyre, place on paper, sit in chair) to compare actual *net* contact patch for each tyre. Obviously off road the performance will be different, but for, say, wet pavement, net rubber in touch with the surface matters a lot for traction and braking.

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  9 месяцев назад

      with these tires contact patch is only part of the equation.. the way the rubber flares out also has a 'gripping' effect - which allows for more traction utilizing the spaces in the tread pattern, and also the forward/side edges of the tread lugs
      with these tires, i can get up the ramp into my van in the rain going as slow as i want.. with the stock primo tires, they just spin - and i have to get a running start

    Great video!!
    Out of curiosity, have you found any easy way to push the wheels out a tiny bit so larger 3.5-8 tires will fit, similar to what you did with the C300 where you could flip the wheel around backwards for more clearance? Also, do you remember or have written down what the size spec was for the wheel stud that broke?
    Thanks!!

    • @JesseCampbell0

      I ask because I'm experimenting with an old q6 edge mid wheel chair to make it more capable on uneven terrain, and converting it to a frond drive chair. I swapped the drive motors left to right and removed the front casters, which pushes the drive wheels even further forward than they are on a 4front or f3, and i'd like to put aggressive tires on with an even wider track. This chair won't be used indoors, and won't be running for a lot of miles... maybe ~50 miles in a year total... so hopefully the gearbox and motors can deal with being run backwards for extended periods.

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  3 месяца назад +1

      sometimes ya can get away with adding a few washers to the studs to get a bit more spacing.. depends on the wheels and tires you're using tho.
      on the edge 2 and 3 chairs, if you're using the Michelin tires, a few washers is all the spacing thats needed :^)

    I just ordered some of the 3.50-8 pneumatics for my M3. I think I'll try and get my hands on a set of these and see if they manage. Staying on form is always the "safer" option although a tin of tyre weld in the bag is not the biggest issue.

    42. Could you squirt some Great Stuff (non-expanding) foam to fill the gaps?

    • @orion_13
      @orion_13 Год назад

      That was my thought too when I saw it. Use the kind you put around windows and doors in construction. If it doesn't expand hard enough to move wood doors then it should be fine inside metal and bolts.

    Just out of interest would it help you if you had a hydraulic jack in a pit in the ground that sits level with the floor so you can sit the chair over it then pump the hydraulic and the chair lifts making it easier to work on

      ive got an extra van wheelchair lift in here - the plan is to built it into a portable platform to lift things up into the air to work on :^)

    Do you ever sit and imagine if you was asked to design a everyday powerchair how you would design it . First thing I would do is design a seat you can fully adjust without the need of stripping the thing down first

    Got about 2,500 miles with original tires on an M3. Sometimes you just gotta run on slicks. Gimme a bottle of bleach and clear the bleach box cause... when I take her to the drags she really shines. Oh my, how old am I? Is that a Kiss concert at the end of video?

    Love the videos! The most likely cause of stud failure is under or over tightening of the lug. Do you know if the failed stud was the same one that was hand tight? Would it be overkill to use a torque wrench when tightening the wheel lugs?

    I found it interesting to see that the tyres (ok tires for you Americans 😂) just to the right of the tyre/tire size have N.H.S. stamped on them. Just wondering if that is referencing the National Health Service here in the Uk or if it means something else.
    Can anyone shed any light in it for me please?
