What's the Kitchen Revolution?
Co-founding Artistic Directors of Belarus Free Theatre, Natalia Kaliada and Nicolai Khalezin, will introduce a session led by guest provocateurs, Mark Ball (Creative Director of Manchester Festival) and Birgit Lengers (Head of Junges DT / Deutsches Theater International, Berlin), focused on how to bring European audiences back to the theatre post-COVID19.
In true Kitchen Revolution style, the secret supper-club with a twist originated by Belarus Free Theatre in 2017, conversations will be accompanied by delicious food. Participants have the option to cook a chosen recipe from Nicolai, to be eaten together at 19:00. Below you can find the recipe.
Who can join?
This return of the Kitchen Revolution is open to theatre industry professionals with an interest in the future of European theatres post-COVID19. Places are free but limited and must be applied for in advance via our online registration form below.
Recipe
During previous Kitchen Revolutions, participants would all sit together around a large dinner table and share food cooked for them by Nicolai and Natalia. Through this shared meal, they explore their history, their stories.
For this special online version, participants are invited to cook a recipe, chosen by Nikolai, and eat it together at 19:00. Of course, different time zones and situations will mean this may not be possible for everyone. So, you are welcome to join with a glass of wine, a snack or just a hunger for the conversation!
Polenta a la Piedmont with tomato sauce
Ingredients (for 4 persons):
Cornmeal - 300 grams
Butter - 50 grams
Chicken stock - 300 grams
Cream - 100 grams
Water - 200 grams
Fresh tomatoes - 400 grams
Pickled tomatoes - 300 grams
Onion - 1
Garlic - 4 cloves
Red chili pepper - 1 pod
Cheeses: Parmesan, Taleggio, Pecorino, Mozzarella
Basil - 3-4 branches
Lemon half juice
Salt pepper
