Before I got diagnosed with PMR I was on ibuprofen for 6 weeks, and likely at the maximum allowed dose most of the time due to extreme pain. I have an automatic cringe factor when it comes to ibuprofen. In terms of colds, I just drink lemon water (organic lemon juice). I eat kiwis. I have not taken any cold remedies since I have been diagnosed.
Both my family doctor and rheumatologist said NO too, but not for the reasons you said. It has to do with increased risk of stomach bleeding in 50’s plus.
@@PrednisonePharmacist I take it as a probiotic while on prednisone. I haven’t always done it, but it has worked in terms of getting rid of IBS back in 2018. It is also effective if you need antibiotics for a UTI as example. I don’t always take it as it is expensive (24.00 for 6 bottles of the liquid cultures) and most of the time just eat probiotic yogurt like Activia.
Generally you need to wait 24 hours between the two. Check out my blog for more details: prednisonepharmacist.com/education/prednisone-drug-interactions/
Im getting conflicted information 😭 But what if you take IBP first then wait 6 hours then take prednisone first dose. Is that safe then? My dr and pharmacist said 2 different things

Wise choice!

Right-ibuprofen can also increase the risk for stomach bleeding as well.
I take bio-k just because of the prednisone, and it’s bio-k in liquid form because probiotics are highly recommended.
I’m not familiar with Bio-K. What are you taking it for?

I don’t always take Tylenol either. Generic brands are just as effective.
Exactly!
Yes, Aleve was also a NO
Yes, Aleve is just as bad as prednisone.
What about when finishing ibuprofen and starting on prednisolone? How long should I wait between the two? Thank you.

Thank you very much for this information. I've been taking omeprazole wrong 😊
Thank you
I take acetominephen while tapering sometimes and usually only 1 or 2 tablets in 24 hours.
That makes sense.

Acetaminophen?
Yep! Acetaminophen = Tylenol and is generally safe with prednisone.
@@PrednisonePharmacist Wonderful! Thank you!
If GERD is diagnosed due to drug interactions like those in your video, will the GI issues heal themselves once off the drugs?
Yes, they usually recover after.
