Celebrating Zookeeper Week At Busch Gardens! | Behind The Scenes, Gorilla Tour & Feeding Animals!

- In today’s vlog we head to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay to celebrate National Zookeepers Week! We were invited to participate in a few tours at the park, which we were so excited to do! We started the day by helping the zookeepers in the prep kitchen, by prepping veggies for the animals. Seeing how they grow the food, prepare the food and store the food was so interesting and I was so happy to help in the kitchen. Then we experienced the Gorilla Insider Tour where we learned so many interesting facts and information about the gorillas, how they’re cared for and how they perform enrichment activities and how we can help the gorillas and their natural habitats. This was an amazing tour and we highly recommend checking this tour out on your next trip to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. We end our tours with the Animal Ambassador Tour, this is the tour with the youngest age limit, ages 3 and up can enjoy this tour. We met a ball python, a 3 banded armadillo and even got to feed some flamingos! We also learned so much about these animals. I think feeding the flamingos was my favorite part of this tour. Then we ended the day with a delicious bbq pulled pork burger for lunch and a front row ride on Iron Gwazi. It was an awesome day and I learned so much! Gorillas are beyond amazing.

I love doing zoo tours, highlights how much work and care zoo staff with animals. That gorilla interaction was incredible, so lucky Tim, and rounded out with some classic Tim on a ‘rolly coasty’, priceless!
The animal interactions warmed my heart and watching Tim on the coaster gave me a much needed laugh for the day

I absolutely loved this look into Zookeeping! It's a job I always wished I had, and being able to see parts of it I never got to see before, despite living right here in Tampa, was really neat!
Ingenious color-coded bins for the food for the animals. Makes it so much easier for the wonderful staff!

I applied for this position at the nutrition center. Needless to say, I didn't get the job even with a bunch of experience and working for Busch gardens two different times. The people in the nutrition center work 6-2 everyday. They have the recipes that are made by a specific nutritionist for each animal that is in the zoo. However, it is the zoo keepers that actually feed the animals and help with their enrichment. Honestly, I don't recommend working for Busch gardens, but it is amazing how they operate the zoo part of the park. They treat those animals better than most of their employees!
What I do for a living! So exciting to see you experience wildlife nutrition behind the scenes.

It’s amazing! I had know idea 💡 that the zoo keepers have such in-depth jobs as being farmer, chef, vet, etc. It just goes to show you that until you walk a day in someone else’s shoes (or watch a vlog of Tim doing it) you have no idea what someone else is living through. Whole new respect for the zoo keepers!!!!

Wow, BG is my home park for more then 20 years, never knew anything like this. Have done the animal encounters but this was a super awesome experience that many people do not get to do.

When you said the rhinos know to take that bucket, the hippos know to take that bucket I had an image of the actual animal coming in as like the designated food gathering rhino and it made me laugh.

Great video!!! I am so happy that you recognized national zookeeper week, they so deserve it! I have many friends that are zookeepers here at the Sedgwick County Zoo, and alot of the general public have no clue that these keepers go to college and ha e a a bachelor degree. They have so much compassion for their animals and are great role models for our kids. They are believers in conservation and this beautiful earth.
