Yes, Engineering Physics is allowed all over the world, including the top quant firm and HFT, Computer science, electrical , engineering Physics and mathematics, , is the best for them . They mostly hire students from these. But for HFT ( quant) the top companies mostly hire Master or PhD student.
Even in IIT Bombay, after CSE and EE, engineering Physics is allowed for the same company. Like for apple, only CSE, EE and engineering Physics are allowed for placement
Bekaar branch h koi achaa career option hai hi nhi Govt. m sirf drdo h ep k lia pr udhr b masters required h min. Or baki core job koi hai hi nahi Btech krne se acha toh bsc krlo physics m 1 yr to save hoga
EP's core is research as I mentioned in the video also. But that doesn't make it a bad branch. The curriculum helps you a lot in tech jobs as it requires a lot of mathematics. I hope once you research well about the branch we would agree.
And let me tell you a fun fact, when Google comes in IIT Bombay for recruitment, it's open only for 4 branches, and they are CS, Electrical, EP and Mathematics.

Looking at solved examples may help. Try that once. And don't worry everyone faces this problem and it will reduce overtime as practice will increase

EP is a great branch. The curriculum is a bit hectic but it would build a mathematical mindset which would help your son to pursue career in Tech
