I agree with the internship scenario. However, there are a lot of companies that are opening for physics in the quantum information domain but you have to apply there yourself. Speaking of coursework, you could have researched a bit more. General relativity can be taken as a course (department elective) in the last semesters. I felt that the this was not "all about engineering physics branch". You didn't elaborate on what specific things you can do in physics. What kind of research is happening, etc. Maybe you could ask one of our profs to give a talk/interview.

@@augustine76 Well, my main point was that it is not the whole picture. Around 1/4th of the class is going for higher studies in physics. How can you take informed decision if you don't know what the 1/4th of the class is planning to do? Btw, Lakshya and me are friends. I was just criticising certain aspects of the video, not trying to insult her.

Brother, physics has developed to a level where 4 years of study is not enough to build something useful. In these 4 years, you will only learn the fundamentals. You need to go through either MS or PhD to contribute in any field. This is especially true if you don't want to do the physics coding related jobs.

The last part of the video is really discouraging. If it were as you said, average package of it in IIT Guwahati won't have been 16 lakh per annum. Also, it seemed from your talk that it is the worst possible branch for engineering and one should only opt if he has no option at all. EP students can get a job in the field of Electrical, and most software companies allow them for interviews.
From what I studied one month about this branch (I am getting it in IIT Guwahati), I found put that, if you love Physics, but don't want to do research for 10-15 years (basically if you're like me), best option for you is to do MS in Data Science or MTech in AI & Machine Learning from some renowned institute (considering you didn't get a good job after BTech). That will land you in a decent job.
What I made out by studying this branch, is that EP is gold mine for someone who loves Physics. And it does have average package up to 16 lakh per annum in IIT-G, so please don't think that you will have to spend 15 years in the field of research before getting a job. You'll get to study what you love in the 4 years, and will also get a job after 4 or 6 years. So if you love Physics, but can't afford 15 years of your life for research, then taking Engineering Physics (preferably in one of the top 7 IITs) is a win-win situation.

I am from EP too so here are my thoughts.
Firstly you describe the course structure as physics only with optics and quantum mechanics
(you failed to mention electrodynamics which is a very important course this sem for ece and eee).
You also fail to mention digital and analogue courses and also miiocroprocessoors taught to ece and eee. Now ece and eee obviously study way more in depth but you didn't mention.
Next is opportunity, ep is research+partial electronics, so few electronic companies like Texas instuments/bajaj I think opened(FOR INTERNSHIPS ). And for research, companies don't come to you, you have to apply to profs and get a good cv before and projects.
Also you fail to mention how many open electives and in department electives I have, you should see our final 2 semesters. 2nd last sem we can legit remove 2 courses for other physics electives. And last sem is filled with physics electives. Also in our open electives(not physics electives) you can take cse/data science and many other courses if you want.
Lastly the time, what you said is truth. And sadly this is the only truth if anf only if you are into coding. But then again you in time constraints put "managing classes and clubs", if you join coding club/ai club/cn club you will be upskilling yourself only.
Take this comment as you want.
    -Akshansh Mahendra.
(Edit->removed some spellings and corrected some weird sentence structure)b
