6:08 I would recommend you fold your towel twice to give you a square of four sides. Gives you more cushion and avoid causing scratches if you wipe in one section and buff off final wipe with new towel and you can wipe that one back in forth. Happy detailing 😀 P.s light pressure on wiping with towels
I know this is an old video but it came to me just perfect. Going to try to remove most of the orange peel from my first spray. Hopefully there is enough clear.
Gracias - questions: 1- so no additional wax/polish needed? 2- how much product needed for (3) cars estimate? 4- my cars are not newly painted but are five plus years old with little paint care: is this the best solution for this situation? Thank you! H
Good work man making this video, showing us how to do step by step, this what I am looking for❗❗ 👍... did you use just 3m product or for professional job is the best product because I am begginer on polish jobs and I starting using maguiars pro products.
Awesome job. I have a question please. Do strong water pressures at the car washes remove all these layers after a while? including the clear coat. When should we expect all these layers to have come off from all the washing? And are there any tips about this? Like never to use a high water pressure on a car?
How do you stop getting DA marks? Painted the hood on my truck, wet-sanded with the DA with - soapy water, no less - 1200, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 and then buffed. DA marks all over the place! Mostly just an issue with horizontal areas but annoying as hell.
Question: For the cutting part, how many gallons does the compressor need to be minimum. And what kind of tool are you using on that air hose? is it a DA? why can't I just use the same DA I use for polishing?
Been painting, cutting and buffing for over 40 years! Several magazine articles over the year's,,, not bragging,, just sayin. And underrated work of art..
Just my 50¢ advice, need wait 30days to for the paint totally cure, then its easy for u to do the detailing job,coz newly paint always leave swirl mark if u try to polish it, although u using expensive material or tool..
If you're doing 3 step process with wool pad first, next use step 1 foam pad and step 1 polish. Also wipe off last polish step compound when going to step 2 and 3. Leaving some compound from last step will make for a coarser finish....swirl marks. Also try to keep your pad flat. Darker colors also finish best with hand applied Mothers Gold Carnuba cleaner wax. There are 2 Carnuba waxes from them....a pure Carnuba which is streaky and the cleaner Carnuba one which is best. I'm a little old school and still like the 10" orbitals to finish, more surface area and I think a nicer finish than all the smaller machines popular now (except tight spots like inside trailer mirror you don't want to remove). -34 years polishing....wow, didn't think I'd still be doing it! 😂
The first step is get all the big scratches out and u have to see shine ,it's not gonna be the best shine but u have to see it and then u move on but usually u do about 2 or 3 passes each
Wow wonderful brother ...my congratulations ... I am a sri lankan car polisher .... I am watching your video..I am gaining knowledge..Thank you very much brother ... My congratulations to you
Have you ever had to deal with fine sand scratches coming back after being buffed. I work at a body shop so the paint jobs are all new. I've had this issue for a while. What I've been doing is sanding the nibs and peel and then just letting that sit for awhile before buffing that seems to help but I don't always have time to do that. Any help would be appreciated much. God bless
I also work at a body shop. I find that you need to let the paint cure for at least a day or two before a cut and buff. New paint that’s to soft tends to leave scratches due to pressure. Even a microfibre cloth will leave scratches if you apply to much force
Will this fix overspray?... I recently painted my hood but I got some over pray while I was painting other parts... I figured I could get rid of the over spray with some 1500 and 2000 and then just compound and polish
U should hv went 2000, 3000, 5000, 8000 wet on DA and just use the white foam pad then the back and blue . It buffs out so easy and u save so much compound . For as much compound u used I could hv done the hole door plus u don’t get no swirls from the wool pad.
This is why new paint jobs cost a fortune, its not necessarily the time it takes to spray the vehicle, its the cut and buff that takes most the time, time is costly..
I keep reading about silicones being detrimental to painting, specifically fix eyes. Are these buffing compounds made of silicones? If so, do you do all the buffing in a completely different area than where you spray? Or is your filtration system so great, on your air supply, it doesn't matter if these compounds have silicones in them? Thanks! Great video!

Can you also do this with single stage paint job
that 3M compounding kit is a fortune....how about recommending a cheaper alternative?

they both work fine

What speed setting did you use on the Dewalt buffer? Seems like it was the same speed for each stage right?

you dont wanna use wax on a fresh paint job tho right?
What did u use on that final step? Sealent?
how long do you have to wait to cut and buff after a paint job?
