I just wanted to say that, although Fel D1 is the most common cause of cat allergies, it is not the only one. There are other fairly common ones, such as Fel D4. I wanted to say that for people who have allergies, because after reading a lot on Fel D1 and Siberian cats, I found a breeder who tests their cats' Fel D1 level and all of their cats' produce almost no Fel D1. I had very high hopes that my boyfriend would not react to their cats, but sadly, after 5 minutes holding and petting one of their cats, he definitely started reacting. So for anyone who is allergic and is looking to get a Siberian cat, make sure to test your allergies with the cat beforehand and don't get your hopes up too high, because 1. If the cat has not been bred to have especially low Fel D1, it might not be that low at all, even if it is a Siberian cat, and 2. You might be allergic to other proteins.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I have an 8-month old Siberian and I'm starting to think about rescuing a cat so he has a play buddy but am concerned about my allergies coming back. I'm happy to know that it has worked out for you! BTW, love seeing Deku and LoMaiGai interact! SO CUUUUTEE!
seriously i think getting deku a buddy while having the opportunity to rescue a cat was the best decision i've ever made! they are so happy together and love each other so much and both getting the exercise they need by chasing each other and play fighting all day=) so definitely consider rescueing a cat for your current kitty. but then again like i mentioned, not everyone's body will react the same. so you do need to be prepared that if you rescue a cat and do become allergic, you might have to take allergy medications for the rest of your rescue kitty's life or until your body build up immunity =) i will be also making a video on what to consider before getting a second cat or a first cat so definitely stay tuned for that video! just currently have too much videos to work on so it might be maybe 2 -3 weeks until i put out that video because i have other videos lined up currently. but stay tuned =)
Princess Deku and ickle kitty interacting and playing is just meltingly adorable, there can never be enough Deku lol. 😍It's good to see you are OK and not having allergies.
hahhaha yes! they are super adorable together and love each other so much =) im definitely so blessed to be able to have 2 kitties and no allergies for sure!
New subscriber here! I finally caved in and clicked subscribe after I fell in love with Deku, and now she has a younger brother!!! 😍 She's three times his size though... hope she doesn't Bully him! (Or the other way around lol)
omg welcome!! im so happy you love my kitties! and lol! i know right?! i need to post this other video of them play wrestling, Deku's size just swallows my kitten! but my kitten LoMaiGai does not back down because of how small he is hahaha he is pretty good at holding his own =) i can't wait to show you more videos of them!!
@@kukusdiary9022 YES. I have a siberian kitten myself 3-4 months old, beige color point and she looks EXACTLY like Deku minus the brown mask part on the face. If you have instagram I would gladly send you some pictures of her! My other cat Totoro (Yes named after the Ghibli movie) is terrified of her energy. She is a wrecking ball of pure, unadulterated fluff and energy. She also steals his playtime as he is an older cat and lacks her energy. Whenever I wave a toy around, my older cat tries to play but my younger siberian Magnoliya jumps in and pounces, with Totoro unable to keep up. Poor kitty. Any advice? 😭
@@AdrenalStorm yes i do have an instagram account it's @kukusdiary she sounds adorable! but ya an older cat might be overwhelmed by her kitten energy. if totoro isnt getting the exercise he needs because the kitten is stealing all its playtime, then i would suggest maybe separating them when you play with totoro so you get more 1 on 1 time with him ? i noticed that with deku too. deku does not play with any of her toys now ever since the kitten came along. because the kitten would steal all of it. but deku only wants to play with the kitten and chase the kitten now instead of toys so she is still getting her exercise that way. if totoro likes to play with the kitten and chase the kitten, then i wouldn't be too worried since he is still getting exercise. but if he's not then maybe separate them during totoro's play time
@@kukusdiary9022 thanks for the advice ! I sent some photos of both Totoro and Magnoliua over instagram because I have GOT to share how cute they both are XD
I also share the same experience too! When Sage (my Siberian cat) first got home I was allergic to her for a month and thankfully the allergens went away. I was worried at first but I wasn't going to give her up. I am hoping this will stay true for me too when we get her a sibling cat soon!
@@kukusdiary9022 Yes I think he is. He has been living with us for more than a year and trust me, his fur is everywhere but somehow, none of us got allergic to him
I just wanted to say that, there are truly hypoallergenic breeds and that the Siberian is actually a hypoallergenic breed, this all comes down to the confusion of people not knowing what the word hypoallergenic means. Hypoallergenic does not mean allergy-free, the term means something that is less likely to cause an allergic reaction. That's it, stating otherwise would be spreading misinformation and hindering people from knowing accurate information as well as how to assess their allergies as well. The prefix "hypo" literally means “beneath“ or “below,” and "allergenic" is in reference to "allergies". In the same way that hypoglycemic does not mean "sugar-free", hypoallergenic does not mean "allergy-free". It never has, and yes your Siberian is considered a hypoallergenic breed and you do own a hypoallergenic cat. ❤
