Yes, was wondering if anyone was using JB to reattach emblems. Great that it works for a hinge fix too!

The Top isn't going anywhere, but the Ping has surely gone..
There is a reason why the hinge is spot welded only at a certain point (where the small hole is).
The part other than the small welded part of the hinge is not attached to the top & which is exactly why you get that ping sound effect.
The JB Weld has been applied to a bigger surface area of the hinge, which has taken away that hollowness which is required to generate that ping sound effect..

Thanks man. Had the lid come off of one I've been carrying since 1994. Super glue was not my friend. Lol. I swear I had fixed another but that must not have been how. Have a little collection but my main one is almost always in my pocket. Usually switch my torch insert for cigars and random tasks, like burning off super glue, lol, with other cases. But have a special one that lights my damn cigarettes.

Thanks for this! +1 subbed. .. I tried Wayside Cyno.. I tried Grabs Like Nails.. no joy! Put on the JB Kwik Weld.. seems good. I have a vintage 'Sharp' 'Special H Quality' Japanese lighter.. from 1965 to 1970. nice quality, had a nice smooth action too.. but was a teeny bit loose.. one lid-hinge break later, doh! .. and now fixed!.. it's hard to get vintage zippos for bargain prices anymore.. but these Japanese made ones are nice .. but also cheap!.. sadly no lifetime warranty though.. but hey for 5 £/$/E .. not bad!

Hello, the hinge for the Zippo that I have was broken and separated from each other. I want to install or weld a new one. What is the solution, please?

You can solder brass. I'd solder the hinge back on. I'm pretty sure that's what Zippo did before they started spot welding their lighters.

Interesting... If I see a cheap Zippo around with a broken hinge and If I could get it maybe I will try to do it as an experiment :D

Clear fingernail polish will hold hinge pin in place w/out compromising hinge function. I used JB weld on my zippo lid weld break. It didnt last a day, and I'm a jb weld testimony kind of guy. I'll source a tiny bolt & nut to fix it. Cosmetics of my zippo be DAMNED. I need performance & durability, not a pretty lighter.

Never seen anyone weld with a battery and steel. Can anyone explain or demonstrate in a video?

I always wondered about using jb weld to attach the lid/case. I would say that is has almost equal strength to a weld, especially with some of the weak welds that they put on them now. I think it would be good for a beater zippo. You can always put it on again.

@@ZippoFanatic77 Yeah, it's really only good for attaching coins to things and like what you did. It's basically stronger epoxy.
