After a long 7 weeks of this Sprinter Van Conversion project we are beginning to frame out our entire tiny home. So, with electrical wiring, strapping and insulation complete and with the ceiling/walls and floors installed we are ready to confirm that our van life layout inclusive of a bathroom etc. Can we do it all in just a few short days?!?

How Did We Get Here?

After an incredible 3 years of living, working, and traveling in our self converted Sprinter Van we made the very tough decision to abandon it in Africa to take a rescue flight back to Canada. As it has for all of us this global pandemic has flipped our world upside down. When our Prime Minister announced that he was sending repatriation flights over to Africa to pick up Canadians who were stuck (due to border closures) we consulted with friends and family closest to us and realized that in this time of crisis we should be back in our home country. Halting our dream of driving around the world was a hard pill to swallow which is why we knew we needed a big project to keep our mind + body busy while social distancing back here in Toronto. Enter building an off-grid tiny house on wheels!! This is going to be our 3rd time converting an empty cargo van into a campervan and we are both excited and nervous to take on this project. We want this build to be the ULTIMATE OFF-GRID VAN 🚐

As an American, when she said “in this 31 degree heat” my mind immediately thought “fuck that, 31 is cold! Oh wait, they use Celsius” 😂😂😂
Ohh I didn’t know they used Celsius so I was so confused lol but I live in Nebraska so depending on if it’s windy or snowing 31 is kinda cold but it’s not too too bad

Living in South Africa, 31 degrees C is a nice day. Nice to work outside, be in the garden or maybe relaxing in the water. The coldest I get where i live is 2 deg C (that is about 35 deg F). We do sometimes get snow somewhere in the country but that cold like just passes over in a day or two. We literally dress short pants and t-shirts in the winter here on most day in our winters. If I had to go to cold snowy miserable places, I would literally never get out of bed....lol (This is ME visiting cold places: ruclips.net/video/cCmp2qbrZUQ/видео.html)

I’m a very avid member of my Scouts BSA troop and, before this quarantine, went camping every month. So to have that completely taken away from me is super hard. I haven’t been camping in around 4 months. So I have been watching your old videos and reminiscing on the great outdoors I (and many other people) no longer get to truly experience. The “no shower but happier-than-you’ve-ever-been” feeling is definitely a nostalgic one.
I think moving forward you have to come home from your world travels at least once a year to build a van with Bob. He just makes me smile.

Getting to spend time with my 3 college kids who normally would be living elsewhere. That has been mine and my husband’s silver lining in all of this.
I had chills when I saw that L bracket, one flew off of a semi truck once and impaled the front of my car, almost flew through my windshield a few years back. Luck day that was. But in all good spirits I’m sending you guys all the positive energy you need while building the new van. I watched way back when you built trinity and have loved supporting you guys ever since!! Keep doing what you are doing and keep those spirits up!
I woke up this morning at 5:30 am and couldn't fall back asleep. Then I realized it was Sunday and was super pumped to see the newest Eamon & Bec video! I recommend it so much. There are so many things you can do right now to make it happen when you’re 18 (if that’s what you want). If I could go back to that age I would totally tell myself to do that. I’m 29 now and my husband is 37. We have a blended family with 6 kids and we are moving into a class A motorhome. We already have it and have spent a ton of time in it, we just need to finish the renovation. It’s very exciting.

Eamon, Consider putting a smaller L bracket on your 2x6 end cap notch cut. Where you made your cut on the 2x6 to sit on the "Massive L Bracket", the 2x6 really has 2x3 worth of support. So you can shore it up by adding a smaller L bracket on the end cut.
I LOVE BOB!! When you are back on the road I need a video from Bob every now and then. Getting to really look forward to his appearances!!!!

Also the rubber foot on the clamp screws in and out to adjust for the thickness of wood you are drilling. Used that jig on my van conversion, I'm now addicted to pocket hole joinery. You need a biscuit jointer next!

The headliner shelf almost ruined our relationship too 😂 They're beasts! We relate to so much of what you guys are going through. I'm watching this absolutely in awe of you both. Building a van is stressful enough, and then creating content on top of that AND keeping such positive vibes... it's just an absolute joy to watch. To be honest, the thought of another van build is a 'hell no' to me, but as we were watching this, Ben said that it's making him want to do another one! Is it just me or am I the only one who loves this channel but my interests are totally different? Like i don't plan on ever building a van home but I just love Eamon and Bec's personality and vibe in the video which just keeps bringing me back. Finding happiness as a mom of 5 having our two oldest home from college and finding space in our home again to allow everyone to work and play.
Thanks for your videos. You inspire this middle aged couple that, even though we now have an almost paid off mortgage on our story and a half, hopes to someday trick out a van of our own. Figure we will leave the house for the kids to stay in as they need and we will travel. Maybe a future channel! For now we work on finish this third home/yard Reno and dream of life on the road.

TIP FOR WEBSITE: Please put an image of the product ingredient label with the product online. Being able to swipe to see more photos makes the experience feel more interactive. Also, many people with allergies like to see the exact label. I didn't order for many months due to to this, but then finally emailed and Bob got back to me asap! Ingredients are AMAZING so there is no need to hide them. By not seeing the true label, I was worried there might be some hidden things and was scared to order. All the ingredients are fantastic so show that real label off and get more customers! Ps. The tea is delicious!
