- The long awaited spraygun shootout against harbor freights top sprayguns the black widow vs the spectrum. This is the end all to which spraygun you should buy, althought both sprayguns spray fantastic there could only be one winner... find out which one takes the trophy or ribbon lol
P.S. Footage was cut off due to the Gopro dying during spraying with the sprectrum so some part of the footage had to be substituted in order to make this video happen. my apologies.
I’m not a pro, but I do semi pro better than most. This channel is what helps me do that. Top marks bruh!
🤣😂🤣He pulled out the 1st place blue ribbon that the schools gave out in the 80’s for track & field back in elementary 🤣 with lightning! I lost it !
Tony January sure did , it was my daughters
Just A Mechanic Great review! Keep them coming !
Tony January thank you sir , will do!
The moment you pulled out that winner ribbon and added the extra sound/ visual effects, i subscribed!
Great video brother and I just had to choose between those Two guns myself today and luckily I had a shopper roll up on me while I was looking at the guns and asked him a lot of questions between those Two exact same guns and he said he owns them both and that they basically spray exactly the same to him and he can’t tell a difference between them and since I am a member of ITC at Harbor Freight that Spectrum gun was $50 off so I only paid $79 for it vrs the Black Widow of $179 so it was a Way better deal for sure! Thank you again for your time making this video and your Honest opinion between the Two guns! 👍
This is random but you should try the 1.4 husky gun. It’s my personal favorite at home right now. It’s a lvlp so very low air. I get super clean finishes off it. Lays clear very nice. And only 60 bucks
Kevin Camacho I have tried that husky gun, my friend of mines had it , but his had a larger tip size good gun for the money 👍🏻
Mobile Terminaluser yes it’s a good gun reguardless of the skill level. Lvlp is good for small compressors. It’s the 1.4 tip silver metal gun with the plastic cup at Home Depot. Check my channel out. I use it a lot on there
Truth being told u get what u pay for ..In all reality it's who's hands the gun is in , more than anything else ..i too get great results from lvlp touch up gun shooting clear but in the end stepping away from the automobile it's not as nice as it was when it was wet unfortunately!
@Mobile Terminaluser for a beginner with a small compressor I would recommend a Ani r150 mini gun to paint the bumper. You will probably need bigger than a 5 gal compressor.
I can vouch for the Husky 1.4... a sweet deal that includes a 1.8 tip for primer if need be. For $60 bucks the gun has good feel and is fairly lightweight. Bump up psi to 30 32 on a 26 30 gallon setup and sprays clear with very little peel. Overall lays down very decent results; A true jack of all trades! Made by Campbell Hausfeld.
I understand that it is a finish gun but personally I feel that I'm much better test would have been to use the same paint color not mattering then finish off with the clear coat because we all know paint and clear coat spray differently or at least I feel that that the product spray differently just my thoughts
Was actually looking for a comparison video, looking at buying one of the two. I do think painting the same paint with both is better for comparison, just because that is how scientific testing is done, you cant change more than one variable to get valid test results. So in this case instead of changing just one thing (the spray gun) we changed two things (gun & paint).
Honestly they are close to the same , other than the widow being easy to clean
The HF coupon book is starting to include a coupon for the standard Spectrum spraygun for $99. Use the 25% off coupon and get it for around $97. This is probably not the gun to get if you spray five days a week (no replacement parts available), but for the DIYer it should last for many years...
Just used it off my phone the cashier just scanned and walla 24% off yea
manuals.harborfreight.com/manuals/parts/P56153.pdf
Parts are availed but I still wonder if it’s a waste of money
I hear finex fx3000 parts interchange with the spectrum, so it may very well be even better value that original though, if so why not use in production settings! Jmo
I like the feather light trigger on the spectrum. The BW has a heavy spring in my opinion.
I have both,, had just the blue spectrum and did 35 flawless paint jobs,, got the widow for clear love the 12 inch spray pattern but you better have a good ventilation system in your booth the widow will Fogg you out if not,, l spray 23 psi for base with the blue spectrum and 35 psi with widow for clear,, get great results
Looks like you are getting some sort of a solvent pop on your paint. I don't think those holes are dust or debris.
The only thing I see with these is parts availability if you need them. You could buy a devilbis flg5 or a.n.i f160 for same money or maybe a little less and have longer gun life and choice of a lot of cap and fluid nozzle sizes. Check out spray guns direct and you'll see. Not knocking the guns but there are a lot better brand names for same or less money. Nice video though
Exactly. Not many are willing to admit it, but the hype has highly inflated the Black Widow's price to the point it costs more than better guns. That entirely defeats the purpose of buying from Harbor Freight. Iwata Kiwami $170 shipped, FLG5, less than $200 shipped and might can throw in a spare needle within that price. Astro Eurohe 103 for less than $100 shipped and it beat the BW in a comparison. Could buy two Astros for the price of the BW even using a HF coupon. That's insane!
Black Widow is made by Spectrum isn't it?
I got both and they both spray identical. The only difference I really saw with the BW is the cosmetic appearance and thr swivel hose fitting, THATS IT!
I have the new black widow no air control and much lighter and smoother trigger pull then your widow and then changed the tip it has a 12 inch spray pattern
Have You ever tried a Chinese knock off of Sata. Wonder if they're any good. Just seen one on Ali Express for $90
Fredoh ACR haven’t tried one personally , but I have seen them on eBay and Ali exp.
Side note : the black widow/spectrum is basically a sata knockoff
Careful with that crap l ba.. One for the price you said and the shit is not build not even with metal is some kind of plastic mixed with a weird component who fuckin knows what the fuck it is.
Video up tonight for the fake sata , part one..
@@Mechaniclyfe i don't see it up? Was it deleted ?
Awesome video! would you have any recommendations for base coat gun? If you wouldn't use these two for base?
Jason Xu both guns work well for base as well, I just sprayed base in cans to save time and money
Devilbiss Flg 5, Sharpe finnex, iwata az3 hte 2 , GPI, Iwata w400 Bellaria and pro Lite. In that exact order.
Are shooting the clear back to back with the coats ?? And did you blow the clear with one laying flat and the other sideways??
I like the red and blue idea, well done
Kar Kraftsman thank you sir
Not sure why you dont take the panels into the sunlight to compare.
You should do a product compo between the Spectrum and the Sharpe Finex. Harbor Frieght compares the spectrum to the finex which can be bought for cheaper than the spectrum, and you can buy all kinds of parts for the Finex. What are you supposed to do with the HF gun a seal leaks or you drop and damage the fluid tip or lose the needle packing when cleaning the gun?
Good video very helpful however what size tips come on both guns thank you I wait for your answer.
nigel thomas both of these guns have a 1.3 fluid tip, they also offer a 1.7 fluid tip for the hvlp version
Pretty sure in the beginning of the video he said they both come with the 1.3
You said the spectrum panel hanging was added footage......was the compared finished result laying flat? Wouldn't it be a much better comparison if you sprayed the panels while they were hanging upright? Any terrible gun can have a good finish if you just floor on a coat while the panel is laying flat.
Both can result in a similar finish rather flat or vertical , it’s a really good gun
@@Mechaniclyfe What I meant was that any gun can give you a good finish on a horizontal surface. A vertical surface would be a better test. I understand that you said both can give a good result on vertical surfaces, it just would have been cool to see that.
Gotcha
@justamechanic I just purchased the spectrum and wanted the widow just didn't want to go over the 200 mark at the moment . When I got home I checked my mailbox and there's a coupon On the widow for 149. Being said I haven't used the spectrum yet , would it be worth taking back tommorow and exchanging it for the widow along with the extra 20 buks?? And will I be able to use a heavy primer thru either one of the guns?? Thanks for the video
JustA GoodOboy personally both are excellent guns, I’d say if you are wanting something that’ll last you a bit longer I’d say spend the extra cash for it other than that no. Spraying primer requires a larger tip size so I would say I wouldn’t recommend the 1.3 for spraying primer. Not that you can’t spray out primer with it but it’ll just struggle to come out the gun. And isn’t going to be a smooth primered finish
@@Mechaniclyfe , does harbor freight offer larger size tips ? What size do you require for primer .
They only offer the 1.7 which is what I use for primer 1.6 - 2.2 is used for primer just depends on the primer
How do these compare to the Avanti 100 HVLP gun that Harbor freight sells now?
That’s not for automotive use
What cfm are these pulling? I read 11 at 35psi, But I think spraying in upper 20s would be less CFM correct? My hvlp gun for base only needs 4.3cfm, and I thought this hte gun Itemize more paint with same pressure. My 28gal tank only does 7scfm @40psi…. Will my comp handle this gun for a hood??
For a hood it will be just fine it’s spraying large jobs where the compressor will struggle
I watched your video on painting the Suzuki black, I guess that was the 1.7 hvlp I like to see you use the 1.3 needle and tip from the hte on the hvlp and see if it sprays even better than the 1.7 using single stage.
John Ortiz unfortunately they aren’t interchangeable, I tried already
What about black widow hte vs hvlp gun?
Good stuff. I’m a DIY guy and I’m trying to decide on a gun. I’m looking at the Spectrum, Finex 3000, and the Devilbiss FLG670. Have you used any other guns?
Socal Stangman I have used all three , personally I didn’t like the flg 670, so that would not be my first choice, finex is a decent gun , spectrum pretty decent too. So I would say if it’s your first spraygun you wouldn’t go wrong with either choice
Only guns I haven’t sprayed with are high end satas they are just way out of my budget , anest iwatas are good guns, the Belleria is a great gun, I had one. Not sure what your budget is on a spray gun tho
Just A Mechanic ok cool. I appreciate these videos. Most do only high end guns and even though I can afford one, I really can’t justify one. It doesn’t make sense. I’d rather put that money towards other mods. I’m thinking I’ll give this Spectrum a shot. HF has a 25% off coupon for this weekend...thanks man.
Socal Stangman the money you save on a spray gun the more you can spend on better materials , you won’t go wrong with the spectrum line 👍🏻
The finex is a really good budget clear coat gun
See we are using this Spectrum gun in auto body class for primer. We are using Shop Line products.
How do you like it?!
@@Mechaniclyfe it works good for a primer gun so far. I do think if I was running a shop and was not a student I would invest in a better-quality gun. But for the guy painting the fender he replaced in his driveway, it's a great option at an affordable price.
I agree, I liked it for single stage as well, very large tip but didn’t spray to bad
High quality test and comparison 😳
What about the legality between the two . The black widow has a coating inside the head to keep it easier to clean for one thing and has a firmer feel with the trigger. The spectrum doesn’t have any coating in the head and the trigger isn’t quite as positive as the black widow. They are both good guns to have around but I think you will get a lot more uses out of the black widow and the Spectrum will go into a primer gun after a few uses if your painting 10 or15 car’s a year min full finish paint jobs the black widow will be the gun that you will be using blowing the final clear coat and maybe the Spectrum will be laying down the sealer and the 2k maybe will have to change the needle and orifice to a 1.8 keep it clean or else you will be tossing it and that goes for both guns or any gun
Great job
The black widow has an odd thread on the paint cup I noticed later that it's the same as my devillbiss
When I went to harbor freight the black widow seemed cheap
On the machine work
Gary Brown its an upgrade from the spectrum , Widow is forged where the spectrum is cast , it’s actually not bad . Sprays better then some high end guns , thanks for commenting
The Black Widow has the same threads as my Devillbiss, right down to the extra collar at the bottom.... just saying
@@KarKraftsman yea I notice it's real similar to my devillbiss too
I went with the spectrum for $99
It just seems tighter time will tell
@@Mechaniclyfe chevy cast ford forged both made some good motors
Cool video, even though they are pretty much the same gun. I have both guns the one advantage I found is the widow is easier to clean. I really wish they would make an in between tip the 1.7 is just too heavy for base coats a 1.2, 1.4 and 1.7 would be 👌
Tye Tash agreed ! Widow also has a slightly wider fan pattern not by much but it is wider. Spectrum still took it for the money 💰
Just A Mechanic totally when I bought the widows I thought they would be a lot nicer but definitely not worth the extra 75$, I think my next gun is going to be a strata but I’ll wait till one of these take a shit on me
I am a fairly new spray gun sprayer, I actually bought one of the Spectrum blue sprayers but haven't used it yet. And advice you can give meI would welcome gladly. I have done spraying before, but never felt too good about it. I really try to keep the tip 90 degrees from the work not bending wrist in the stroke at either ends. I have looked up all the pressure settings, I believe it says 35psi with trigger pulled. And use an in line filte. But things you had to lea4n the hard way, or things that might come to mind for someone wanting to become a better sprayer. And once again, if you have time to respond I would appreciate it. I subscribed and will be watching more to get any info I can. Thanks again,
Kevin
5:17 l sprayed over 30 cars with the blue spectrum, adjust your air at gun wide open as well as fluid, I found 30 psi good for base coat and 35 to 40 for clear, it really is the best gun for the money, l was getting mirror finishes and not having to cut and buff at the auto body shop,, lm painting in my garage booth now and went to a fugi turbine sprayer, 40 percent less overspray and 35 percent less paint,, only thing I didn't like about the spectrum was if your painting for long periods it gets uncomfortable to hold,, l did buy the spectrum black widow HTE and my opinion is it's the winner, the rear fan adjust and smooth trigger and lighter and more comfortable with a wider fan for clear,, well worth the extra 70 dollars.
Both made by spectrum, only difference is the widow has a 3 inch wider spray pattern much better clear coat gun but alot more over spray
I have never used a spray gun and have no knowledge on them but I am looking to paint a new home about 1500sq ft. Would either of this guns work for painting walls? Thank you for any help you may have to offer
Parmelia Thibodeau Unfortunately ,no on that one, the tip size is very small and both of these guns would have a hard time getting paint out and on to the surface, they do make a larger 1.7 tip on these guns I think you might be able to work with that size nozzle tip. I think you’re best bet is purchasing a Husky paint gun from Home Depot , I believe the tip size on the husky will be in the 2.0-2.5 range , you should have no problem with that guns tip size.
Go to homedepot and rent an airless paint sprayer for that.
Mam , u need one called the GRAYCO 360 true coat for your home mods!
For a house, go with an airless sprayer that can spray with a 517 or 519tip. That will get you a 10" fan(5x2) 17 is thousandths which is hole diameter. Yes it's small but 2000psi pushes a lot of paint. No need for an air compressor. You will learn to move fast to prevent runs. Over lap your rows 30-50%. HVLP is too slow in my construction opinion, with an exception for maybe cabinetry and trim. Airless for walls and ceilings...always. -Brian
You would want a larger tip if doing large vertical walls. The only reason I would use a hte or hvlp on a house is if I just wanted to do a wall or two and not clean out the airless gun and hose or trim work especially if it’s small job. The advantage of a paint roller is pushing the paint into the dryrock. Gypsum Sheetrock is porous unlike metal fenders and plastic bumpers.
Hey Just a Mechanic. The Nu-Evo clear coat you used looks interesting, but I cannot find it by me or on the Web. Can you share the correct spelling of the product, the clear coat part number, and where you purchased it from? I have a 1935-6 Ford tailgate I'm going to repurpose as a front of a mini-bar and am going to use my BW and your technique to paint it!
David Spencer sure , The NU-Evo premium clear is a very small local name brand. Their headquarters is in Garden Grove California. It’s a low voc clear. Let me see if I can google their website and see if they have distributors listed on their website
@@Mechaniclyfe Thanks. I live in WI, but would like to try some low VOC air-dry clear. Let me know if you find how I can order.
David Spencer looks like they old sell to professional paint stores, may want to try some speedokote from amazon , Marco from speedokote refinishing network swears by that stuff . Give it a squirt 💦 🎨

I just brought spectrum and am very happy 👍👍👍
Viorel Luchak awesome did you get the hte or hvlp?
You can see a better shine on spectrum
Honestly , it’s hard to tell the difference both perform really well
what psi in the gun did you use on the spectrum gun? great video by the way
Through My Eyes can’t remember off hand but I believe it was around 28 psi
Nice video! maybe you can do a video on what clear you use and how you mix it. Thanks 👍
I have a video on that, (how to mix car paint )
I seen it after I sent the message thank you!
I own both guns. Neither one compares to my 80$ Astro Pnematic Euro. Harbor Frieght is getting stupid with their pricing and product comparisons to name brands. Neither the Astro or Harbor frieght guns come close to the ease of use, quality, and versatility of my two favorite guns the Sharpe Razor and Devillebiss Prolite.
Astro EUROHE103 v. spectrum hte spray gun? Is the astro hte?
They will relatively be the same I’m guessing
so get the Black Widow if it's on sale
dez7726 precisely!
What size is the compressor you used for these guns in this video
30 gallom
You chose a winner, but didn’t provide any specifics as to why other than price.
Why not detail exactly why you made your decision. Bullet points are a good way to start.
Geez, I've now looked up 9 (nine) videos on RUclips and I've YET to see someone actually spraying a real car!!
I've sprayed 2 cars.... Spectrum did a better job for me. We have both guns....
@@Liquidsteel3 theyre both spectrum. I assume you mean the cheaper version and would have said black widow for the other am i correct?
@@JoeCnNd titled said spectrum vs black widow...cheaper version now I'm at 6 cars... 1.7 hvlp black widow sprays primer and 1 stage excellent for me..I dont like there isnt any spare parts. So I make sure get warranty
Great video!!! New subscriber here. Thank you! I’m sold on the spectrum HTE. Thank you for sharing and taking the time to compare in details. Do you happen to know what dekups adapter will work on spectrum HTE?.
I currently have dpc 10 and 11 adapters. Thank in advance bro!
Was gonna buy they black widow BUT it’s too pricey. I’d rather buy the Eastwood cc500 for that price point. Thanks to you and your videos I’m sold on Spectrum HTE. Plan to shoot summit racing - Sherwin williams two stage silver blue metallic.
Thanks for your sub! 🙏🏻, I can’t remember off hand but I have a video showing which adapters work for the Hf guns for the dekups kits. The price of the widow has gone up significantly they are about 220 right now they used to be on sale for 150 before so quite a big jump, the spectrum HTE is an awesome gun too tho , I’m sure you’ll be happy with it .
If you want the cc500 for cheaper go on alibaba and type in “ roxgen spraygun” roxgen is the company who makes it for Eastwood
Thank you! Man you are quick to respond!! Thanks :)
I try , some comments I can’t see tho.
Whats the diffrence of the Hte and the hvlp?
sergios602 thanks for the question I’ll try to explain the differences.
The hte stands for high transfer efficiency , similar to an hvlp meaning they typically meet the hvlp standards for transfer efficiency but not in all the zones. Also pressures will also be different usually hte guns spray slightly higher pressure then hvlp, hte really is a best of both worlds between conventional and hvlp, it’s sort of like combining both together to make hte.
Hvlp stands for high volume low pressure, meaning a higher volume of paint/efficiency at a lower pressure. This setup reduces overspray and wasted material, and transfers a higher amount of paint on to the surface of the panel/ or object. , typically hvlp are best for base coats , where hte are better for clear coat refinishing, depending on the gun of course.
In the example of the harbor freight guns. The major difference is tip sizes hvlp carries a 1.7 and the hte carries a 1.3 so in that, the 1.7 can paint much thicker paints where the 1.3 would be suited for finishing coats, like clear coat. Of course that doesn’t mean the gun can only be used for that , typically hte can spray base just fine, but at times struggle with some metallic paints, something you just have to play around with. Hope that helped
@@Mechaniclyfe would not a pressure pot be just as good as stepping up the tip size?
What air compressor are you using?
30 gallon kobalt
Hey mate do you know if Harbor Freight Tools ship internationally? Would like to get my hands on the Black Widow gun
Spiro Pittas that I would not know , I don’t imagine they do.
Just A Mechanic 😔
Spiro Pittas, I asked this question to them and they eventually got back. This was their response. "We apologize; we do not ship internationally, or to Freight Forwarders, Brokers, and/or Warehouse Distribution Centers if the final destination of the product is outside the United States." I was after one as well.
I enjoyed this thank you
Overspray what is your compressor setup for this video if you dont mind? Thanks I was thinking about poly for my hardwood floors
I have a video on my setup I recently posted let me get you the link for that vid .
ruclips.net/video/yJt1RcNGRPg/видео.html
Any gun can paint on a flat surface the true test is to paint both guns on a vertical panel
Spiro Pittas lays paint well flat or vertically
What's your air & fan & fluid adjustment on the gun
Full fluid, full fan, 28-32 psi
Why didn’t you spray the color out of the guns ?
Too make it easy
@@Mechaniclyfe , it’s been a year since you did i this , has harbor freight stared selling parts for these like , different size tips , needles , o rings ,
Nice effort! Thank You!
How would you compare it to devilbiss tekna prolite?
The pro Lite is one of the best spray guns in the world. Its is the most versatile with a choice of four different air caps and multiple needle and tip sizes. Will go head to head with any Iwata Sata or Sagola for a LOT cheaper than Sata. Super efficient. Its a personal favorite of mine obviously. I like Sata 5000b rp too but prefer pro Lite, GPI or w400 Bellaria for the price. As replacement parts are unavailable for harbor freight guns they are basically a cheap disposable tool. The other guns I mentioned will last a lifetime and are a significant investment. 👍
Tekna = better
Should do different things and maybe some vertically
Andy Lopez 👍🏻
Like the spray challenge. However I would like to see this again without metallic paimt being used.i have good reason to ask this. I've worked with metallic paints since age of 10,now 42( love metallic paints),duplicolor makes a great paint for the price( primer so so ,duplicolor clear sucks),2 colors iv3 problems with are the red and green metallic ( orange peel some times badly). Yet no metallic no issues. That's why I ask.
Both of those guns are made by Spectrum the Black Widow was just a high- and model of the spectrum line and should outperform the cheaper version
Garden of Truth you would think so but the spectrum still performs just as good as the widow , the widow only has minor improvements over the spectrum
@@Mechaniclyfe I've got the Black Widow I bought it over the lower inspection because of Machining looked better
Garden of Truth true it is higher quality should last you many years to come , it’s really a good gun
@@Mechaniclyfe I'm very impressed in how it sprays it's my first HVLP
Awesome 🤙🏻 it’s an awesome gun
what setting did u have it in
Jorge izquierdo Izquierdo for which gun?
I’ll just give both gun settings,
Black widow : full fluid, 26 psi, full fan
Spectrum: full fluid , 28 psi, full fan
thanks
I feel that this is a good comparison between the two. Proof was in the results. Pros and Cons was a nice touch. But yes, anything to save money is always in my favor. Great vid. Good job.
I like that flashtime
Yeah just ran a nice wet coat on it, the panels are house gift anyways .
Man u didnr even let it flash between coats lol but badass reviews man
joe roe this clear likes to go on wet! Thanks brotha
What is difference of the Hte model compared to the Hvlp
BACK2LIFE29 Hte is high transfer efficiency , hvlp is high volume low pressure. Hte carries a 1.3 should be more ideal for clear and base, where hvlp would also be good for base due to a high transfer rate, but carries a 1.7 so Ideal for more thicker paints and primers. Honestly both guns are great , but the hte I feel would be more ideal for everyday automotive refinishing spraying.

@@Mechaniclyfe Iltgey only had the hte in stock and I need to do primer and base coat on my car. Will that work with different tips or do I need the hvlp? Would like to use just one and buff it after. Thanks!
@@Fleshnbloodrobot depends on the thickness of the primer some primers are very thick others not so much , can you use a sealer? Sealer is much thinner and you’ll have a better chance of spraying out of a 1.3. Unless you have extensive filling to do then you’ll need a thick primer for sure
@@Mechaniclyfe appreciate that! I’ve decided I’ll just get the cheap “purple gun” for primer so se it can be a throw away and leave the nice gate for just base and clear(: thoughts?

Wonderful sharing
Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed
How would you rate these against durablock 007 ?
Jason Dayberry id prefer these over that 007 any day of the week. Those 007 guns are over engineered, and honestly they aren’t any good in my opinion. It’ll do the job in a bind. The design on the 007 is not only hideous, when wanting to clean the gun out half the gun comes apart in two pieces . It’s more work than its worth really. Hands down harbor freight on that one
@@Mechaniclyfe I will have to swoop some of those guns up then. My 007 guns use to work great with little to no peel but now they are old and didn't stand up to continuous cleaning using solvents ate the chrome plating. If you were looking to buy a more expensive gun what would you buy for your base and clear coat guns?
I was wrong about these guns being Identically the same, they ARE a little bit different.
No worries, no one knows everything including myself
And why are you shooting the color with a aerosol cans then wasting time using a progun to lay clear 🤔 if you want to show case a guns abilities and weaknesses you need a set of hangers shoot them standing up shoot the color and the clears both with guns and don't drag your gun so long on passes it creates build up unevenly
how long do you wait before you spray the clear over that duplicolor?
christopher groh when the base coat has become a dull finish that’s when it’s dried and ready for clear about 10 min
Don't forget he is using a lacquer based rattle can. Dries fast. If that were acrylic urethane base it would be 30 to 60 min depending on shop temperature and wether it was solid or metallic. 👍
Why do you only spray clear with these guns. Put some color in them, PLEASE. Use them for primer and base coats. Please. Otherwise, just use the rattle can clear.
Jon Woodworker will do
Jon Woodworker I spray clear with them because they are designed as clear coat or finishing guns, but they will do well with base too , primer is too thick to shoot with these size tips and really I like to use cheap 10 dollar guns for primer. But I will be shooting base for now on for those who want to see base being sprayed
I used the Black Widow HVLP today to spray water based Urethane on wood, as I am a finisher for a commercial cabinet shop. It did an excellent job. Looking forward to using the Spectrum HTE next week.
@@Mechaniclyfe , your saying this gun will not do primer ! What’s up with that ! I need some that will do primer, paint, and clear !
The hvlp 1.7 is good for primer , the tip might be too large for base and clear tho, But doesn’t mean you can spray with it for base and clear but it will be heavy for base ans clear and will lead to runs, for base and clear use a 1.3version
I got the spectrum today for $99
Sweet your going to love it
Slightly a misinformed video here cause the guns are the same, only thing changed was a plastic seal swapped out to metal seal from manufacture.
Incorrect actually , caps are different as well they don’t thread into each other , and so are the air distribution rings , along with some different seals for the trigger piston .
Other than that they spray very similar
Just A Mechanic ok, thank you for the correction 😎
that's not a real test if you're not gonna spray base coat!
They are both spectrum spray guns 😂
I need those guns lol.
Barbas Life haha yeah sorry these are mine! Lol actually the black widow is on sale right now for 150 best price I’ve seen on them since they were released
