As a former MARCHING 100 band member it was special to see 2 bands from 2 different cultures playing together! We are all one at the end of the day!!! MUCH RESPECT to the University of North Carolina for allowing this to happen!!!

This was so cool to see live. They also played Motown Philly, Lift Every Voice and the National Anthem together earlier in the show. Had the fun chance to watch the joint practice Saturday morning. Was cool to see those kids working hard together. Band kids are awesome people.
All I can say is this needs to happen more often would have liked to see FAMU & FSU pull this off especially since they are in hollering distance of one ano
I m a Tar Heel, and I loved it. Everyone around us loved it! Music is the universal language. Don't think there should be any negative comments here. Had to be difficult to work out their show. I would think they didn't get to practice together. Wonderful performance from both bands! 👍👍👍🎶🎶🎶
For all those who have an issue with this ... Music is a Universal language enjoyed by all cultures... these are kids who are enjoying doing what they do.... No further explaination should be needed ...
I loved this! I wouldn't want to perform HBCU style marching because I have no rhythm for a musician, and I learned the corps style, but I respect the hell out of the different styles. Love to see more of this.

As awesome as it was to have the two bands together - the cameraman was either an amateur or white - because everyone knows you can't see the true formation of a marching band's halftime show unless you are taking it from and ariel view. They were doing some wonderful footwork - and some great choreographic moves - but they were missed because the camera was taking it from the ground view - and I'll bet those students worked hard rehearsing for that half time. Do you know if anyone else got shots of the band from the bleachers or from one of the sky boxes? Would really love to see those.

Duke alum here and a descendent of multiple HBCU graduates. Got to say this was nice to see even if it was UNC. Lol. Seriously...good job and respect. It is an honor to share the field with the world renowned FAMU Marching band. Those Tar Heels were really enjoying themselves!

I marched at Rutgers years ago. HBCU style is high energy and you need to be in great shape. I was not coordinated enough to do it. Both styles are cool and have tradition
I was there in the stadium everyone was waiting for the halftime show. We knew something special was getting ready to happen and it did. It was great night music is music. To see those kids hug one another after their performance was awesome.
UNC did a great job of adapting to a different style, but by enlarged most of the UNC member did seem to enjoy themselves and it came across in the performance. Kudos 👏 . For others, looked a bit like a fish flopping around. #MakeAFishFoundation.
That was so beautiful to watch.. Two great institutions came together and make music, to hell with color, to hell with status. it was all about music.. Hats off to The UNC and The FAMU.. Classy very classy .. 👍🏽👍🏽
This was fantastic! I love how they infused some soul into UNC's band and had them dancin' too! The fans want to be entertained at halftime. Otherwise, they will go for concessions and more. The audience seemed to love this new experience! I went to Southern University in Baton Rouge and got used to this kind of performance. Unfortunately, here in Southern Cal, we don't see much of this in LA. So, it brought back fond memories.
FAMU came to the Falcon sound marching invitational a couple years ago and everyone absolutely loved it!! Just as much of not more than the corps style groups and universities. Music unites us, and it invites us to share the sounds and traditions we love with others. The marching arts are incredibly diverse, that should be celebrated!!

What these young adults did was bigger then music!! We give gen z a hard time but these kids are a different type of brave. This performance is legendary and they did it first !!! They will always be able to say they broke the norm and set the new wave the parents of these young adults should be very proud of them. I don't know anyone at those schools and I'm proud of them
I was there last week, not to see Taheel football, but because the Marching 100 were within driving distance. But I was amazed how these talented kids pulled off playing together and some choreography without rehearsing together. Amazing.
At an HBCU game the halftime is the game that being said Mama DRUM MAJOR IN THE BLACK AND TAR HEEL BLUE ( in the North Carolina Tar Heel blue posted at 4:54 knew the assignment , did her homework and the extra credit and turned it in on time
I was fortunate enough to be in attendance for this historic performance. The Marching 100 was actually extremely good and very entertaining throughout the evening. I sat close to them and the Tar Heel fans appeared to be in awe of what they were seeing and hearing. Hopefully more of this will happen in the future.
@@johncovington3065 yes indeed! I was at FSU in the late 80s/early 90s but I lived in an apartment complex not too far from where the Marching 100 practiced. So I enjoyed a lot of “free” performances!

Considering how divisive EVERYTHING is today it is really cool to see two bands perform together.
Those Unc kids can brag. They were a SWAC show style band👍🏾 they gonna tell that story forever😉😊 Even though it was for 5 min or less

Almost all music brings me some type of joy marching bands give me chills.
FBS & FCS bands performing together @ halftime, I love it & this is probably the most fun UNC has ever had during any halftime
