"Not only did you ruin my marriage. Now you also ruined my lunch" or whatever the right quote is. I wish we had an all Natasha's point of view episode of it all. Such a queen
Trey was such a sweet man. He tried. I think he and Charlotte were in love with the idea of each other but did genuinely care for one another. In the end he did right by Charlotte
oh definitely. trey married charlotte because he felt the pressure to settle down and knew he won’t be able to find someone better than her. and charlotte married him because he looked good on paper
Yeah. I don’t love Trey. He’s just not the kind of person I would mesh with in real life. But he isn’t a bad guy by any stretch. He’s decent and he does try.
Trey was a wreck, a total mamas boy. He wasn’t his own man by any stretch . He failed Charlotte on every level a husband could and that’s why he gave her the apartment. Guilt gift. He wasn’t at all a sweet man. The cardboard baby? Are you kidding???LOL
Now that I think about it, Natasha's pink dress is a similar shade of pink that Carrie wore when Big told her he was engaged and she made a scene in the restaurant. Except Natasha's dress is a little bit more classy and old school, while Carrie's dress was more modern and girly, even though she's older. Carrie made a scene like a child would, while Natasha's response was very mature and drama-free. The fashion aligned with their opposite personalities.
Natasha is Old Money, ergo her dress style & even hairstyle. She's Socially Acceptable, BECAUSE she is Old Money - & Young; ofc Big would marry such a person, he himself is technically Old Money🙏🇬🇧
It hits me that Natasha could be the “Charlotte” of her friend group. I really see some similarities between these two. And now imagine someone wrecking the marriage of your sweet friend “Charlotte” and some dude breaking her heart 😮
I was underwhelmed by the name John. I was shocked at how basic it was. I expected something more unusual or exotic and having something to do with why they started calling him big.
they called him mr. big because this nickname was supposed to reflect his status symbol as this awfully wealthy and powerful guy, or, in samatha's words - 'the next donald trump' 😂
16:47 everybody loves how non-judgmental Samantha was towards Carrie's affair with Big, but I found her response totally lacking, especially since she knows how bad he is for her. When she found out, Charlotte's disgust and her sympathy for Natasha were more appropriate. Sometimes a true friend tells you what you don't want to hear.
I don't think Samantha was truly non-judgmental, it was almost like a PR response. Carrie was in the gutter and Samantha just withheld her real feelings, instead giving Carrie what she wanted. I think Samantha knows that Carrie is just wildly selfish and it wouldn't make a difference what you told her. So maybe your last remark nails it, in the moment Samantha wasn't being a real friend. She probably just thought it wasn't worth telling Carrie the truth and then having to be guilt tripped or manipulated by Carrie over it.
@@1bwashwhy would Carrie guilt trip and manipulate her? Say what you will about Carrie but she knows she did wrong she just needs to know that her friends still love her despite her self destructive behavior.
Exactly! A friend who just tells you what you want to hear , at the end of the day, is not the best friend. When Samantha says judging is not her style, the true answer would be that she has no problems with people being unfaithful, because she herself practices a complete free sexual lifestyle with many partners at the same time, so scolding Carrie for cheating on Adidan with her married ex would be out of Samantha's character. Samantha is as judgemental as everybody else when it comes to things in contrast to her life style and outlook. For instance, she very often judges Charlotte for her more traditinal life wishes.
Samantha understands that Big is extremely attractive for Carry because of his rich lifestyle. Carry looks for a man not with a drama but a party socialite with funds to such a lifestyle. All the girls have a passion for a comfortable life full of brands and mostly get it in different ways: Charlotte married into money, Miranda works her ass of, Samantha uses her sexual power in career (not like Italian girl with fluffy shoes, but still we see examples like redemption through new affair after being banned for countless affairs with married man, calls to exes for job interview etc.). Basically we see how Carrie tries all the types of men but falls hardly for a prince out of her childhood fairytales: rich, handsome, no financial struggles, he has a very light appealing aura for Carrie - old money, no problems. And Aidan is a self made with his own hand: furniture, house, he builds his happiness with his own hands. But Carry hates that lifestyle: cooking, cleaning etc. her childhood really did something to her
This is why I love Charlotte and Miranda! They usually spoke out when something terrible happened whereas Samantha closed her eyes on it all. Some things, like breaking up a marriage or cheating on your boyfriend are wrong and should be condemned by your friends.
Babe you did an amazing job and THANK YOU for pointing out that if Carrie was a MENTALLY STABLE perfect HEALED secure and loving woman, HALF THE PLOT LINES WOULDN’T EXIST! It’s called the hero’s JOURNEY for a reason. No one would watch a show I don’t think of a woman who had her shit together and had healthy peaceful relationships. AS MUCH as we should all aspire to that! It’s entertaining because it’s relatable and because it’s entertaining. The dude from white lotus just won an Emmy for playing a VERY morally reprehensible character but man was watching his train wreck character arc RIVETING TO WATCH :)
@@KasiaSopniewska I think your commentary is spot on in all aspects. Love your perspective with the +2020 filter. This remains one of my favourite shows as I felt like I still had my time with my girls even when I moved to the other side of the world. I was at the end of my teens when it started and it was groundbreaking in so many ways when it came out, especially the way women spoke to each other about sex and sexuality, gender dynamics, roles & expectations and even the class and race aspects. I have to say that I giggled when you said you 'Read that in the early 2000s that SATC was one of the first shows to use vulgar words'. Our age gap is blindingly obvious with that statement. Yes as you say some aspects Aged.Like.Milk. But also YES to SATC being shocking and groundbreaking, because if they didn't do all that the way the did, what you see on TV nowadays would not be standing on their shoulders in trainers instead of Manolos because 'back in my heyday' before social media made everything acceptable, SATC made it acceptable for women to talk, share, be honest, authentic, empowered and explore outside of the 'road expected to travel' for women +30&40 in life, sex and relationships. Thank god for all of them and god bless the 2000 versions of Miranda and Samantha. Because humans evolve, we don't stay in time capsules, but I am so happy for the full series run and I loved the first movie too. That is a time capsule I will cherish in my DVD box set (anyone else still have hers even though I no longer have a DVD player?). Wish they had stopped right there with the show even though a better written, less forced version of life in their 50s could have been equally groundbreaking. Alas that's not what we got *sigh* & + *shake my head in dismay*. We got the 'Aged.Like.Milk' version AJLT. YUCK!
I always thought that Samantha still being friends with Charlotte and Carrie just because she doesn’t really give a f about what people think about her. She perfectly knows everything about her and her life and enjoys it to the fullest. And if you’ll look closely Samantha is really wise character and I think she cherishes another aspects of their friendship. Besides their judgments there’s a lot of support, love and in the end acceptance. I have friends like this who judged me for different things and beside this judgement I found fear, unhappiness, trauma. It made me understand them more.
You're 100 percent correct. I had similar experiences with friends over the years and was very forgiving (when I shouldn't have been). But looking back I saw where it came from, and you nailed it. Being wiser, you see that.
I've been called confident my whole life... someone who is hard to offend. But really, I'm not confident at all! I just was not born with the shame gene 🤣😅🤣😅👌👌👌🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️✨✨✨😇😇😇
Your video randomly came up in my feed and I absolutely LOVE your channel. You talk about each episode with such a positive attitude, and it's so refreshing; and adorable! I'm going to watch all of them one by one, savoring each one for a different day. I only watched two so far. I'm a work-from-home writer, and this channel will be the perfect accompaniment to my afternoon lunches or tea breaks! You rock!! 👍💓
To answer your question about why Samantha tolerated Charlotte: Despite Charlottes judging, she loves all 3 women. Does she say mean things? Yes, but so do all of them. Lets not pretend like Samantha doesn’t make sly comments about Charlotte for her desire to lead traditional lifestyle. And that’s okay. It’s natural to butt heads and fight with friends that have opposite opinions. Aside from the twos disagreements, they both saw the good in each other. Charlotte cares for her friends, shows up for them even when it’s hard (example: showing up for Brady after her miscarriage), and is a beacon of optimism in a group full of pessimistic and realistic women. Samantha probably values those aspects of Charlotte, and that’s why she stays friends with her despite her judging. I think the episode “Frenemies” encapsulates everything I want to say
As I age I understand Samantha so much, I thought the same about her always forgiving the girls for the things they say and do but I do the same thing. I’ve had my feelings hurt by friends more times than I care to admit but show up for them regardless. It’s my own trauma and I would argue the same with Sam. We don’t know a lot about her childhood except her mom had several kids and her dad was an alcoholic. I get that as my parents both had addiction issues and caused me a lot of trauma so I forgive quickly and continually work on building boundaries as well as putting myself first. I love Samantha so much, I wish we got a spin-off with her.
I really don’t like the “Carrie ruined Natasha’s marriage” narrative. I mean THE MAN IS THE PROBLEM. It’s not Carrie, who is married to Natasha, and most certainly she didn’t swear love and faithfulness to her at the alter. It’s the man, who cheated. So it’s him, who ruined the marriage (if it ever was one tho)
Exactly… And a man that wants to cheat, is going to cheat. If it wasn’t Carrie, it would have been someone else. This is why I hate the movies so much. Big and Carrie marrying just doesn’t make sense. Carrie was his side chick and this girl he dated and used to have fun with… That kind of relationship never results in marriage. Certainly not a “til death do us part” kind of marriage .
If that's the case, then why was Carrie chasing Natasha around trying to beg Natasha to let her off the hook? Why wasn't Carrie pushing Big to make it better with Natasha? I agree Big destroyed the marriage, but it doesn't seem like Carrie thinks that way based on her actions.
I think Mr. Big's portrayal was great. He's so "old New York" and cosmopolitan, that's why he made a better match for Carrie than Aidan. I also think he's funny and smooth talking, my favourite moment is the one right before he tells her he needs a heart procedure, "let's fight and then we can make up". He was out of Carrie's league though, and tbh when she compares herself to Natasha, I always think "yep you're kind of right".
But also, Natasha was simple and effectively still a child, despite her old money sophistication. And ultimately, Big and Natasha both suffered from the results of rushing into a marriage with someone they idealized but didn’t really know.
Carrie is more appealing to big bc she’s exciting and emotionally lively. He reads her entire book and shows up to her book reading bc he finds her endlessly interesting and realizes his actions hurt her deeper than he could fathom. I love them together and it’s a shame people cannot see the charm and chemistry they have together
I am so glad this was recommended to me! There is so much more to say about Sex and the City and there's a lack of videos about it. It's one of my favorite shows and I enjoy talking about the flaws, the fun stuff, etc. I didn't know any of the backstory about Charlotte's Prada skirt, so I appreciated hearing about that. Also, I love all the ladies in this show even when I hate their choices. I have had friends who cheated on their partners with people who were married, and I wasn't happy with them but I loved them and understood their point of view. Carrie pisses me off, but I also feel for her. Thank you for this video!
OMG. Wow. Just wow. I've been having so much pleasure watching your content, but this episode is an 11/10. Sooo good. You've captured so accuratly the essence of the season, the characters, their evolution. And the fashion part! I mean... BTW, I'm old enough to remember the gaucho version of the dior's saddle bag when it came out, omg, how time flies... I've heared in a podcast (I don't remember which one though) that the dior galiano paper print dress was allegedly the most expensive piece of clothing the production had ever got for the show (Patricia Field saw it in the dior's boutique window and she bought it of the rack for SJP).
Interesting! in And Just Like That, the documentary Molly Rogers shows the white satin Dior dress Carrie wore at the end of season two (in the 'your girl is lovely, Hubbell' scene) and she said that at that time this was the most expensive dress they ever got. I wouldn’t be surprised if the newspaper print one was even more expensive as it recently sold for over 15k. But at the same time, maybe the podcast got it wrong?
I think the problem I have with Carrie is that she doesn’t really grow or learn from her mistakes. She had an affair… and then what? What is she supposed to take away from it? Cause she still invited Big over after Aidan graciously took her back. If she just makes the same mistakes, what’s the point? It’s not that she makes mistakes, it’s that she learns nothing from them. And when she’s surrounded by characters like Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha, who do make mistakes and grow from them, it renders her uninteresting in my mind. At least, not as interesting as the other characters.
I don't think you are giving the context of that episode enoungh consideration. Carrie was reluctant at first but eventually allowed Big to see her at Aiden's cabin after hearing how upset he was. She was worried about him and he needed a friend. Despite everything that happened she can't just switch off her feelings and stop caring about Big. That's one thing that Carrie does show realistically. The thing with Big and Carrie is they do genuinely care for each other. There is a spark, chemistry and bond. They just didn't know how to be in a relationship together. Neither were mature enough for a serious relationship.
I see, your point, but here we have to remember that it is fiction, and that the show must go on. If the main character learned from her mistakes, the writers would be out of entertaining and dramatic plots to keep the series going.
It makes me mad how she was desperate to apologise to Natasha but not to Aidan...she would never have told Natasha "you have to forgive me" 100 times yet expected Aidan too...he was so abused by her
I remember when this season premiered I was in my own toxic relationship with my version of Big. I understood it then and even more so now with the benefit of hindsight. There's a feeling of I don't care who Big is with now married or not. I was here before you and I will be here after you... which she was rather you think that's good or not it's true. I like Aiden however I never dug the whole cigarette issue. I just don't like when any stipulations are put on someone in a relationship. If you don't do.....I won't be with you. It's controlling and a red flag. I believe they used cigarettes as Aiden's stipulation really bc they wanted to faze out Carrie being a smoker bc the tide was changing drastically for main protagonists being smokers. Due to the fear of being bad role models for young women. But why couldn't Carrie make her own choice in wanting to become more healthy. It's so cliche to have her do it for a man. Not to mention how it starts Aiden off as a character. It just always left a bad taste in my mouth.
But they specifically refuted this once he was ok with her smoking because he already loved her. Many (most) people won’t date a smoker, that’s not unusual at all.
Aiden wasn’t controlling with saying he couldn’t be with a smoker, that’s ridiculous. He stated his boundaries upfront and she chose to quit and be with him based on that.
I too was in my own Mr. Big relationship at the same time as the show. I guess our own experiences led to our understanding of Carrie’s situation. I remember at that time, I couldn’t get away from them. It was like a drug. Even until this day, the desire, passion, intensity in that toxic relationship, has never been matched. A lot of what Carrie and Big went through, we went through. Except we never ended up together. He also passed the same year as the Mr. Big character in JLT.
@@KasiaSopniewska I actually love this season by season way ! And I also loved the House of Gucci fashion analysis ! I specialized in contemporary costumes in film, so I might be biased, but I think you could choose so many films, and the early 00s are not that documented yet. :)
Trey and Charlotte were meant to meet each other but not for romantic reasons. Charlotte started to changed her rigid dating ways and Trey grew a backbone and stood up to his mother when she tried to intervene with Charolette getting the apartment that TREY gave her. The fact that he showed up for the magazine shoot showed that he wasn’t a bad person. Basically via their not compatible marriage they were able to start growing. My heart broke for Trey because he revealed that his mother didn’t raise him, it was his nanny. So him always pleasing his mother and not setting boundaries wasn’t necessarily his fault; he was getting the attention he should’ve gotten growing up and didn’t know how to act. People want to think rich kids have it all but the reality is, is that those kids probably lack the very most important thing: which is healthy love and attention from their parents. A nanny shouldn’t be raising someone else’s child and not to mention, that nanny probably has children of their own. They divorced but they weren’t on bad terms at all which is very ideal so at least Charolette got an ideal SOMETHING from her marriage lol.
Yes, I really loved the Charlotte/ Trey story line. They developed respect and care for eachother, and had it not been for the child issue, they could have had a good marriage.
I literally had the Charlotte / Samantha relationship with a “friend” and I also spent a lot of time forgiving and excuse her shaming behavior. It was hard to get out because we were also both part of a group of four. It’s really not unrealistic! But I do ask myself why I hung around as long, and allowed her to be so hurtful to me for as long as she did.
I do think Steve deserves better in JLT. I hate what they’ve done to the Miranda character. However, people need to stop glorifying Steve as this divine man. He needed to GROW UP!
I love this video. You are truly passionate about fashion and thanks for having said that the newspaper dress by Galliano was inspired by Schiapparelli. Back to satc I don't blame Carrie for her flaws or even cheating on Aidan. As you said she was addicted to Big, she seemed very sorry to hurt Aidan. She's a anti-heroine and she could be relatable and very annoying. But what I don't like is she never learns from her mistakes. Like she took Aidan back to ditch him again, she complained about Big yet is addicted to the drama. Charlotte has her flaws but she does learn from her mistakes. She was brave enough to end the marriage with Trey, she listened to her heart when she dated Harry. Miranda is my favorite she's the most real to me. She's the only one you see really struggling with guys or just chilling on her flat. I agree with you Steve is a nice guy but his immaturity is really annoying.

6:53 are there actually windows like this in high rises in new york? Seems like a hazard was that just for the show? Ive never seen windows so low to the ground unless there on the ground floor and even then the sill is around knee level...
I also didn’t realize until watching these clips but outside of the lunch scene, Natasha is only in white, a color associated with youth and purity that juxtaposes Carrie
It's the affair that did Carrie in for me and the constant disrespect for Natasha. Big VS Aidan for me is the choice between growing up and changing or staying the same. She always chooses to stay the same.
Big grows and changes as well they both go through a journey of their own to better be there for each other and a lot of how big grows is through his relationship with Carrie that’s why he loves her by the end. He reads her entire book and learns about how his aloof avoidant nature hurt her and feels so much remorse he comes to her book reading to apologize. Big in the beginning of the show would never do that.
I think Charlotte meant that she asked Samantha to be a bridesmaid so she wouldn't fell left out. She would still always be invited tho, just without the involvement and hassle (matching dresses) as a bridesmaid
Is it that shocking to question dating a bisexual man? Surely we have the right to wonder if that’s right for us without passing judgement on the other person. A gay man might also have an issue if his partner is bisexual. Being truly open and accepting if people is being honest about how you feel without shaming someone else for who they are. I also think the Samantha story line was based on a very jealous sister and if I am not mistaken based on a real story. Todays audiences read too much into it. In a later season Miranda dates a black doctor and it’s not even a thing. I find And Just like that more racist with it’s ridiculous self consciousness and awkwardness.
@@jewdeastandards is crazy. If a bisexual man is with you he’s with you so what if his past relationships were both men and women. What is the difference between that and a straight man? How does his past relationships cross a boundary? It’s just simply prejudiced
I know... he loves the countryside, she's "a bonafide city girl". he likes to stay in, she likes to go out. they had such different hobbies and lifestyles it's crazy that their relationship lasted that long
The problem with carrie... shes not complex. Shes annoying. Selfish. Selfabsorbed. Shallow. Refuses to grow up or mature or take any sort of responsibility in any way. Shes like a man. Wants it all for free. If this is relatable to you after 20, good luck. Your life is gonna be one big disaster because everybody will see through you sooner than later and laeves you.
I get your point and respect your opinion, although I can't agree with it. I believe this show would be boring af if Carrie had it all together, never made mistakes, and was always likable, supportive, and relatable. Like, imagine watching six seasons of a show about a girl, who has a perfect life, perfect friends, and perfect boyfriends, her hair is always shiny, and her biggest problem is choosing which pair of Manolos to wear. Yawn.
It's not really annoying. I think you're just annoyed because these are traits you see in yourself. I love Carrie. I don't understand how you can say a person with those aspects you named as not being complex. Your perfect version of Carrie would be boring to watch. Everyone is on the I-hate-Carrie bandwagon. No thanks.
@@KasiaSopniewska It's not that Carrie isn't perfect; it's the fact that she never even bothers to improve herself and always gets away with everything. No one in this series is perfect but the thing is Carrie does literally have all of those things you mentioned without putting the effort: perfect friends even though she's always been a selfish friend, perfect boyfriends (Aidan) even though she cheats on them (she even cheats on Big in the second movie, and her 'punishment' was to get an even bigger ring from Big), her hair is always great and she has a great body even though she looks down on exercising and eating healthy, she keeps getting promoted in her job even though she acts unprofessional on more than one occasion (getting drunk at Vogue just because her boss dared to give some constructive feedback on her writing), she has her financial problems taken care by her friends even though she's the most financially irresponsible person. At the end, her biggest problem is really choosing which pair of Manolos to wear, and she doesn't even appreciate that. I can go on. I love the series and watched it many times but the problem with the Carrie character is not that she isn't perfect; it's the fact that she's never faced any consequences for any of her mistakes.
@@KasiaSopniewskaBut I think people's problems with the Carrie character isn't that she's imperfect (most love the other 3 being imperfect), it's the Carrie is pretty transparent in how she operates. For example, Miranda is genuinely a cynical person and that's her defense mechanism, Carrie will adopt cynicism when it's convenient because she wants everyone fussing over her "oh don't worry Carrie, you'll find someone, you're amazing" - everything just feels like a device to have the world revolve around her. It's like who actually is this person besides someone with an intense need for validation?
Carrie was 100% the worst and it's probably just the nature of her being the main character. SJP is a great actress, but it's her acting that makes Carrie seem self-centered. There are so many scenes where you can literally see her fidgeting if the conversation isn't about her or see her thinking of how to steer the conversation towards her.
@@1bwashthey literally all do that. Charlotte can’t even be happy Miranda is pregnant bc she can’t have a child. Samantha will derail a serious conversation to talk about her vibrator. Miranda turns so many conversations into a pitty party for herself. I love them all but Carrie is constantly framed as way worse than she actually is. She is never acknowledged for what she does for her friends and how well she understands them each as individuals
You need judgemental friends, otherwise they're not really friends, you shloudn't be scared of the truth especially when it's coming from a someone who has the best intentions for you.
Thank you for Bunuel, Antonioni & Twin Peaks ❤ Belle de Jour is one of my fave films. And, although much less often than before, there's still loads of people who date /marry people they're not that into because they fear loneliness. They even convince themselves that that's love. And yes, as annoying as Carrie can be, I relate to her. ❤
I hated Carrie, she was always self-centred, judgemental, shady and cheated on a great guy ! She was never good . I loved "Sex and the city" but hated her, i really liked Sam and Miranda, they did have flaws but they were good , good friends to Carrie , meanwhile Carrie was always such a b!tch to them . And Carrie was disgusting to Natasha . I literally hated her in this season
I just rewatched the show. And I noticed how incredibly Carrie was changing season by season. For first 3 seasons she was absolutely like a low-class person and then we are observing her transformation to first class lady. I thought that we were girls has the pretty much similar experience - the shifting from 20’s to mid 30’s
You clearly have a forensic understanding of the nuance of this series/season, I know virtually nothing by comparison. However, I do have a keen eye for cinematography and thought I'd recall your attention to the elevator scene where the Carrie/Big affair starts. Though you may think the content of the scene is disturbing, and i'm sure many would agree, from a cinematographer perspective it is a stunning accomplishment in capturing the subject moving through a non static environment in a relatively fast paced scene. All of this is done in one, spectacular, sweeping, panning, 360 orbital SINGLE SHOT, with no cuts and no edits. It is probably the height of this series camera work, and one I always refer to as a genuine accomplishment of this show.
And she is extremely genuine! Carrie will sometimes go into a cynic mode, but it is always more of an act in order to fish for compliments and affirmations.
Field's brain is like the Empire State Building! Big & stylish when it comes to fashion. Carrie was supposed to marry Aiden, doesn't & then supposed to be alone. There's no way on this planet was she supposed to be with Big John, LOL!
I have a problem with ppl who throw SATC and Friends to the trash because of being " problematic" . Yess in both shows we've seen outdated views and yess maybe Friends was " too white" but these same ppl forget that SATC was the pioneer at talking so openly about female sexuality AND Friends is so ahead of its time with the lesbian couple " sharing " a child with a straight man, breastfeeding, Phoebe marrying a canadian gay guy to help him with papers but ending up falling in love with him . To those ppl i say SO WHAT , at least those characters were multidimensional and FLAWED BUT REAL
I'd love if at the end of the _And Just Like That_ Carrie revealed her friends really were just made up for her columns and books. And that Samantha "left" because Carrie, as prude as she is, just thought there was no use for the spicy topics simply due to her age.
Lol 😂 I’ve seen every episode hundreds of times, literally… I love fashion… I’ve literally never heard anything about that lipstick skirt. I didn’t even remember it. It’s funny how biased this RUclipsr is because they own some thing from that collection… It’s literally literally not a thing 😂
4:07 Like what happens to Charlotte xD So symbolically this skirt is a symbol of who she is and the relationship she is about to be in. I like the skirt yet there is something almost too perfect about it.
Charlotte said she only asked Samanatha to be a *Bridesmaid* so she wouldn't feel left out - that's completely different from not wanting to invite her to the wedding! Also Samantha being chilled about Carrie's affair was not because she was non-judemental, it's because she also had affairs with married men, and didn't see anything wrong with it. The test of whether someone is judgemental / not judgemental is when you do something that goes against *their* opinion. You see her being less judgemental when Carrie doesn't have the money to buy her apartment - something Samantha would never do.
Why does Samantha put up with Charlotte's bullshit? I think it's because she doesn't care at all lol. Charlotte stops existing for Samantha the second she's out of sight. Samantha loves Carrie and likes Miranda, so she accepts Charlotte as a by-product of those friendships. And she truly doesn't have it in her to care about what someone as judgmental as Charlotte thinks about her. It's one of the many things I love about Samantha: her unparalleled ability to not give a single fuck.
interesting point and I know what you mean. I made this analysis simply because I wanted to educate others and say 'hey, this collection is amazing, I'm sure most of you have seen it, but it has a very sordid history and I think we shouldn't forget about it'.
hm, I would usually agree but wearing something that expensive for the upper class when inspired by someone who has to wear a newspaper.. its just a tacky picture lol
@@MarieTheOstrich As someone who works in the industry, I can assure you that never even crosses a designer's mind. They're artists who just see inspiration in the world around them.
For me it would've been my friend barging into my apartment unannounced and calling me privileged, my work insufficient and demanded that I pay off her irresponsible spending debt. All simply because shes too proud to take money from the man she's been sleeping with for years. Charlotte has given more good counsel than not. None of us are perfect but Carrie was off her rocker at an alarming rate that episode. I do agree with protecting Samantha, the show was not kind to her. Requiring that Samantha sleep with her best friend underaged son would've did it for me too.
Sorry Big will always be Carrie's #1, they were soulmates. Aidan, though I love him first time around, buffer post Carrier round one Aidan is a dick and not even on purpose, he should have followed his gut and not given Carrier a second chance. He isn't that type of person to just let it go, as was shown MANY TIMES.
Charlotte is the best character. The most realistic and actually also the kindest and most complex. And having just asminimum of ethic standards does not make you rigid or prude.

This isn't in season 3 but when Carrie dedicates her first book to, "my dear friend, Charlotte, who always believes in love," I cry EVERY time
Trey was such a sweet man.
He was immature and mothers little boy. Nah.
Absolutely. He was a wonderful guy and neither of them wanted to hurt one another. I will always have a soft spot for him.
Natasha is Old Money, ergo her
dress style & even hairstyle.
She's Socially Acceptable, BECAUSE she is Old Money - & Young; ofc Big would marry such a person, he himself is technically
Old Money🙏🇬🇧
I watched a video with the exact same analysis, either the creator ripped you off, or you ripped them off 😂
It hits me that Natasha could be the “Charlotte” of her friend group. I really see some similarities between these two. And now imagine someone wrecking the marriage of your sweet friend “Charlotte” and some dude breaking her heart 😮
I love when Charlotte said she‘s been dating since she was 16 and she’s exhausted. Where is he!
Mood
I was underwhelmed by the name John. I was shocked at how basic it was. I expected something more unusual or exotic and having something to do with why they started calling him big.
they called him mr. big because this nickname was supposed to reflect his status symbol as this awfully wealthy and powerful guy, or, in samatha's words - 'the next donald trump' 😂
I think they called him after “John Doe”
I was so stupid when I was younger I thought the nick name referred to his penis.
holy cow thank you so much for doing a deep dive on the lipstick skirt that was so interesting and enlightening
Exactly!! That's why I loved listening to the artists commentaries that were included with dvds. Magical! ❤
The dude from white lotus just won an Emmy for playing a VERY morally reprehensible character but man was watching his train wreck character arc RIVETING TO WATCH :)
indeed! also, a show about a woman who has her shit together would be just boring and uneventful
Lol no. There would be much better plot. Shes literally stuck in her 15s. Forever.
@@jarkachalmovianska7812really? So why don't you paint a picture for us and explain how exactly that would work?
i think there's a difference between making mistakes and been unstable versus been an asshole no one can tolerate.
YUCK!
I cant believe thats the idea behind the Dior newspaper dress. Im mortified 😮
Big is a piece of work, but so is Carrie, so birds of a feather🤣 And I disagree. I found Mr. Big hilarious.
he certainly had his moments like SHE CAN REACH ME BUT I CAN'T EVER GET HER 😂😂
He was very funny!
@@Boobalopbop exactly! Very unrealistic
She is part but not the whole blame! Me big knows he was a married man
It’s not even his first marriage that end because he cheated. Long before Carrie was in the picture
Thank you for this video!
if you're looking for more SATC content I can wholeheartedly recommend a fabulous podcast called Every Outfit
@@KasiaSopniewska Hey, thank you! I didn't know they had a podcast!
OMG. Wow.
God I love samantha jones she's definitely a true friend kim was brilliant in the role 💚💚💚
I genuinely related to Carrie this season instead of hating her because it is hard to see someone get married and realising you are not the one😌
Yes, that is relateble but not the cheating.
@@Facetterdkwell she wasnt cheating
Omg I love your voice and accent! I would absolutely love to watch every episode of SATC with you and talk and laugh about each scene lol thank you!
Love!!! This was such an enjoyable recap. Hope you do rest of the seasons!
season 4 review coming soon
Oh I love your skirt analysis!
And that makes her quite realistic.
It makes me mad how she was desperate to apologise to Natasha but not to Aidan...she would never have told Natasha "you have to forgive me" 100 times yet expected Aidan too...he was so abused by her
You just blew my minds with the Prada lipstick skirt background and the foreshadowing 🤯
Someone help this girl find Natashas pink dress designer !
sign petition: we need to know who designed Natasha's revenge dress
This deserves WAY more views!
SJP declared that she actually smoked and then stopped. So maybe it was just SJP trying not to smoke. 💨 😅
Aiden didn't give Carrie an ultimatum.
He just said he couldn't be with a smoker.
She choice to quit.
It's about compatibility!
My fav season is 6, it's the most realistic and wholesome with miranda's marriage and samantha's cancer ...
true! I always cry during Samantha's speech at the breast cancer benefit
I always wanted to know more about Natasha's dress...
It does look more vintage for sure
Great review! It really is a great season. So nostalgic now
I'm glad you liked it! and yeah, it is incredibly nostalgic

Charlotte at least ends up showing some growth. Samantha really had a lot of patience with her, though. I don't think I could do that.
Samantha slams Charlotte as much as the other way around even though that is talked less about.
She felt sorry to hurt Aida? Well, not sorry enough to not cheating on him.
Because of your video I started watching SATC. Thank you for your service, I love it so far.

This is one of my favorite seasons, too. I think part of it is that everybody looks SO GOOD this season.
yes! Carrie with her tan and blond c-c-c-c-curly hair looks like a cherub this entire season
I also didn’t realize until watching these clips but outside of the lunch scene, Natasha is only in white, a color associated with youth and purity that juxtaposes Carrie
Watching this when I’m older I’ve noticed Samantha has such a kind, nurturing side 😭
This is such a great review!
I love your content and your execution!
thanks! glad you enjoyed it
It's the affair that did Carrie in for me and the constant disrespect for Natasha.
No you see having boundaries and standards is homophobic these days 😂
@@jewdeastandards is crazy. If a bisexual man is with you he’s with you so what if his past relationships were both men and women. What is the difference between that and a straight man? How does his past relationships cross a boundary? It’s just simply prejudiced
Carrie and Aidan weren't good for each other they seem so not compatible
I know... he loves the countryside, she's "a bonafide city girl". he likes to stay in, she likes to go out. they had such different hobbies and lifestyles it's crazy that their relationship lasted that long
I had no idea John Galliano was such a problematic person. He is the right designer for Carrie😅😅😅
Same here
The problem with carrie... shes not complex.
No thanks.
Who hurt you and didn’t buy you Dior ???
I like your video. Fresh analysis and independent ideas
Prada was so, so, so cool. And Miumiu too.❤❤
There is nothing outdated by not wanting to date a bisexual guy. Everyone dates whoever they want.
I completely agree, the outdating idea to me was that he was just gay or loose. That's where she lost me.
there were times where all 4 of them were shitty, judgmental friends throughout the series. it’s weird how people single carrie out
I think they secretly see themselves in her but they don't want to admit that
no.... carrie was def the worse lol
Season 3 was my fave season too 😍
Thank you for Bunuel, Antonioni & Twin Peaks ❤ Belle de Jour is one of my fave films.
You deserve to be the group "star" 🌟
I just rewatched the show. And I noticed how incredibly Carrie was changing season by season. For first 3 seasons she was absolutely like a low-class person and then we are observing her transformation to first class lady. I thought that we were girls has the pretty much similar experience - the shifting from 20’s to mid 30’s
Since I watched it I can’t start a new series I rewatched the satc 6 times help😅
hahaha same! what's your all-time favorite satc episode?
Spoilers
Aidan is coming back in the new season of AJLT
I know! and he smokes now 🙄
@@KasiaSopniewskano way! 😂😬
I miss Stanford ❤
RIP Willie Garson
people project on to Carrie...they forget she's not real.
exactly!
Isn’t she based on the real author who inspired the show
Personally, Miranda was the most interesting character. Cynic, intelligent, hard working, funny.
And she is extremely genuine! Carrie will sometimes go into a cynic mode, but it is always more of an act in order to fish for compliments and affirmations.
Season 3 is my fav!

Do you mean homeless? I’m a bit confused
2:27 “and we Stan Kyle McLachlan in this household”
Lol I love how you said that 😂
Your videos are so classy
Is anybody gonna talk about how meranda is mean to magda ???
What??? Magda crosses so many boundaries she should’ve been fired. She was forcing her ideology onto Miranda as if she wasn’t just hired to do a job.

Okay but Staten Island Iced Tea Charlotte is adorable. Get it girl
Natash and Carries relationship reminds me of the song I’ll think of a reason later (look it up it’s amazing)
I'd love if at the end of the _And Just Like That_ Carrie revealed her friends really were just made up for her columns and books. And that Samantha "left" because Carrie, as prude as she is, just thought there was no use for the spicy topics simply due to her age.
I just finished season four and it’s my favorite so far
I adore Samantha always and forever 😍😍😍
Lol 😂 I’ve seen every episode hundreds of times, literally… I love fashion… I’ve literally never heard anything about that lipstick skirt. I didn’t even remember it. It’s funny how biased this RUclipsr is because they own some thing from that collection… It’s literally literally not a thing 😂
4:07 Like what happens to Charlotte xD
So symbolically this skirt is a symbol of who she is and the relationship she is about to be in.
It's one of the many things I love about Samantha: her unparalleled ability to not give a single fuck.
exactly. sometimes you just hang around a good friend of your other good friends. friends by proxy
Big is not an interesting character at all! totally agree.
Look New York we have it all! Even the Flu
She looked absolutely amazing in that baby pink dress 😮😮😮
I'm sorry for homeless Parisians, but fashion is art, art reflects life, and I'm totally against censoring art because it's not ~politically correct~.
interesting point and I know what you mean.
Is the censorship in the room with us? How is talking about the problematic inspiration of the collection censoring art?
For me it would've been my friend barging into my apartment unannounced and calling me privileged, my work insufficient and demanded that I pay off her irresponsible spending debt. All simply because shes too proud to take money from the man she's been sleeping with for years. Charlotte has given more good counsel than not. None of us are perfect but Carrie was off her rocker at an alarming rate that episode.
I do agree with protecting Samantha, the show was not kind to her. Requiring that Samantha sleep with her best friend underaged son would've did it for me too.
Has anyone noticed that Samantha either has scenes with all the girls or with just Carrie.
Yes the show is outdated, but it’s still a good show. HBO knows how to make good shows.
Call old fashioned but I don’t want to have a committed relationship with a bisexual man either 🤷🏽♀️
SATC writers really loves brazil... we kinda need a samantha spin off living there
