- Hard times hit the GNR. Underpowered locomotives for the increasingly heavy express trains, meaning that the engines are struggling. CME of the GNR, Nigel Gresley is put to fix the situation by designing a new class of express locomotives to replace the older ones. However, the process of getting the desired per-formance from the locomotive was not as easy as hoped.

No Fucking "For kids" setting for this video
Glad to see Henry, Emily and Gordon make an appearance in this show. 😁
I highly enjoyed watching this and seeing the root of Henry's and Gordon's origins was remarkable.
Speaking of Gordon, yeah his first sentence made me want to smack him. I've never felt that way about seeing a character introduction before.
Like how your backstory for Henry is less illigal
Illegal*
Ik
Well i mean hardly
Sir Topham Hatt still got sent the wrong engine, but at least it was an internal decision from the GNR's leader instead of a competitor stealing some blueprints.
Yu
I really like this origin story of Henry, Gordon, and even Emily got an appearance.
And Alice
@@jordandorsett3106 I love it when Emily meets Mr Conductor.
I've especially wanted to mention that I personally noticed that the sketch of an official experimental hybrid 4-6-0 steam-driven railway tender locomotive that'd ACTUALLY been designed by Sir Herbert Nigel Gresley got featured in this video clearly showing how Henry the Green Engine came into the spotlight despite being a failure due to a small firebox from the start were obviously the same exact plans that an officially unknown locomotive builder stole in the year of 1919 WHILE ALSO DEFINITELY holding a grudge against him as specifically well-knowingly mentioned by GWR studios! Also, apparently for another fact is basically that the reason why Henry the Green Engine's firebox was considerably very small was basically due to the obvious observational fact that Sir Herbert Nigel Gresley had no choice except to sacrifice the size of the firebox in order to fit it between the last pair of drive wheels!
Amazing work! With brilliant visuals and writing
I really enjoyed this. Great job on this one.
I'm your fan
i am your fan
Amazing backstory for the engines, I hope to see Emily and Alice's arrivals on Sodor soon.
Who’s Alice what’s her class What’s her livery
and who’s face does she use
@@Weezsafan Alice is the engine in 10:57. She is a Great Northern Railway C1 Atlantic 4-4-2, her livery is GNR Green with her Number being #288, and her face is original, created by WildNorWester.
I personally just suddenly came up with the officially well-knowingly clever idea of completely recreating Henry the Green Engine's own official complete experimental hybrid design from scratch with modifications that officially include bein' completely converted to burning fuel-oil instead of coal meaning that there's no complete need to get the expensive supply of Welsh Coal SINCE the Fat Controller himself certainly happened to basically have said that it's very shockingly surprisingly expensive!
Great job fan of hiro!
I cant wait for the LBSCR part!
Or GWR
This feels very underrated. Great job dude.
Thx!
Nice job man, keep up the good work. I hope you will post a new video of Engine Arrival sooner or later.
thank you so much.
I thought you will never make this!
this gave me some more information
Absolutely love this keep up the good work
Great work and I look forward to the next one.
A great video and a great story 👏
Can't wait for more engine arrival episodes to come out!
Love the TUGS intro music, very classic and nostalgic. 🌊 🚢 🦭
YESSIR!!!!! I didn’t even know this was gonna release
(Henry when he hears about Shawn's acomplishment) Henry: Great job Shawn you deserve it! Shawn: Thanks henry!
Beautiful absolutely beautiful
25:43 That lil' jazzy tune right there is just calming 😌 If you have a soundtrack for this video, I'd be much appreciated of you to give me the name of every theme you put into it, even though there are some Thomas themes I already know. Still, that jazzy theme there is positively my cup of juice to enjoy listenin'. I'm a fan of jazz music in general.
I like how in most head cannons that Henry is built off of stolen gresley designs,But your series contains no illegal Stuff(Like Corporate Espionage).
Amazing. Now, will it be a Southern or Great Western Big Four next?
So if Henry is part of an A1 but Gordon was the A0 I'm guessing Henry's plans were drawn incorrectly and improved upon to make the A1 whereas in other versions Henry's plans were stolen and were a incomplete plan of the A1s which were still being developed
I've especially wanted to mention that I personally love this video shows a much less illegal backstory of Henry the Green Engine who's apparently been personally built a prototype of a new locomotive created by the famous locomotive designer known as Sir Herbert Nigel Gresley along with the introduction of Emily the Stirling single class steam locomotive created in 1870 by Patrick Stirling for the Great Northern Railway! In fact, it's completely obviously clear that I've personally decided to absolutely incredibly include Emily in Engine Arrival as well as especially in the famous series of NWR origins! In fact, it's completely obviously clear that I personally WOULD definitely like to also apparently include Alice in both series very easily!
I also like the intro that starts at 1:35 and ends at 2:31. It is using the Tugs ending theme which is impressive.
From C1 to Henry 4-6-0 Atlantic, From Henry 4-6-0 Atlantic to Shawn Atlantic 4-6-2 Pacific, From Shawn Atlantic 4-6-2 Pacific to Gordon the A1 Pacific
Gordon is actually a A0 while the other Pacifics are A1s and then later A3s
Henry is a ten-wheeler as an Atlantic is a 4-4-2 while a ten-wheeler is a 4-6-0
@@rainierbagatsing1073 Gordon gets rebuilt into an A3
Victor tanzig would be proud
Very good video, a lot of research went into this, well done !
For anyone wondering why Henry is 1467, Sean is probably 1468 while Gordon is 1469
Wow Good job me man in the video oh and i did know that engines but great video👍👍👍
Wtf
I had a stroke reading this 💀
A minor gripe I have:
If Sean is successful, that means the LNER doesn’t need an updated design (i.e. Gordon). They could just use Sean’s design to build new locomotives
Shaun was the prototype of the Raven A2 not Gresley A1
cant wait
Hang on, if Shaun (or Shawn) was built before Gordon doesn't that technically make him the A0 and not Gordon
Maybe they were both A0s?
Nvm i hadn't watched the video all the way when i commented that
I read an article the other day on the TRLOTTTE website. Apparently, Henry is an A0, not Gordon. He is just another A1 prototype.
Shawn was a Raven A2 Prototype, NOT an A1.
@@haydennorris3672 Really? That's interesting. I never considered the Raven built 4-6-2s.
I agree with them
I just noticed the NWR blue hiro
This is an awesome video and cool
Amazing
I just thought of something.
Flying Scotsman was No. 1472 before he became 4472, and according to The Great Race, Gordon is older than him. Given that the A1 numbers originally started at 1470…
*Is Gordon Great Northern?*
Well, if it weren’t for the Thompson A1/1 it’d be more likely, I suppose.
Number 4470 was rebuilt in to that Thompson A1/1 but lets forget it happened
I Hope Emily is having a Engine Arrival Very Soon.
The fact she was there the entire time in the back
The crazy thing about the A1s is that they're British copies of the PRR K-series.
... yeah, that's a bit of history that Britain basically suppressed.
I wondered what Henry’s and Gordon’s life was like before Sodor.
Nice!
Did Sir Federick Banbury get fired for not sending Topham a GNR C1 Atlantic
27:01
This part made me smile
When henry enters the LNER Service, his number Will be change to 4467. But That number had been used by the A4 in the real world, that is “Wild Swan”. But Henry’s number is 3 not 1467
They were all eventually scrapped. Only a few preserved or in the museum
It a very good episode although I have only one grip with it
and that is Gordon's origins
That's because fun fact Gordon's ancestry doesn't come from the UK but rather from the US as in 1914 the Pennsylvania Railroad or PRR, No.1737 rolled out of the Altoona works, she was the first of the PRR's famous K4 Class Pacific's and she is regarded as the first modern pacific to the point she influenced many Pacific designs around the world including Gresley's famous A1 & A3 Pacific's
Info on PRR No.1737: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania_Railroad_1737
Info on the PRR Class K4: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania_Railroad_K4_class
or maybe it was just inspired
Question, what happened to the old shape Henry with the c1 firebox?
he probably got left to rot
Was here to watch movie
I like how your headcanon that henry and gordon are related
Lol! Serves you right, Gordon!
20 hours till this is 24 hours or 1 day old
Hope the next episode is the Gwr
Or LNER
27:07 Wow, fresh out of the works and already Gordon’s acting like a jerk
Gorden has never been that mean nor rude. thats so very stupid. BUT over all good video
Railways then: "We need a locomotive type for every situation, we don't want to have to double-head"
Railways now: "We need more power? Just stick that old SD40-2 on the back of the consist that's already being pulled by three SD70MACs and call it a day."
Largely because one US railway went all in on that, which ate their money like jet fuel. Union Pacific kept having problems with multi-heading trains, so they designed locos that could do it single-handedly. The problem was that designing and building such locos not only cost a pretty penny, but their maintenance also cost them as much. Let alone the entire gas-turbine fiasco (they got it to run on Bunker B oil... just as Bunker B was discovered to be a good feedstock for plastics).
Eventually, UP was forced to do the same thing as everyone else because it was _cheaper_ in general.
@@TheTrueAdept
It was more due to the limitations of steam power, as you couldn't just drive multiple steam locomotives from one cab. Even if you could hook up their controls for MUing (which was done in the UK and Europe with some tank engines for push-pull service), you'd still need a fireman for each locomotive. And even then you'd have no real way to account for inconsistencies between each locomotive in the consist. It was just easier to have the right locomotive for the job than to try and make due with a bunch of multi-purpose units.
Also, the PRR went all-in on specialized locomotives as well, not just with steam but with electric power, and kept doing so up until their merger with the NYC to form Penn Central.
Who was that other LNER Class A0 engine that said "You are no longer to be trusted"?
Why does Henry have a big boiler? Looks very out of preportion
I like Shaun's character but I got a feeling hes gonna be scrapped
If Gordon had been numbered, I'm guessing he would have 1469/4469/60034
Umm, what do you use for the shunting yard
I skipped the intro and I heard the man say sh#t
Epic
No way cause I was watching this and why a old version of my oc pop up lmao (8:25)
Can we get the lbsc next . Then the gwr
so gorden and Henry end up on the same railway in later years and later emeliy
Love how Gresley looks a bit like Charlie Chaplin… 😂 Was that intentional? 7:28
Also a fan of the IRL footage during the construction montage ❤ 8:45
Yo what’s the theme song for the video called
how did you film in that route? ian't that the payware Kings Cross route that trainz gives you?
It is. It was quite challenging, since that route is quite laggy. But it somehow worked out
If you plan on using Emily in your future episodes can you please please pretty please give Emily her season 9 to 12 / Edward season for 25 whistle please if it's her better than her original season 7 or CGI whistle. Please respond when you get this please.
All my Doncaster Brothers
35:35 whats the name of that song?
Just as an idea, how do the engines know how fast they are going?
In the next engine arrival episode
What is the music in the intro
where did you get the models,if i may ask?
me at 2:26
me: ah so it's lms, lner, gwr, wait... stepney is from the lb&scr....... WUT
It was so bad the ground grew yellow wires
In my headcanon molly arrived with henry in 1919
So great Northern and gordon are the same in this
Man gordon really showed him
Henry *(the mixed a1/c1)*
What route did you use?
Please make thomas brown in the big four
Agreed
why?
no lbscr e2's with extended side tanks were painted brown
Do it to where Shawn gets bought by the Sir Topham Hat ok
Along with the other ones that being the Atlantics
he has a unknown builder
(Do Shawn Engin Arrival Plz)
I like Trisha and i hope their is a future for her.
I bet i can catch this kinffe *throws the kinffe up into the air and the kinffe hits my face* AHHHHH A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A

Wait, Why gordon is still on a GNR Livery when he in a LNER Service?
He will get it once henry's on sodor
So, I’m guessing that Gordon is meant to be 1470 Great Northern.
Yep

Shawn
