@@CuldeeandGodred_p no I know but back in the 30s everything relied on trains rather than the roads so there were ALOT more railway lines and think about how many branch lines there are
Well, considering the length of the NWR, both it's main and branch lines, the maintenance required by steam locomotives, and the need for the NWR to provide a stable and frequent service for the citizens and visitors of the island, it makes sense to have a load of engines at your disposal. Take just for example the Brendam Branch: You got a three station line, on which you have a scrapyard, a small industrial estate at the middle station, and a harbour with freight-only line further towards another big freight customer. Even if you want to run, say, an hourly service for passengers, you require at least two locomotives for these, one running, the other being serviced in the shed for it's next run. Then you need at least two further engines for freight services, one keeping itself occupied on the Wellsworth-Brendam runs, while the other deals with pickup runs and shunting at the aforementioned industrial estate. On top of that, it would serve to have another engine at Brendam to shunt at the harbour. Of course, the SCC engine(s) usually are around for that, plus shuttle runs and shunting around the clay pits, but that's still two further engines in steam. That totals at seven engines for the Brendam branch, one of the smallest and shortest branch lines of the NWR. In all honesty, the NWR is pretty good at juggling their engines around, in order to maintain a decent, frequent passenger and freight service for as long as they did with only 3/4 heavy goods, and 4/5 mixed traffic engines on duty
Wow, Nick really is good at learning from his mistake and good at making fantastic strategies which work pretty damn well thanks to his smart meditation. I hope Simon learns to change his attitude by being more humble and mature of himself in the future. Ethan is definitely a very kind and helpful engine which you have to give him credit for that type of good attitude.
I can't wait! I love it when more than one engine shows up. BTW, this may be jumping ahead, but what year do you plan on bringing in Diesel, and do you have a name planned for him?
I wouldn't say having more express engines than mix traffic engines is a problem, it just kinda shows how the NWR's traffic has naturally developed. Also, if there's increased demand for local passenger service but freight demand hasn't gone up, a dedicated commuter engine or even a railmotor would be fine. Here there's obviously a need for mixed traffic engines, but in the future, if there's a situation where there's lopsided demand, it might be a good idea to bring in something more specialized.
Man, Nick is so [_] relatable I swear to god. I just get lost in thought and when i snap out of it, i always say "Man, I just felt like i was in a movie." bc it feels so weird to be back. Nick is relatable.
Silly me I almost forgot to mention there are six other engines. I want to be introduced into the series like the first three they have bases to. LNER P1 2-8-2 LNER P2 2-8-2 LB&SCR L class 4-6-4 FURNESS RAILWAY 115 4-6-4 L&YR HUGHES 4-6-4T and L&YR class 8 4-6-0 just wanna mention
One more thing if it proves successful, you can introduce four other characters the bases I would choose for them is basically the London Britain south coast railway engines classified as J1 4-6-2 and J2 4-6-2 and the H1 4-4-2 and the H2 4-4-2 like I said it’s successful enough for you of course
So obviously I’m a little wrong here, but here’s a theory: Nick had latent savant syndrome. I know things work differently between humans and non-humans, but savant syndrome can come from being in the autism spectrum. And the lack of communication and presence, is similar to how I used to be before I was diagnosed with Asperger’s Autism. It’s fascinating that I feel represented by this wonderful character.
Why would topham buy Atlantic tank engines for mixed traffic duties? In the preview we see at least one is a 4-4-2T which is primarily suburban passenger so I’m curious to find out if they all are like this and why they would be mixed traffic 😊
Well the Trainspotting session that was shown not so long ago said that Ethan and his brothers are one of the most used engines on passenger trains. So maybe their arrival will help with both this and goods trains given that more passenger engines will mean that mixed-traffic engines can help more with the goods (*James complaining noises in the background*)
@@animeboy9307oh that’s a good point. He said he was fixing the problem but not exactly how that problem was fixed. Perhaps they run some of the slower stopping passenger trains so tender engines like James can be moved to other services
well Nick surprised me NGL they say beware the quiet ones now i'm assuming Peter the 8F will join soon because we still need to solve the goods situation but it'll be interesting to see were these three will go.
