    at 14 living here since i was born, this city isn't unfriendly. i meet so many random people while I'm out and about and have had some great interactions but also so bad ones to. i think its the fact that people don't look friendly, I've been told many times that i look mad at people when i just living life so i would chalk it up to that.
    literally if you are trying to make friends go to the beach, the beach is usually full of nice people. i would say one of the best memories I have is starting a open court volleyball tournament with many 15 strangers.

    Hey Adam, another great video! Frankly much of what you are saying could apply to many other cities. A few observations. First if you go to Craigslist and check for 2 bedroom apts in Vancouver (not greater Vancouver) 1500 to 2000 a month you get 851 hits. Try the same in Edmonton or Calgary at 0 to 2000 month 2 bedroom and you get 81 hits COMBINED!!! And both of those cities are far larger in space and population than Vancouver. So more choice and more cool neighborhoods in Vancouver. Second, your point of going carless is far more doeable here in Vancouver due to weather and extremely safe and efficient transit, once again compared to Edmonton. Trust me we moved here 8 years ago from Edmonton. Ditched the car, got transit passes and a motorcycle. I live in the westend and work in Burnaby. One last thing. Treat yourself to the new Safeway on Davies with FREE covered parking!! Cheers.

    yesterday i saw the average rent of a 1 bedroom here is now $2500 . its so expensive now and i have been here 30 years . its the last 10 years that it got unaffordable really . living now between toronto and vancouver i would say toronto is way more friendly. winter is many many months of rain and there is near constant construction and road work throughout the city . don't expect the great street shopping of new york or even bloor west village . main st is cool but mostly for restaurants and specialty retail , parts of kits are this way too but generally you will have to travel a bit for grocery and essentials. transit is just ok not great . so i would say if you already have a car and lots of money you will like it here but you will have to be ok with lots of rain and a fairly chilly local population .

    A few things; The insurance company does not "take advantage" of young drivers. Young drivers are responsible for the most accident claims. You are a higher risk. 2. People that live downtown are the worst, especially Kitsilano. You will not find more pretentious, self absorbed people. 3. Biggest thing; it rains from October to April, and then still rains a lot in the summer. Total, about 8 to 9 months of the year. The weather in B.C. sucks.

    Yup, the more people you live with the less your pay, my experience living in a villa in W Van 😎 yes, less privacy but since March 2020 I really appreciate having people around, plus I have my own bathroom and huge room, so it really works out great; with friends same, you have to find things that you like doing and then it’s easier; cars - yeah, crazy insurance and parking... and yeah, feeling disconnected a bit in the city yes, but it’s not an unfriendly city at all, small neighborhoods are great 👍

      Live in Richmond or Delta. Depending on what are you looking for in a place to live, you may want to consider the other areas surrounding Vancouver like Port Moody or Port Coquitlam, or Coquitlam and even Surrey, the biggest city in the Metro Vancouver area. North Van is a good place too but it's also pricey and parking like Vancouver is almost always an issue, but not as bad.

    I have lived in Kits for 30 years. Very expensive. Lovely people and great community but minimum wage would mean sharing a place with a couple of people. When you move and immediately start work or school it is much easier to meet people, but that is true of anywhere. Vancouver is very laid back and I welcome nee people whenever I meet them. Yup, you go to the beach a lot when it's new! Like most things, when living here for many years, not so much! But when you first move here, for sure the beach is a huge draw! I love Kits, in part, because it's such a fabulous walking community. I have a lovely car but rarely need it. It's a huge environmental city, and we love car alternatives. Vancouver is awesome!!

      Most likely you will still need a working visa to get into the Canadian economy. You will pay Canadian taxes with the money that you make from that job. You should apply for a working visa for Canada- but you will have to have a job lined up here and for them to sponsor you. Assuming you get the Visa, you may work and/or live in Canada if you desire until you leave that job or stay for a certain amount of years, at which point you will be able to get citizenship if you stayed for long enough or married a Canadian, or go back to the United States.

    When did an "order" or a "mandate" become a "Law"?? A law is an enforceable set of rules approved by the majority of representatives of the people who voted for those representatives to represent those peoples best interests. Mandates and orders are being issued by individuals who were not voted to represent the people. And they are promoting these orders and mandates as "laws". And they are not. Until people rise up and rebel in large enough numbers, such that it overwhelms the system of control, the people will be controlled by those with ulterior motives. All in the disguise of safety for the masses.

    Truth: people are generally nice to you, however it’s extremely difficult for you to make friends if you are a non-European immigrant. Unfortunately 😔

      ha, non european immigrants are themselves not very friendly or welcoming to others or not adjusted enough to even be pleasant to be around, they are very rude/racist.

    How is racism there

    • @chiplease
      @chiplease 3 года назад +3

      Usually, it's not overt. There's definitely been a spike in anti-Asian hate crimes recently though. You might hear that Vancouverites have a passive, surface-level "politeness" which I'd say is true, but it depends on the neighbourhood and I'd say the same applies to racism. In my part of the city (the northeast) I'd say I've felt pretty safe and welcome.
      Of course, everyone's experience is different, so you might get an array of answers depending on who you ask. I grew up in a suburb about half an hour outside of Vancouver and our neighbours in the late 90s literally told my parents they're so sick of the influx of us Taiwanses immigrants. However, it got better over the years as they moved away (coincidentally, as the area became more multicultural).

    • @AdamJBell

      It definitely exists, and these comments above most likely have a better answer than I do^ Just because I can't say from my own experience, but I have seen it.
