A very misleading statement at 8:25 (the whole work permit sections is such a mess, actually). There’s no requirement to have lived in Canada for 3 out of 5 years to get a PR. That is a rule to become eligible for citizenship. For PR, there’s no requirement to stay in Canada BEFORE getting it, but there’s 2 years out of last 5 rule to maintain your PR status.

Canada adjusted to a 1:1 scale to other countries is one of the most expensive countries in the world to live in. Our housing market alone is absurdly hyper inflated, any good or service that crosses a boarder is through the roof because of taxation and outsourcing, etc. A more accurate statement would be "if you're living comfortably where you are then you will live comfortably here".

You just need to be able to prove that you have the intent of getting PR and settling in Canada for long term. So they are still wanting to stop people with work permits from just investing, then leaving the country.
In the case of buying a property while having a work permit, you will need to speak with a lawyer to be safe :) Which any real estate advisor you use should be able to connect you with a good one! 🏡

Oh hey, it's JJ! Greetings from across the border in WA! Vancouver, to me, is like if Seattle were more international and a tad nicer. I also used to live near Osooyos in Okanagan, and was amused that Canada has a wine country. talking about size: I also forget how big BC actually is, and Washington isn't a small state. The western provinces are wide and go a long way up.

  • @eliasarches2575

I live in the Lower Mainland of BC. I do not recommend living here. If you ever want to buy a home and if you want to raise a family with a good standard of living I do not recommend. Wages are not keeping pace with the cost of living. If you are young and don’t mind living in a tiny apartment/basement suite, it’s a great city.

Adam, I have a minor point of feedback. This is not the first time you casually mention you need to spend 3 out 5 years to apply for a PR status. This is a common misconception.
You are likely confusing it with Canadian naturalization/citizenship requirement. In fact most of the FSW/Express Entry applilcants apply "outland", and come to Canada for the first time in their life with "confirmation of permanent residency" paperwork on their hands. Immediately after landing they become full-blown permanent residents.
Canada's immigration system is very different from EU/USA in this aspect.
