Im a neurosurgical icu nurse and want to be where youre at. It was great seeing what a typical day as a CRNA is and this motivated me. Got my CCRN, next is my GRE!!
I’m start nursing school in the spring! And becoming a momma and CRNA is my dream and it’s really nice seeing that you’re doing AND loving both! I’ll be where you are in a couple of years 🤞🏼
@@TheWildFam ***Sorry so long. I am a TERRIBLE explainer however am aware of, conscious about and have improved hugely the last couple years.*** My name is Tiffany, I'm 40, currently live in the Dallas Fort Worth area of Texas; I'm 40 and a single mother to my & my ex's youngest son. I hate Texas but am moving to Tennessee in roughly 9 or 10 months. I decided to pursue medicine but did so a bit too late. After years of being intensely passionate about wanting to become an attorney, further research determined earning a JD would not earn compensation matching the salary I require. I know medicine is an incredible field to join, especially for those wanting to make great money. However, I am not interested in performing surgery. However, I desperately want an actively intellectual & interesting career allowing me to help improve patients' day to day lives. In addition, as anyone would, I want to earn a very comfortable salary, mainly so I no longer need to tell my son, "I'm sorry babe, I don't have enough today/right now"/"I can't afford it"/"That will need to wait until ______." That being said, no matter which specialty, subset etc., I choose, it's still 10 years ➡️ BS + MD + residency. By the time I finish, my son will be 17 nearly 18 about to leave for college. It seems like, in states where CRNAs can practice independently, anesthesiologists basically get paid so much more for the years they grinded during their residency vs the couple years of work you do as an RN. I want to be a CRNA but am wondering if I would feel like I would've wanted to be an anesthesiologist instead for the pay alone. Great video btw!
Ive wondered that too. My greatest fear would be going to med school and not getting an anesthesia residency and having to do some other low paying specialty that I hate for the rest of my life.
@@TheWildFamOh wow, that's intense!!!! But I love it! 😂 Haha. Those CRNA program curriculum do look intense but doable with a lot, I mean a lot of hard work, and many, many prayers. Haha. Thank you so much for sharing, Sarah! I really appreciate it!
So! What are some CRNA MUST HAVES? Obviously stethoscope but anything else? Fanny pack? Caps? Pen light? My wife is starting work soon and I was just curious!
Hey, lady!! Wonderful video, thank you!! I’m a 1.5yr idk RN, and I am always going to charge nurse, asking questions, coming across things I haven’t done.. do you work with a team of CRNAs? Do you have someone to run to in case of uncertainty? Being a critical access hospital, I wouldn’t anticipate a ton of professionals in your specialty… I could be wrong! ❤
I actually have an AMAZING little group of CRNAs & we all help each other. No matter how experienced you are in your practice it’s always good to have someone you can call for back up.. when I’m on call overnight it’s just me, but throughout the day we all work together 🫶🏼 they definitely made sure I was comfortable when I first started.. & there were times I would call one of them in the middle of the night for a second opinion!
Hi Sarah just found your channel and are starting at the beginning and loving all the vlogs. So interesting your job and then such a huge close family. Really enjoying them. Thankyou so much for sharing what you do and your life it’s awesome. Sending loads of love from Western Australia love leisa xxx
Working and pumping is the worst 😂- ❤ I had those portable pumps that I would wear in the OR ! I’d love to bring you on CSPA podcast to talk about your independent CRNA practice if you are interested 🙂
Recently found out your YT channel and I’m hooked up! Thank you for all your effort in making all these informative and helpful videos. Still trying to figure out which route to take, AA or CRNA.
Crna is better than aa but if you have a bachelors in something else besides nursing and aren’t a nurse then aa would be quicker but their pay and autonomy isn’t as much as a crna
Is there a blurred line between what you do versus an anesthesiologist? You seem to be doing everything, yet they get double the salary 🤔 Do CRNA’s have any restrictions versus an anesthesiologist? Thanks!
Just depends where you go.. we actually don’t use anesthesiologists just CRNAs! & yes we do the same thing & they get 2x the amount .. I think that’s why more & more hospitals are going CRNA only!
Hi! Like Sarah said, Anesthesiologists (MD/DO) do get paid more.. but for a reason. They are physicians, not Advanced practice nurses. Physician training is much more in depth, extensive, and grueling than an advanced nurse provider degree. Most CRNAs that have more autonomy and better pay than “city” CRNAs live in less desirable places and that’s just a fact.
@@user-fo5qg9hx9z all true!! I would agree MDs have a more “well rounded education/training” in medicine. They have to study in dept all avenues of medicine! We just study anesthesia/nursing in depth. But when it comes to anesthesia specifically we are trained literally the same way! CRNAs are training right alongside anesthesia residents and do literally everything they do (in regards to anesthesia).

You gave us a quick picture of your hubby…..does he work in the medical field?
