You have no idea how much trouble I was having with this thing. Most videos just gloss over it like it's nothing. But I couldn't get it in at all before your video. Thanks!
Yeah! me too, I would just keep it without it, until next cleaning maintenance takes place. Does anyone know if something wrong can happen to the mobo without it?
Had mine poking outwards for about 2 years after doing my first build. Knowing that they don't all need to be bent inside sorted out my problems, thanks a lot!
Thank you for this, thought I was going crazy last night when doing my first build.I felt like it was really blocking my motherboard (B450 Tomahawk) to the point the board was slightly off from the standoffs. I just had to push in a little bit and then screw them in simultaneously. From the comments about shorting the board from the prongs, I am now going to re-check that none of those metal prongs are inside any of the ports.
lmao i totally relate to this comment. it even got to a point that i was scared coz i had to push in the mobo to the io shield. might scratch or damage the bottom of the mobo :((
thanks for the demonstration. I was afraid to put pressure on it to pop it in but your example gave me the confidence to send it. The first component of my PC is now in snuggly my tower 🙏
I/O Shield was the part that gave me the most trouble. Wasn't installing it, or forgetting it, or anything. The tabs just would not let the motherboard go into the slots smoothly. Took about two hours before we just ripped the troublesome tabs off. Computer was built for a friend and he's had it working fine for years now, so I guess it worked out in the end.
Thank you, probably one of the hardest parts about putting my motherboard in was worrying about damaging the ports while putting it in. I watched your video, and bam, the io shield went in no problem
Thanks, mate. First time in ages I've meddled with this and was a bit skeptical of what I was doing. Perfectly back on track now. Great video, clear on all instructions, well shown.
@@Robtech it seems you installed it backwards because the labels are on the inside of the case its supposed to be facing outward so you know what each is when plugging something in And those tabs are a pain tbh I cand fathom plugging something in and having to fight them gripping something trying to be taken out after especially considering how you have them bent How is this really how it's done it makes no sense on a few levels
Installing an IO shield, now that is niche marketing! It helps those in need and makes people feel good about themselves who mastered this on their own (like me)
So that maybe why it gave me an electric shock yesterday when i plug it in for the first time. Anyone knows any way to fix that? I don't think that's safe for me or for my curious cat.
I don't build PC's - except the NUC I am now building. I still love you're channel, & am learning with each video. Cheer's from across the ditch in NZ ! 👍👍👍
Thanks Mark! Will be useful in the future if you decide to build your own. More NUC videos coming as always! Went to NZ a few months ago. Lovely place.
This helped a lot, we had the grounders pointing in thinking they were supposed to secure the motherboard or the port or something haha. Next step: securing the board to the case
6 years ago when I built my current rig (it's getting replaced today, which is why I looked for a video like this) this was the hardest thing about building it. I just could not get it to work. If the IO shield was in, I could not screw the motherboard to its standoffs without a small amount of warping. I was *very* uncomfortable with this and after spending entirely too long trying to get it to work, I gave up and put the IO shield back in the box. This case has no dust filtering so I was always going to need to stay on top of cleaning it anyway, so it made little difference. Thankfully it all went fine for the machine I built for my husband 2 years ago (easy to pop in, no issues with motherboard fit), but I did want a refresher. Thanks for this!
better to double check before you screw the motherboard in place, the thing that you say help ground the motherboard can sometimes be out of place, just built a pc the past few days and the ones on the hdmi port 0:55 actually went inside the hdmi port instead of touching the outer parameter.
With my b550 board the io shield is connected to the board, the case says it's compatible with the board but i'm having trouble fitting it into the io shield spot. any suggestion
Bro this video means a lot to me, no video/person will explain how to fully assemble a pc. This video helped me out so much, thought i had a pc case that wouldn’t match my MOBO 🥲
Are I/O plates usually the same width? Because I'm looking to get a new motherboard and I'm not sure if the plate will fit in the back without covering some connections.
@@Robtech At least the rectangle dimensions should be common? Otherwise how do you make a new case. I want to build a case myself and then people to be able to put their motherboards.
I thought I did something wrong because there is no sort of graphic on it and didn't know what to do with the pins. Thanks, why does Asus make them so basic?
With a brand new case you'll get all the screws you need. You'll need a Phillips head screwdriver. A magnetic PH1 and 2 are commonly used, or you can buy a multi head screwdriver kit to let you pick and choose the head you feel most comfortable with.
Seriously! This is missing in every PC build guide! I would never thought i have to bend the io shield's pins in order to fit
Yeah seriously this has been the bane of my existence trying to do my first build
Info on installing an integrated IO panel is virtually non existent
amor p ?
All of those videos were saying just put it in the case, without explaining anything about the prongs
You have no idea how much trouble I was having with this thing. Most videos just gloss over it like it's nothing. But I couldn't get it in at all before your video. Thanks!

I had the motherboard, CPU, and stock cooler installed before i realized I forgot the IO Shield, so stuff was taken out and the IO shield was put in
😂😂
Very well done, covering the basics that are not typically presented.

Thanks mate, helped heaps, so simple and straightforward unlike other channels you earned yourself subscriber
Thank you mate. Glad it helped you out!
Thank you so much for this video. As a first time PC builder I apparently need every tiny step explained to me in great detail.
It’s a very complex process

OMG Dude. I've been trying for the last half hour. Your opposite-corners-first trick helped do it in 2 minutes! Thanks a lot.
HUGE help after spending an hour trying to get it in myself, lol! Much appreciated!

Anyone else sat here with a fully built pc without the IO shield because a tutorial skipped over IO shield installation
We are not the same
Even my motherboard instructions said nothing about it
Not what I was looking but slightly amused that someone actually made a tutorial for this lol.
Wow I can't believe there was a video for this! I had no idea what to do with those prongs!
Oh, so those little things are for ground, I always cut them off 🤣

TFW the IO shield you always get stuck with has tabs instead.
Welp, pliers it is then.
I build a lot of PCs but never took time to properly install the IO plates. Glad i finally learned it lol

you was 100% right about cheap cases i couldnt put my until i removed the fan and just clicked right away..! ty for the info :)
This is probably super easy for most people, but it helped me out, first pc build !
Thank you so much 😊 this really helped me after i had already installed my motherboard and had to uninstall it to get the IO shield in first 😮😂
Thank-you! None of my other instructions told me how or when to install this. Subscribed!
Thank you my friend,. May the force be with you

Thanks as a beginner i needed this video. Something that is taken for granted.
Opposite corners is the best method. Thanks!
Ive always called it the bastard plate! Even after all these years i still cant get them in!

Great video! I forgot about my I/o plate while installing my motherboard.. could I encounter any problem if I run my pc without one?
No you'll be fine.
Razvan you’ll just get more dust in your pc
Is it necessary for all the pins to touch the motherboard? I tried bending it but some of the are just shy of touching them. Thanks?
Not necessary, no.

It also helps to lightly pre tension those brackets he said rest on top of the motherboard slots to help the motherboard fit flush to the playe

I'm planning to build a pc soon, but I got a quicc question
does the IO board come with the case?
