Stoked for this series! It's always a really cool and valuable resource to test ships for players trying to make a choice. I'd definitely say that the corsair is probably a better ship for a solo pilot than the connie, judging from this video and others i've seen. However I'd love to see a video judging the combat abilities of these two ships at their fullest extent. Both of these ships are multicrew capable, and they have plenty of turrets for people to use. Fairly certain the Andromeda also has a missile operator mode for the copilot, which could be useful. I think I've seen a few videos of fully manned fights between the two with the corsair coming out on top. But that's not all there is to explore. What I'd really like to see would be these two fully multi-crewed ships WITH snubs trying to take each other down in combat. After all, is the andromeda really being used to its full capacity if there's a snub fighter in the back that isn't being used? The corsair as well can fit quite a few furies in the back. Which of these ships can scuttle their fighters faster? Would the andromeda's more integrated docking collar give it an edge? I think these types of engagements remain untested, and even though snubs are in a bit of an odd place right now in terms of usability, I think it's really important to parse out the capabilities of these two ships in that respect. That's the content I'd really like to see. In any case, great video, keep up the good work!
Connie can hold furies in its elevator too. So it has quite a bit of firepower. And both ships could upgrade their weapons to fixed guns and stronger shields. Would be interesting to see what they could do at max firepower and strength
Had the Corsair in the hangar for almost 2 years before it came out, staring at her beauty in the launcher every time I'd load in. Melted it the day it came out. The bullet spread is awful and because of that, the ttk on a hammerhead solo is actually slower in a corsair than a connie. The Connie is also way more handy during things like jumptown or runing salvage cargo. I wanted to love the corsair but a connie is in the hangar now instead.
@escapetarkov3838 Hey brother I'm a Taurus pilot myself and I love my ship as well. Weighed it against the corsair when i made a decision, but even though Connies desperately need a total rework at this point, its STILL got amazing utility all around, moreso than the corsair. Awesome fight! Glad the Connie won the 3rd round. 😀 But the extra guns on the Corsair make a big different in general. I'm looking forward to the next fights. 👍
It's not really fair since the Connie's lower guns are nerfed to one size lower because of the landing gear, also its an ancient ship compared to the Corsair gold standard. The difference in the amount of missiles is pretty huge. I would love to see a combination of a Connie and a Corsair take on a Hammerhead, that would be epic.

Cheered like a small child when the Corsair won, and I admit to"Booooooo" when the Corsair lost. Don't use the stock missiles myself, Rattlers, I wish the S3 variant had scaled in proportion
Seen a video somewhere that this happened, the snub made a massivd difference when you have a skilled pilot. Lets the connie shields heal while it keeps the corsair distracted and keeps its shields low.
These were great fights. Thank's for putting in the effort and time to make these vids. they are so great. The connie is def my favorite ship though I routinely fly both. Of all the times I have taken on a corsair in my connie I have won only twice, but I think it was not by trying to square up with guns blazing. The corsair just puts too much hate down range to face tank. IMHO the move, is to keep baiting it into passes with all power to my shields, and then flipping around to lock 2 of the S1 missiles, and letting them loose. This causes the corsair to have to bleed their flares dry or eat the damage; either works for me. Then you keep it up with the Size 2's after they are low or out of flares. Once they are softened up enough that you might be able to win the race to 0 nose HP, thats when you square off for the gunfight. Sadly that will all change in master modes and I will need a new strat lol. also RIP the merlin that got splatted off the connie's belly in the third fight lol
connie cannot fight the corsair in a straight up brawl, even fully crewed. it has to fight on its own terms, at range with its missiles. otherwise it'll get shredded by the stupid amount of firepower the corsair has.
@@lifes2short4bs73if we're cooking with max crew, there's at least two furies coming out of that Corsair to deal with that Merlin and then harass the Connie! I've heard of people packing three but I wouldn't want to be launching those in a combat situation.
Great video! It would be interesting to see a match with both ships fully manned. I'm a little salty watching the Connie get blown up (twice). I'm wondering why not use the Connie though with its strength against the Corsair? If you remain just out of gun range and start lobbing single missiles to blead out the Corsairs flares, and then start sending volleys of size 2's it's a done deal for the Corsair. I was surprised it was so hard for me to watch the Connie getting defeated, but thank you so much for making the video. RLTW
Connie's always win if u can blow a wing off or damage the Corsair thrusters it stops turning. But the Connies hardly ever loses control even close to death. But the Corsair does have more damage when on target.
Id appreciate a different manufacturer making a ship parallel to the corsair. Out of all the drake ships its definitely my favorite, but versatility is appreciated.
I think solo the corsair will have the upper hand in a fight but if the turrets are manned, the connie has the upper hand since they are more effective that the ones of the corsair.
@@Leach-ez7dq true but their range of motion is saldy really lacking. I think connie turrets still have the upper hand because they'll likely score more hits.
@@Smap_SCYou need to manage your distance properly. The Corsair's side turrets can't hit targets directly in front of you when you are too close or too far. If you keep the enemy at the right range, you should have no problem landing shots on target. Against the Constellation, the Corsair has the advantage of speed and acceleration, so you can dictate the engagement and maintain optimal distance at all times.
One advantage the Corsair has, and was not used in the third battle, is that the co-pilot can lock missiles in a 360 degree arc. He could have been launching missiles straight after the merge and after every subsequent merge while the Connie was still trying to bring its nose around.
Great video. Both players handled those large ships very well. I'm a little confused, though. I see that the Corsair is rocking 4x size 5's and 2x size 4's, which means all the guns are on fixed mounts. How then is the gimbal mode in the gunsight active?
Very nice video, the difference in firepower becomes even more striking between the two when they are manned, not to mention that with appropriate builds the Corsair is the ship with the greatest firepower in the pilot's hands in the entire game, totally unbeatable in the category. But for some reason I like andromeda much more.
I love both, but I found the Connie to be the ship with greater Survivability with the Corsair even after the mav thruster health increase I found that they'd still go often enough to cripple my ability to fight back effectively and even worse if losing an engine. Then ontop of that trying to fight anything in atmo is a nightmare. With a Rework to the interior the constellation will be a lovely ship.
Love the shear visual spectacle of big ship brawls compared to light fighter dogfights, the amount of laser fire alone coming from both ships was amazing! 14:00 was a great shot with the flares and missiles flying around.
@Leach-ez7dq are you sure? Becuase projectile speed matters, the Ion would land shots that the Inferno couldn't if the Ion controlled the distance and kept moving. If they're stood toe to toe trading blows then sure, but then that doesn't represent the average dog fight
Where did this myth come from about the Corsair being bad in atmo? It still outperforms the Connie at sea level on paper and in real combat. I have timed the turns and loops etc myself in multiple tests. I can only assume comes from the initial flawed release version but that was fixed quite quickly.
I dont think the sacrifice to projectile velocity and going fixed is worth the trade off on ships like the connie and corsair. Too slow and burly for that.
Good fight between you two. Very glad Connie managed to pull off an upset at the end as I'm rather fond of the old girl. Corsair has the benefit of more guns and "gold standard" design. Connie is far behind the times thanks to CIG's terrible sense of priorities, and the Andromeda is unsuitably armed for its class. However, as of 3.19.1, Corsair's thrusters were severely vulnerable to S1 missiles that could bypass shields (even at full strength) and wreck the ship's stability sending it into a tailspin, and all it took was one hit. Not sure if that problem persists in 3.20.
