UPDATE: my sizing now includes XXS-3XL. I am also now grading the height by 5mm - every size is 5mm longer. I also now name ALL my seams and notches to make it more beginner friendly.
This is a great video. I’m about to embark on my own pattern business but only ever taught manual / pen to paper. Another way I have seen is to divide grade lines using the pathfinder / divide tool and moving those in increments set on the keypad. Both yours and the divide seem to work well and I’ll be trying both. Not a lot out there on the subject of digitising sewing patterns, so thank you !
I haven’t even watched the video yet but wanted to say thank you so much! I’ve been waiting for this video so bad since the how to digitalize patterns video and I’m so excited to see this one!
Such a great video! Thank you so much for sharing this method, you just saved me loads of time! And yes, I for one would love to see how you grade pants! :)
This was very helpful and informative. Would love to see how you grade sleeves and cups (more details). Also, I love your music selection, and plan to visit Anja's channel. Thanks much
Oh my god. I was looking for this information for 1 years know and feeling so stupid because it´s actually so logical :D Thank you very much! Great video!!
Thank you so much for this video, this is extremely helpful ! I would love to see how you grade pants next ! 😊 once again, thank you, I’m learning so much with your video
Thank youuuu I have been waiting for this video :D!!!! I clicked so fast ahah Yes please can we see you grading pants or more specifically mens jeans? Do you think it is necessary to make a toile of all sizes if I want to sell the patterns or even produce garments in all those sizes?
I haven't checked it right now but I would think grading works in men and women's pants the same way. And no, you don't need to make a mock-up for all your sizes 🥰
Thank you so much- this is great! :) I've been struggling with grading, doing it really complicated for myself 🤔 Yes I would love to see how you grade pants and sleeves and so on. I also have a question about the length. In which cases do you also grade up in length?
Hi 😊 how do you create those joints at the corners of the pattern, so that you can select or unselect them and then they don't move along with everything else?
Hi Kachi! This video is amazing thanks to you I started to learn how to grade! I have a question for you if you can help me 😊 I graded the basic block bodice, but I have doubts regarding how to grade the upper part of the sleeve to put together with the bodice! Should I do it with the same method you are using with the cups in this video? Meaning that I measure in the bodice how much the sleeve opening increase between sizes, and then put this same measurements in increasing the upper part of the sleeve? Thanks so much 🥰
I’ve found that I can create a dotted line for a particular size, apply it to the pattern piece + hit Shape at the top toolbar. Create new Shape, then name the shape that size. Then you can recall that preset shape without having to remember what type of dotted line you picked for each size.
Thank you for sharing your grading technique using Adobe Illustrator. I just have a question about the armhole...as you grade-up vertically upwards, will it not make the arm "hole" smaller?
hey I have a question! love your videos it helps me a lot with my pattern making but when I select only on side of the patten and want to add 2mm on one side the whole pattern piece moves unfortunately:( how can I can I only make the one side bigge and lock the other half of the pattern piece? xx
Tks for this video !!! She save me !!! But I have a problem with my grading on illustrator... When I draw my pattern, i have anchor points too much than points to grade... so when I grading with your method, my curve are not good, because the new curve for my new size stop to the last anchor point and not to the grading point... I use simplify for reduce my anchor points, but it's not enought. You have a solution =( ? (Sorry for my english, i'm french !!!)
Hi :) Thank you so much for this video. Its really helped me to grade up my bodice pattern. I'm just wondering if you could enlighten me on how to add the different colours to the different sizes. I have my layers showing as different colours, but when I set it to preview print all the layers are black. I'm sure I'm just being a little dim so sorry if I am! Thank you a ton again, this video is so helpful.
Thank you so much, I tried it and it has been really helpful but I'm struggling to add another layer because everytime I tried copy paste it won't stay in the same spot with my original pattern size, Its always in a different spot.. I probably doing it wrong.

How do you add seam allowance to the graded pattern?
would you reccommend grading vertically as well? and if so what's a standard amount to increase as you enlarge your pattern
So helpful! Please do the grading of the pants 😊
