The magic knot is done completely different...what you did was the surgeon's knot and it is actually way better than magic knot and will not ever come undone. Love your two sweaters!
If anyone hasn’t jumped on the Ranunculus train yet, this video ought to do it! Wow, I absolutely love both of your versions… especially this pretty blue/green colour. I held out for a while, and then knit two of them within two months. Great tutorial. I am a big fan of the magic knot.
Chiaogoo has a shortie, red lace circular set that that goes from size 9 to 11. The smallest length is 12”, but I find them perfect for sleeves, even for smaller adult sizes. I got mine from Amazon and I love them. They have a swivel cord, too. They have three different shortie sets that cover any size you could need. 🤗
Alright, you’ve convinced me to make one! I’ve always been thrown off by the featured photos but seeing how it fits on you and hearing about how quickly it works up has been inspiring.
I love the look of ranunculus when I see it out in the wild, but I can not STAND seeing that sad damp child that is the cover photo, they always put me off 😂
I love the one with the stoned redhead -- that one sold me. Japanese tsumugi silk, it turns out -- and it looks like it's been starched? I want one just like it.
Do funny we are making quite similar ranunculuses! Similar color, plant yarn. My yarn is a linen/cotton/bamboo blend that's basically like a bunch of little threads. I've been using a braided join and it's working great. I saw it on Mel Makes Stuff's video about joining plant yarns. You basically split your new yarn into 2 then braid that with the old yarn just like you'd braid hair. I leave the ends about an inch long on each end and they can just hang loose inside, I am not weaving them in.
Just found you! The ranunculous was my very first sweater back in 2020 and you’ve inspired me to give it another look. As you said, lightening fast to knit and so so beautiful!
Hi Kaci ! Watching you all the way across the globe in Queensland Australia 🇦🇺! Love your ranuculus, it seems everyone is knitting this lovely pattern ! 4 hours to knit that much of the pattern WOW. I do love your green version❤ Have a lovely weekend 😊
As someone else has mentioned ChiaoGoo has a Shortie set size US 9-11. I just purchased them and what a great way to do the larger gauge sleeves! I finished a Felix with them and they worked great!
Years ago I knit a ranunculus with a single ply merino/mohair blend fingering weight yarn. The armpits shrunk like crazy and it never really knit the arms or body long enough, so it became a feral cat house comforter one winter. I think I just might knit this again in worsted weight! ❤❤❤❤
I was at a new-to-me LYS this past week (Ewe and Me) and I saw a Chia Goo shorties set for sizes 9-13. That might be a way to get your 9-inch circulars in a larger needle size!
US size 10 is 6mm and in the yellow Chiagoo set. It contains US 9, 10, 10.5 and 11. Brilliant for Love Note and Ranunculus sweaters and any other that need that size.
Very timely! I finally decided to join the crowd and knit a Ranunculus...cast on last night, finished me rib and short rows...then saw this! Perfect!❤ thanks so much!
I love the Ranunculus pattern. I have a short sleeved version in a cotton linen blend for summer and a long-sleeved version which I knit with unspun Nutiden held double - that one is like a light fluffy cloud! I love the color of your new version.
Great video. Thanks for your modifications. I just finished my first ranunculus. I knit it holding 2 strands of woolyknit cotton in fingering weight in two shades of pink. My next one will be a winter one with long sleeves, a wider neck and knit with aran weight.
Thanks so much for talking about this pattern! I’m not super active in the knitting community and didn’t understand the hype based on that main pattern photo. I’m all for great fitting and a speedy project and will definitely give it a try sooner rather than later.
Love so love your Ranunculus! I have not made one but it’s in my queue now. I am having a hard time to keep from casting on right now. Thanks so much for the exceptional tips. 🧶❣️
I’ve been watching videos regarding this particular pattern, and I am noticing that some of the completed versions of the ranunculus have some imperfections, specifically with the roses. I believe that your completed work looks perfect! ❤
We are sweater twinning again! As I'm watching, I'm wearing my Ranunculus in a linen/silk blend from Akara Yarns in a grey with bits of rust and darker grey- I wore it today in 30 degrees C and it's so airy and comfy. I have yarn sitting waiting for Ranunculus #2. Your sweaters are gorgeous, I now want to make a worsted weight one.
I love the ranunculus pattern and have knit it several times! I really enjoy all of your podcasts, it would be greatly appreciated when you are referring to needle size to also include the metric size. Many thanks
Kaci, I make my ranunculus from first pattern. I used a yarn similar to yours on the last one and i can wear it in the Missouri summer. I always adjust my needle sizes instead of doing less or more stitches and it has always worked out.( Angel on my shoulder?:) I do this method for shaping , too. I make 3/4 sleeve because I don't want to look at all that that entails. I am OLD. Your color is so very pretty. I have made from mohair and wool blends , also. It is looking very elegant. Will look great over casual , too. So versatile.
Chiagoo makes a us 10 shortie but I believe you have to buy the large shortie set to get it - the set comes in US sizes 9 thru 13. The smaller shortie sizes - you are able to buy them individually. The large sizes came out fairly recently- maybe Chiagoo plans on releasing them for individual sale?
I’ve just swatched for my next Ranunculus after my failure to swatch mishap earlier this month 😅. I’m so excited to have a summer version and now that I’ve seen that blue, I might have to make another at some point this summer!
Your magic knot tip could not have come at a better time! I joined some new yarn on my 100% cotton project and hated how it looked. I tinked back and am going to do the magic knot instead. 😊 Have you knit any of the Anker patterns by Petite Knit? That’s also a circular yoke with raglan increases and the fit is great.
I agree…that cover photo should be changed. I’m surprised anyone knit it looking at it. But it is a great and versatile pattern and I love both of yours
I'm making my first Ranunculus. It happens to be the same color you're using. I've noticed the sleeves are very narrow, so I knitted 3 rows passed the divide and added increases to the raglan on the sleeve side only.
How much positivs ease do you have on the blue/green top. I love the fit on you and am having a hard time deciding which size to knit. New knitter here!
Your videos are wonderful!! wondering if I eliminate the short rows in the front of the Ranunculus - do I still need to knit rows 11 - 17 or just skip them altogether?
I think, If my memory isn't completely off.. Knitpick has the needles you are looking for. I seem to recall that was where I got mine from. But mine are square and wood.
You have 5o go to 12" circulars needles for size 10 needles, sadly. I'd love it if they expanded their 9" circulars needle sizes.I don't trust the magic knot. I just try to have the yarn change happen on the back or sides. And I knit the 2 strands together for one stitch, but others knit for a few stitches. That helps to secure in place.
When I join yarn, I just square knot it 😂 Sometimes I go back and take the knot out and weave in the ends, sometimes just weave in the ends, and sometimes I just leave it 😅
I was wondering why a lot of Ranunculus were being shown on YT. Why not use 15 row edging that u did w sleeves on bottom to match sleeves? Also, why not join new yarn together with old yarn a few stitches before old yarn ends? Does plant base yarns really show the double strand join? Thanks for sharing.
I find with plant based yarn if it’s an open weave fabric they do show a lot. If it’s a tighter fabric then it’s not so bad. The knot takes care of it for me!
What type of increase do you use when you go from the collar to the yoke? Which kind do you feel is the most invisible? I’m a newer garment knitter and I adjusted one recently and I felt like it was obvious in the front. Thanks for this video! I plan to make this pattern pretty soon.
your new ranunculus color is beautiful! Like you, I used to use the magic knot method for cellulose fibers but I've had it fail me a couple of times. It was probably me, but I can't bear that happening again so I've been using the Weavin Steven method that Steven West uses. Actually, I use the Crazy Sock Lady's version of his method because she separates the ends on 2 rows and you never see it. That's my go-to method for weaving in all of my ends now. ruclips.net/video/DOZuXzCvsO0/видео.html
i love the weavin Steven method. i too tried the magic knot once.. and i too had it fail. so never to use that again. i put too much work into a project to have it fail later but everyone has their own way. i follow both Steven West and Crazy Sock Lady.
The magic knot is done completely different...what you did was the surgeon's knot and it is actually way better than magic knot and will not ever come undone. Love your two sweaters!

Yours are gorgeous!
I'm definitely curious now 🤔

@@YoungfolkKnits they are the yellow case!!!
I was going to say the same thing!!❤
I came here to say this too 😆
Alright, you’ve convinced me to make one! I’ve always been thrown off by the featured photos but seeing how it fits on you and hearing about how quickly it works up has been inspiring.
I think you will like it!
I love the look of ranunculus when I see it out in the wild, but I can not STAND seeing that sad damp child that is the cover photo, they always put me off 😂
I am glad she has added lots of different peoples project pics to the pattern page on Ravelry!
😂 lol yesss
I love the one with the stoned redhead -- that one sold me. Japanese tsumugi silk, it turns out -- and it looks like it's been starched? I want one just like it.
Thank you for sharing your tips on making this top. Both of your Ranunculus tops are beautiful!
😂😂😂

I would call that a “square knot”. Beautiful sweater!
It is haha 😂

I absolutely love your chatty podcast, and your Ranunculus. I have yet to finish my first one, and watching you encourages me to finish it. Thankyou

Kaci I’ve searched for the 16” needles and your right, you can’t get them in the bigger size. Thanks very much for the knot lesson…..much appreciated
Thank you so much for that description of your renunculous. It was very very helpful.
Yay! Thank you for watching!
Thank you for this episode. This made me inspired to cast on my first very own ranunculus 🙌
Thank you Kaci, best video I have seen for doing the magic knot.
That blue greeny grayish color is gorgeous ❤
You’ve talked me into knitting a ranunculus! I can even use up more stash! 😊
As someone else has mentioned ChiaoGoo has a Shortie set size US 9-11. I just purchased them and what a great way to do the larger gauge sleeves! I finished a Felix with them and they worked great!

You should!!!! You have the most amazing shoulders for this pattern! Especially if you did the wider neckline 🤔
I was at a new-to-me LYS this past week (Ewe and Me) and I saw a Chia Goo shorties set for sizes 9-13. That might be a way to get your 9-inch circulars in a larger needle size!

Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the magic knot tutorial!❤😍
Thanks Kaci! I love the look of the Ranunculus but the high round neck has always put me off. Your lovely green version has got me thinking...😊
Yea! I like the higher stitch count to cast on right off the bat!
Really beautiful! You look absolutely amazing in that top. I'm definitely going to try that pattern. Thanks!

I try to remember to do that and mostly fail! Thanks for the reminder!
Chiao Goo has a size 10 in I think in a 10 or 12" (shorties) that work beautifully!
Thank you for sharing this will be on my list a great stash buster I do have some lace weight yarn I can use up😊. Until next week

It’s so good!
Love the ranunculus!!!
Me too!

That’s awesome!!!
I agree…that cover photo should be changed. I’m surprised anyone knit it looking at it. But it is a great and versatile pattern and I love both of yours
Thank you!
Kaci, I am a two needle knitter for small circumference. Just very short cords.
That’s a good idea!
I still have not made a Ranunculus- on my list. Maybe this summer,……
I'm making my first Ranunculus. It happens to be the same color you're using. I've noticed the sleeves are very narrow, so I knitted 3 rows passed the divide and added increases to the raglan on the sleeve side only.

I love the fit of the ranunculus you’re wearing. How much ease does your’s have? Just got the yarn for mine and can’t wait to cast on!
I would say I have about 2 inches
I only use knots in plant based fiber tops. I still weave in the ends because I am weird like that and would rather have a slightly bulky spot. haha
I understand!
Your videos are wonderful!! wondering if I eliminate the short rows in the front of the Ranunculus - do I still need to knit rows 11 - 17 or just skip them altogether?

I think it's Ritual Dyes Undine in color Slate.

I use the right lifted increase in this pattern! And I think it works well!

Awesome!!!
I only see them going up to size 8
I'm sorry. I think mine are in my interchangeable set.
Ok I’m going to keep looking and maybe I’ll find it!
Thank you .. what is the green yarn you did the second Rununculous in?
It is ritual dyes undine
How difficult is this? I’ve made a vanilla sweater so I’m an advanced beginner.
Hi Kaci, I’m going to be knitting a ranunculus. What is the yarn you used for the second one? And which one did you prefer?
I used ritual dyes undine and I held it double. It’s definitely a heavier garment but I love the drape and plant fibers
I already made 18 ranunculus and I am not finished.... lol....
What??????!!!!!! Wow!
❤
I bought the pattern but unfortunately I don’t understand the pattern 😢
Is the magic knot just a regular square knot.
I'm wondering this same thing! It looks like it?
Magic loop, magic loop, magic loop.
I wish I could love it 😅 I’ll do it but I don’t love it

Part of the set? I need to get some
@@YoungfolkKnits yes. They now have three shorties sets, red, blue, and yellow.
