Great projects. Love them! I’ve heard so many podcasters mention they were unsure about the videos of everything they knit due to being afraid they’re repetitive but really, they are excellent in case people are new or missed something. I often use it as a reference to go back to hear more on an older episode. Hope that helps and thank you for the time. Happy New Year! - Kimberly
My favorite video of the year from my favorite RUclipsr :) I got myself some tea and some mindless knitting, this is going to be a good night. Thank you for this video Marlene.
You have a lovely collection of knits. The light grey sweater (Storm") is lovely. I agree the grey is a bit blah. A nice sage green over dye might be nice. I've saved a few of these in my favs to consider for my projects this year.
Loved to see your year knits!!! Thank you so much for another year of sharing your knits and time with us. I hope 2025 is finally the year that I overcome my fear to knit patterns in another language and finally enjoy some of the patterns and reccomendations you share (Also have to mention that your hair looks amazing in this video)
I really enjoyed this video! I've been watching your channel since about the time that you posted last year's everything you knit video, and it was lovely to be able to see all that time kind of summed up here and see how your style has shifted and developed!
thank you so much ☺️ I’m really happy to hear this and have so enjoyed filming it and finding out all these things about my preference in yarns and patterns and style too! :)
You've made so many lovely projects last year, I can't wait to see all the things you'll make this year! Maybe a Cumulus blouse mohair tip, I knitted one this year in the DeRerumNatura Berenice, that is super duper soft!!!! It's mohair with merino in it, so it's like a dream!

Happy New Year, Marlene! I enjoyed seeing all your knits from this past year and am looking forward to hearing about your plans for 2025!
Beautiful knits Marlene! I love your grey Storm Sweater ❤ I have one light grey sweater that I don’t wear in autumn but now its starting to call my name again :)
I'm so happy you did make this video! So interesting! I would love to hear all about, of all your knits, which are the ones you gravitate to the most! HNY!
It is always a trade off between softness and the amount of pilling. Long ago I learned that for me a more middle of the road yarn translates to less maintenance and that works best for me most of the time.
I'm really curious how you will style your skirt. I find it a bit challenging since I'm not always so convinced about the combination of a knit skirt and a knit top/sweater but a skirt is also on my list of cast ons soon.
I knit the Alaska hat after you recommended it and it's one of my favorites and I knit A LOT of hats! Also, I feel the same way with the pilling. I'd rather opt for a scratchier wool than deal with excessive pilling. I have found that peruvian highland wool (specifically Knit Picks Wool of the Andes) is especially less pilly than other yarns.
oh I‘m so glad!! ☺️ yeah, or knit a strand of lace alpaca or mohair with the wool yarn, that also helps against pilling in my opinion! knit picks isn’t super readily available to me but probably a good option for americans who can’t get their hands on the scandi brands peruvian highland wools like filcolana or so! 😊
@@marleneknits Oh yes, I should have said I'm in the USA. I have heard the Knit Picks yarn is very similar to Filcolana, which is harder for me to get, you are right! Happy Knitting!
Such a pity that you don’t enjoy the cumulus blouse the way you had planned. I remember when you made this it was the first time I thought I might make myself a cumulus blouse - the colour is just stunning ❤
you know what? I’ve actually made a real effort to wear all the knits I wasn’t sure about (how much I loved them or how to wear them) since filming this video and it totally helped appreciating them so much more again! ❤ thank you 😊
@@dianatoderic273 you have to make a gauge swatch and adjust the pattern to your gauge - which would mean to cast on more sts on a smaller needle that’s suits your yarn better (46 sts in 2,5mm needles and 28sts per 10 cm gauge swatch in my case) and then obviously adjust the amount of thumb sts by the right percentage you know?
@ I’ve never done it before so not sure how. Do you mean the gauge has to be 46 sts with 2.5mm needle if that’s what’s required with the yarn in using? Would I add more stitches to the thumb is that what you mean?
@ no, my gauge was around 27-29 sts as far as I remember - you calculate your cast on from your individual gauge - sorry it if I can’t explain it in more details
She was talking about the „Peer Gynt“ from SandnesGarn, it is quite rustic but if you can handle that the garments made with it really are beautiful and longwearing!
hi! yes the Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt - generally most rustic woolly wools make very long lasting garments but I’ve also found this one to be very affordable and not too scratchy for myself at the same time! I’ve actually just found this information about the yarn on the sandnes garn website for example: “Peer Gynt has been on the market ever since 1938, and the structure of the yarn makes it a favorite for knitting traditional kofte sweaters. Peer Gynt remains as popular a yarn today as it was then. Garments made of Norwegian wool are light, warm and grow softer every time you wear them. Norwegian wool is durable and pill-resistant, and its superior resilience ensures that garments keep their shape over time. Be kind to the environment! Wool is breathable and rarely needs washing. Instead, we recommend airing your wool garments. Garments made of Norwegian wool have a long lifespan and can remain just as beautiful for several generations. As a result, Norwegian wool can contribute to more sustainable consumption.”
@@marleneknits Thank you VERY much. So helpful. Does the shop you work in sell this yarn, and if so do you ship to the United States? If yes, to both what is the name of your shop?
I think your doppio sweater is so pretty on you! The color is just perfect for you. I was thinking that if you really do want to gift the storm sweater (?) to your boyfriend I wonder if you could add a band of navy or black at the bottom since you don't have any of the gray left. Thank you so much for the yarn reviews. I've never been able to afford peer gynt, but it sounds like it is worth the cost since it doesn't pill and it holds up so well. I wanted to buy peer gynt for Kaci's (YoungFolk Knits) new KAL starting this month, but I couldn't afford it. Instead I'm just going to use plymouth superwash worsted. Maybe next time! ❤🧶
The petite knitter's patterns all have the same problem with rapid increases and overall poor fit, I tried a couple of her patterns and ended up redoing all the math and just using the colourwork scheme, which is not something you expect when you buy a pattern for 13 dollars. So I even published my version of increases in one of my ravelry projects in case everyone wanted to use it
A great podcast and array of finished objects. That’s too bad on the Yak socks but I really have to wonder if the yarn company is truthful about the need to go down a needle size. I agree, it should be on the label which is what makes it seem like just an excuse. It’s too bad after putting the time in knitting the socks. Still fine to wear though. Hope you had a great New Years.
Not to be critical, I do understand what your are trying to say, mostly, but a tun is not an increment of time and dose not really say how long you have actually worked on a particular project. A good time frame of a week or a month or 10 hours is more meaningful if someone else is wanting to knit up the same project and wondering how much time investment the project will need to have.
you know what I really like to do if I’m wondering how long a project might take? I go to ravelry and have a look at other people’s projects and see how long they generally took to finish the item ☺️ I find that very helpful!
Your hair is looking top notch gorgeous 💁♀️
