This is cool honestly I always wondered why this wasn't in the game yet, it adds a lot of diversity in strategy
It used to be. Its a gimmick because its not even close to real life. Its a pain. Drivers mocked it during lockdown when they were playing the f1 games because they dont change modes like that

You can also draft behind someone, lift just slightly off the throttle and it will recharge the battery pretty quickly while they pull you along.
Are you lifting to 0 throttle or lifting to like 50٪ throttle?
@@ZKN99 nope, just lifting a little seems to disengage the ers and lets it start charging..

Thanks a lot for this. New to the game and was trying to wrap my head around how to actually use the different modes, since the game doesn't explain anything at all, really. Understanding the speed cap on Medium ERS especially explains a lot why I was getting destroyed down some straights during a race. That was baffling me. Super useful info, as it really seems ERS is critical in this game. And boy does it add quite a layer of complication to the driving! Will take some getting used to where I can stop having to actively think about it so much.

Basically Lower pressures = higher tyre temps and wear
Higher pressures = Lower tyre temps and wear
Im sure lower tyre pressure is less temps but less straight line speed?
@@deklancrowe2730 lower pressure means higher Temps due to physical laws. If you have lower pressure in the tyres, the air has to much space to expand. The tyre is Not completly filled and need to work more to keep the car where it should be. And you have a lot more contact with the track, which is causing even more temp.Thats raising the temp. Its hard for me to explain in English, but from am physics pov its right. If you want a better explanaition you should google it✌️

At least codies actually put work into the new ers, when the trailer originally came out I thought all they did was unlock the ers modes, but cool to see the differences between hotlap and medium especially

For the race, will engine braking cause wear on the engine, meaning it will make more sense to have low engine braking for career mode? I assume for Sim Racing you'll all put it to the max, but for career will it be better to lower it?

If you have a good set up. I tend to turn it to none during curves and overtake on straights depending on how far away or behind I am from the car in front of me.

So mguk is energy under braking capped at 2MJ per lap, MGUH is coverting hot air back into energy which is uncapped but their is a maximum deployment i think of 4-7MJ per lap which is what is shown by that green bar

I think in the race scenarios i only use medium and overtake when im pushing and when i need to save i put it on none a little before the end of the straight and then back on medium before the exit. I only use hotlap during qualifying

You lowered the tire pressure to prevent your tires from overheating so much
In the description of the tire pressure, however, it says that higher tire pressures would mean lower temperatures.
Can you explain that?

Do you always run 100% engine bracking in the setup, or do you want it to be as low as possible and then balance it out with wing levels so you still achieve max ers gain through the lap with the red bar, or is the engine bracking always at 100%?
I think balance it out cus it also effects oversteer during braking. I like 30% at a lot of track

Do you think on tracks like spa if you use none at all for most of the lap and drain it on the back straight will the times even up as oppose to balancing it between medium and hotlap?

ERS this year just feels broken.
Other cars just fly past me even with ers on overtake and drs open.
There's no point using anything other than hotlap and overtake.
And how in the world am I recharging while on hotlap settings. I'm doing like 30% recharge in two corners...
How are you handing Austria. Are there situations where it is beneficial.to cycle between overtake and medium rather than using hot lap at all?

Hi Jarno, Great video. I do have a question about using ERS during a race. I use to keep ERS Mode on Medium during the race and playing with Overtake to use ERS during a lap, but ik looks like I am getting slower than the competion towards the end of a race. I heard you mentioning using Hotlap and Overtake during a race. Is that correct? And is there a rule of thumb for using ERS during a whole race? Thanks @jarnoopmeer
I don’t know if I missed it.. but what about the race? Surely you use the overtake button.. but on what mode do I have to use ers? None Medium or hot lap?

What about during the race? Overtake out of exits is still a valid strategy and then maybe medium in the corners? Or is there a more optimal way?
does the car use ers in time trial even tho you cant deploy it there, just curious because i did a time trial lap 2 seconds better than the one you did without ers and im 100x worse than you even while you are not concentrating

This will probably be a great video… once I figure out how to actually, physically, mechanically deploy the ers. Can anyone help? I’ve tried all the modes, with toggle and hold, but when I press my overtake button, nothing happens. I haven’t managed to deplete the battery at all. I even reassigned the button just in case, but no. At this point era strategy is pointless because I can’t even activate it.

this is the type of shit i hate in the new F1s and why im never gonna be a full fan or like really go into f1 racing. it's more of a tactical game than a racing one at that point. like when to use how to use an electrical battery that's literally just nitrous in nfs games.. just weird and unintuitive. already got a billion things on my mind like not spinning the car on every exit

Quite sure the mgu H recovers ers to the battery depending on what mode it is in.
