Gundams tend to be extremely high end and extremely capable but their pilots are all over-- Ramba Ral used the Gouf, an otherwise inferior machine to beat Amuro to a pulp, while Burnie in War in the Pocket was able to at least disable a Gundam with a simple Zaku II-- the Kai version, mind you, but still.

When Lowe first activates the Red Frame in the manga, we see the G.U.N.D.A.M. OS pop up just like with every other official Gundam in the SEED universe, so they count as Gundams as far as I'm concerned.
@@TheAdorkableRJ Ok makes sense, most of my information is from secondary sources. I've never read the manga the anime was too cringy for me so I always wrote seed off after the first watch. It does have some cool Zeon redesigns though.
+Night Flyer The Unicorn Gundam is awesome. I've always liked how unique it looks in Unicorn mode with the horn and almost entirely white body and when the armor all over the body splits open to reveal the glowing Psychoframe, extra thrusters, Beam Sabers, etc. underneath, I never cease to be impressed with the way they designed it. And after seeing episode 7 and all the feats Unicorn can perform when its in that fully awakened green Psychoframe state, I would definitely put it on my list of favorite Gundams nowadays.
+Night Flyer I've played every Dynasty Warriors Gundam game that's come out so far and I still like to play Federation vs Zeon or Gundam vs Zeta Gundam on ps2 every now and then. Sometimes I also like to play Gundam SEED: Never Ending Tomorrow, which isn't a terrific game overall, but it's fun to have so many playable SEED MSV and Astray mobile suits in it.
Victory Gundam had some really nice designs, yet i hate that show with a passion. It´s the full "never write a story when suffering from severe depression" thing that made me hate Neon Genesis Evangelion all those years ago. Seriously, how can one name a curved sword "Gerbera STRAIGHT"? But i understand you choice, the suit looks awesome.
TheAdorkableRJ the astrays are prototype mobile suits made by the Orb Union for the basis of their mass produced M1 astray. Acording to gundam seed's rule of what makes a gundam a gundam; it has to have phase shift armor and the G.U.N.D.A.M. operating system, which none of the astrays have, therefore making them NOT GUNDAMS. But they're still pretty cool.

Even if they technically didn't count as Gundams by the standards set by the SEED universe, it's rules of what makes a Gundam a Gundam aren't the only rules that matter in a list about Gundams from all across the franchise. The Astrays have two eyes, that pointy chin thing, a V-fin, have ''Gundam'' included in their names on their model kit box art, the wiki, etc. and, with or without Phase Shift or the G.U.N.D.A.M. OS, are still special prototypes that stand out compared most other MSs of their time. They're totally Gundams as far as I'm concerned.

By the way, in a zeta gundam side story the Titans made prototype suits called the gundam hazels. They're actually GM Quells with gundam heads. The reason why they have gundam heads is for psychological warfare. 😎
