  • Here it is: the full RGH 1.2 tutorial! RGH 1.2 was created by 15432 and has been designed to be built as an RGH 2 image but have the reliability and speed of an RGH 1 console. As of recently this has been the most commonly recommended method of modifying an original/phat Xbox 360 console. After doing several installs of it myself, we now have a full tutorial for it!

    I just finished RGHing my Jasper box. Thanks to your in-depth and easy to follow guide, everything went surprisingly well. Took me a while to get the cables on the underside of the board to work well, and while it doesn't instaboot, it works and I'm really happy right now.

    If the J Programmer is not being detected. Make sure to use a working Mini USB data and power cable along with disabling driver signature enforcement on Windows 10 and 11. And then go into Device Manager find the JProgrammer device and install the driver from where you installed JRunner in the common/driver folder.

      Those are the standard NAND reading/writing cables you get with a programmer. What I did years ago was cut off the connectors that go to the console itself, solder the wire ends to sewing needs, and used heat-shrink tubing to secure them.

    I strongly recommend that everyone forget about the orange wire CLK STBY soldering point, and instead solder a longer wire to FT2R2 on the back of the board. 100X easier and safer.
    (Soldering when fine, but my heat shroud bent my orange wire and lifted the pad used for CLK STBY, I had to run another wire between the resistor and FT2R2 to save the board)

    i actually had someone RGH mine for me, and it worked well! Well, for the first year, at least. After 2016, it started taking longer and longer to boot, up until the point i had to wait hours for it to boot, not mentioning times it didn't even boot in the first place.
    BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!
    After mid 2017, it started to boot, but hang at the logo, up to sometimes having to shut it down, and back on 3 to 6 times before actually going to the dash. So, judging by what you said, the dude that installed the RGH was very lazy with cables. (also, some games crash on load, some crash after a certain amount of progress, fakelive was not installed correctly, and Xell is not installed.)

    • @realtuber6522
      @realtuber6522 6 лет назад +1

      If it is a falcon or older it can be just a simple RROD, because when RGH is installed the SMC resets infinite times until it boots without ever displaying the red lights and it could be that your gpu is slowly failing.

    Failed a second attempt today but noticed significant improvement. This guide has really helped me. I noticed using a much smaller iron tip was easier to hit these points with but I messed up the alternative clk point and fried it and then had to do the hard point which I hate. Console wouldn’t boot or even power on. Might of been a broken trace or something but hopefully third time lucky soon. Also kingbo flux is really good to use for this but the smell is horrible.

    well I failed, JR Programmer lit up and i managed to get it to read the nand and stuff, then moved onto installing coolrunner, the light of it lit up too when i plugged the power cable in, jr programmer did too, but then just turned off and didnt wanna turn on again. Was thinking it was bad soldering for the jr programmer wires and resoldered them, but still nothing. Tried to turn on my xbox and it refuses to turn on now. Well it was a nice experiment to try to add more use for my xbox 360, but i still need more work on my soldering skills. the small points like R4B24 are just really hard and i think thats what ruined me, goodluck to anyone else who tries this.

    Is there any advice on what to do because the initial problem is -
    I need to pick up from when Mr.Mario reads the CPU key but since closed the session due to my computer turning off im stuck and it won't read the CPU key or anything. I dont know what to do.

    what i used to do with nand wires was wire them into a choc bloc connector, this would stay in the system then if i needed to go back in the nand i just wired my nandx plug into the choc bloc and it was good to go.
    for your own system or a one off you could get rid of them, but when doing glitches for other people i advise leaving them soldered in, since people cant help pratting about with stuff, or running game updates off disk etc, and there is only so many times you can solder those points.

    welp, i've borked my second jasper from doing the rgh lmao.
    pretty far in too, i've booted into Xell but i was having inconsistent bootup times and changing the timings on my coolrunner didn't seem to help. It was when i was reworking my wires that i've knocked off one of the resistors near the PLL point and then my xbox gave 3 lights :/
    still a great tutorial tho, although pretty dated and took me a WHILE to get the rgh12.rar file (the se7ensins thread has a bunch of dead google drive links) to then realize that j-runner with extras already comes with a nifty button for all the timing files!
    not sure if you're still reading comments from a 5 year old video, but you should really consider updating the tutorial. Stuff like different text on newer versions of j-runner confused me, and bigger points for the CLK on the back of the board would've been SUPER useful when i was making my first jasper rgh a year ago.
    Still, i guess it's also my fault for not practicing soldering beforehand, but fuck is it such a punch in the stomach when your xbox is borked so far in the modding lmao

      Still out here reading comments, yep! Can confirm this tutorial is dated and the RGH 1.2 option has been refined much more thanks to several awesome people. This video still works, but I do have an updated video I've been working on. Hoping to have it out sometime soon (no ETA), but it'll be more refined and have some real nice, tight shots.

      Not really recommended. Zephyr and Xeon boards are fairly unstable and not reliable with any types of RGH's. They worked best with JTAG, but it's almost impossible to find a JTAGable xbox 360 unless you really dig deep and are willing to spend a pretty penny.

    Hello friend, I'm your fan, I wanted help with a problem because I tried to do an RGH on the xbox 360 fat, I extracted the Nand, I recorded the ECC, but the xell did not go up, so I took the Nand that I extracted and recorded it without CPUKey and etc., it turns on normally, but if you put the drive it just blinks and the same thing for the HD so I wanted to know if there is a way to reverse this process? Note this procedure was done on J-Runner + CoolRunner.

    My system sometimes goes into RRoD when trying to boot in order to run XeLL (and get my CPU key), other times it boots XeLL normally, but even there, the system could just go RRoD all of the sudden (from the XeLL screen), shutting down the console and the power supply, when this happens I need to disconnect my system from power for like 20 min and it can boot again (otherwise the system gets locked in RRoD and I cannot make it boot anything). I could not finish the Hack process because I had problems with my JR-Programmer (stopped been recognized by my PC), so I got stuck at the "Write XeBuild Image to NAND" step and I don´t know if this behavior is caused just because the state of the system or there is an issue with my wires.

    • @MrMario2011
      @MrMario2011  6 лет назад

      I hold onto the wire with one hand and solder with the other, it should work fine assuming you've tinned the point you're soldering to on the motherboard. If it's that big of an issue you can help secure it on the board with some electrical tape.
