    I just finished doing an RGH 1.2 on a Falcon using this guide! I also want to add that because you did the wiring for the glitch chip out of order I got mixed up and soldered the wires incorrectly the first time, so if you ever do another tutorial like this one I would definitely recommend showing those in order haha. Otherwise a great guide! Thanks for the help!

    Great tutorial! I would add some precisions around 45:40 if you're using a Jr Programmer: the NAND dump did not work for me at all. I had to do these steps in this precise order:
    1. Close JRunner and disconnect the USB cable from your computer
    2. Make sure everything is connected as shown in the video, switches on the programmer in the right positions.
    3. Plug in the USB cable and wait 5 seconds
    4. Open JRunner and press Read NAND
    It worked on the first try using this sequence. With a JR Programmer, you cant keep JRunner open the whole time.

    • @MrMario2011
      @MrMario2011  Год назад +1

      I keep J-Runner running the entire time, more sounds like a J-R Programmer issue there. If you have one around, sure, but that's a good example as to why I don't recommend the older flashers anymore. xFlasher360 and PicoFlasher are fantastic.

Gave the case a good scrub (inside was pretty clean) and repasted the heatsinks. It runs great and will get a new lease of life! Boot times were slow until I bridged the CAP on the Coolrunner and now it's almost instant😄

    I have done two jasper rgh3 and both has been working fine for months. Boot time is a few seconds, not instant like on slims but otherwise perfecly fine once glitched. I wonder if the people that has issues with rgh3 on falcon and jasper are not using a 22K Ohm resistor and a 1N4148 Diode as recommended...

    • @MrMario2011
      @MrMario2011  Год назад +5

      That's the exact result I've had with my Falcon, it works fine for me but still isn't recommended as a solid solution due to the Phat RGH3 implementation being in beta and unstable. I believe I shared some information about it in this video, but I go into more detail in my upcoming RGH3 Phat video.

    Wouldn't it be simple to install pin headers in those holes? in case later on need to use them again also less hassle soldering wires then removing.

    • @MrMario2011
      @MrMario2011  Год назад

      Up to you, really. There's nothing wrong with installing a pinheader, but no one really does because it's pretty rare the average user has to reflash their NAND directly to the console like this after the modification has been done. Pinheaders were used for the original Xbox due to modchips cleanly being installed to and connecting to the LPC debug port, but that's not needed for the Xbox 360.

  • @Pandabaerchen88
    @Pandabaerchen88 Год назад

    Good installation. The best solution for Phat Xbox.
    But CPU RST is better to get from below. PLL it is best to solder the cable from the other side. If you don't have any disturbing components in the way. Xclamp for that has to go down there.
    Better get ground at the AV port. Also, one should keep 3.3v cables away from the others. Since this can lead to glitch problems. It is best to fix it with a bit of hot glue. Thanks for the video. And thanks for the video with the flashing of the drives :) I do that more often now

    • @MrMario2011
      @MrMario2011  Год назад +1

      We all have our own ways of doing it! CPU_RST alt point I used can actually be better and has been recommended for stubborn consoles in the past, but it can be harder to solder to due to it being so small.
      As for GND, a ground is a ground for the most part, I just have a preference for using the motherboard's ground.

      Reflash stock NAND, desolder 3v3 from the chip or board, see if it boots stock successfully.
      If so, resolder the chip, the RGH 1.2 timings should allow stock to boot. If there's an issue, it could be wiring. You could also try to rewrite ECC after this.

    I’ve been out of the scene for a long time, last I heard (years ago) when I was flashing my DVD drive the common wisdom was to never boot your 360 without a DVD drive connected as you’d get banned from Xbox Live. Any idea if that’s still the case as I booted my RGH a lot without the DVD to refine timings

    • @MrMario2011
      @MrMario2011  3 месяца назад

      I remember that clearly! So many years later I can confidently say that's not a factor to getting banned. If you check the SecData there is a value which counts how many times the console was booted without a DVD drive, but I've never ever ever ever seen a console banned solely for being turned on without a DVD drive.

      Make sure stock NAND is flashed over, desolder power from the CoolRunner and boot up the console. If it still boots stock NAND successfully, you would probably have to continue on with the top side CLK point which you can look up, it's near the ANA chip but it is harder to solder to.

Idk if it's just the cheap wires from the cool runner kit or what but that was giving me trouble and possibly scotch tape can bridge connections. Also my pll connection is in a glob of solder bridging with the black resistor on the bottom lol I have no idea how it's working. I've had way better solder joints to pll but none em were working so just keep at it! I respositions the wire to under the cooler brackets instead of the wrap around mr mario shows. Seems slightly easier bc there isn't a pad u can bridge with but having that wire next to the hot brackets could be risky.
