Hi gsrsilver, It's a standard aftermarket siren. It's no special type. Every parts retailer will have it in stock. Mine had 6 different sounds, of which I permanently locked the first button (thus, the standard alarm sound). As soon as the 12V siren is powered, it will start sounding. Not sure about the horn pin. My car already had the stock horn assembled under the wind shield. I just disconnected that one and fitted my aftermarket alarm. I did have to enable the lock sounds in Vagcom though.
Recoding the instruments to another region. It's very simple, using VAGcom. You need a VAG-cable and the program VAGcom. Go to module 17 (instruments), select recode and alter the third digit to change the region. All regions have their own property's. It was on EU first but I changed it to Canada. Most of the properties are the same, but the clock is now 12h instead of 24h and the doorchime is enabled.
@jojo11dd na dude if you do it the right way with the amp facing up the amp will only move as much as the car moves. Which is the same amount as if it was mounted to the car. I did it with my subs and they ran perfectly for two years and are still going.
Do you need to program the new cluster for the functions like air temp, miles to empty, ect to work? I've swapped my old no screen cluster into MFA bora sport one but it's not displaying any info.

@09acep I dunno, just a cable that works with vagcom! I think your polo has the same OBD-2 cable as mine... There are plenty on eBay. Normally the description lists for which cars the cable is suited.
@sacheus No not in The Netherlands, but in my case it rendered in a weird light beam (inconvenient for oncoming traffic) so I removed the xenon again and sold it

Gabriel Ribas Hi that's the auto-unlock feature. Can be enabled via Vagcom (don't know any specific code unfortunately but it's possible with Vagcom). If i'm correct, codes can be found within vagcom.

After i commented, i found a way to make my car stereo not turn off until i pull the key off. it was just one wire that i found behind the key hole, so i made it go directly to my stereo's red wire. it was very simple. But, i'm still looking how to find the auto-unlock feature you told me. btw, Vagcom = VCDS? i downloaded this software, i must only buy the cable not. Thanks for your answer! Peace!

Hi there, I actually swapped the actual VW alarm horn for an aftermarket standard alarm siren. So you'll have to do a little bit of hardware modification.

With Vagcom you can use Windows and a USB cable.
You can use vagcom for that and you need a cable. You can change the country code somewhere in vagcom and with some country codes the door chime is enabled

the stereo is wired up to the power wire which goes from the last turn, not the accessory wire, which works until you pull your key out.
