ironically.. clean air and peace and quiet are the ONLY things I like about being based in UK.. otherwise I would happily live in VN... the older I am getting I have to admit that those two things are becoming more n more important.. but cannot beat the food, cost of living, friendliness and social life of VN!!! Think am stick to my plan of just winters out there and stay based in UK the rest of the yr.. until they sort out the long term visas... if they ever do!
@@expatnam DaLat is better for weather.. there must be a nice town on the coast somewhere.. I could and would only do a yr in Saigon but then move outa there asap.. but still that long term visa, or lack of, is what prevents me from just upping sticks and moving there permanently! Until then gonna stick with my VN4m, UK8m per yr...
1 month 1 week to go before i am in Da Nang. Can't wait! I have yet to get my Visa. Still holding out for the 3 month option, but i may have to bite the bullet soon. Haha. Traffic will be the biggest eye opener for me, i think. Thanks for video.
Go to Vung-Tau just 2 hours on scooter ! You can breath much better there. I m surprised that people do not know Vung-Tau : the beach station of Saïgon.
Vung Tau has a great climate and it's fairly quiet apart from the weekends when you get 1000s of people piling in. I always thought Vung Tau was lacking in investment-it could be so good there with the close proximity to Saigon and the airport. I think that's slowly changing though from what i can see.
Great video! I wasn't sure if I should go to work in Cambodia or Vietnam first, because I want to teach in both, since I have already spent many years in Thailand and now want the experience of living and working in Cambodia and Vietnam as well. Cambodia has the 1 year looking for work visa and it is only $180. How are the surgeons in Vietnam, since I need to get a dental implant?
Another great video. Loves learning about VN thru your perspective. Question- if you were to meet the right person and get married-would you get credit for all the taxes and times you paid into the system? Hope I am not over reaching with the question. Cheers sir.
Good question! There's pros and cons to living here but i think meeting the right person would make it worthwhile. The best situation would be to spend half the year here, and half somewhere else perhaps.
@@expatnam That would be a bit of a challenge for you and or any one else who is working there full time. Hope VN would make it right for you and all the expats that is sharing your expertise with the country. Cheers.
Couldn't agree with you more about long term visas & residency. I don't get it. Retired ppl won't take work away from anyone & will contribute to the economy: rent, food, clothes, meds, & all the other expenses that go hand in hand with day to day living.
I think the government needs to do something different for people like you since you’re paying taxes there. I think the government is afraid of the Chinese neighbors taking advantages of the system since they somehow bought lots of properties in other parts of the country driving up prices and doing weird stuffs against the government.
Is that an ebike you're tooling around on? I am really interested in those; I watch johnnynerdout to get good info on anything to do with ebikes. That is a great way to get around!

Very true Mark! I think I'm on a quest to find as close to that as I can (fresh air, quiet...ish..) but still be in VN.

Dentists are pretty good here and very cheap. Shop around for the one with the best reputation though

Hey I haven't been back in 2 yrs and my barber in nam closed, what's the address for your guy and what's his name so I make sure I get him?
Thx mate 🍻
It's called 'Vu Tri Barbers' they have around 10 places throughout the city. The one in D3 is good imo.
Since you are staying for few years already, why not buying a motorbike there?
I used to own one but I sold it
Chances are good one gets soared on a regular basis, right?
Soared? 🤔
