What if the countertop is made out of granit? Drill into the granit and then use a fastener?

Why is it not recommended to not use 6" round piping when venting downwards?

I wish these were more powerful. 600 CFM just isn’t enough for a 6-burner range. They should make these commercial grade (900+ CFM) for the money they’re charging for these things

Does the cooktop overlap the stationary front edge of the vent when installed?

Where did you get the stainless trim that goes around the vent?

Can the blower be mounted remotely (like in the basement) so this unit can be located behind a regular stove?

My unit does not stay up. I have to hold the button to get it to come all the way up. Then it automatically retracts. Hence, the unit does not stay up. Do you know how this might be fixed or troubleshoot? Thanks.

Peter Frank most likely something is stuck, could be grease that ran down the track when you had the downdraft in the up position, now it’s stuck. Time to buy new one.

Peter, Were you able to fix the problem of vent automatically retracting? My Dacor downdraft hood is having the same problem, right after I "cleaned" it. Maybe I shouldn't have sprayed the control buttons with 409 when cleaning :(
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep the hood from retracting?
      Thank you.

One HUGE problem with this model is that once you remove the screens for cleaning you can NOT let it retract back down into the casing because... it will NOT come back up! We had this happen back when we first got it and it appears that we have the same problem again. I have notes saying "MUST open MANUALLY if the screens have been removed. I just can't find anywhere online that outlines HOW to manually raise this f'ing thing! Every search of this with the term "manual" tries to provide a "for a FEE online manual". Shesh!
