@@ivanfrangugic8355 Unfortunately I didn't have much time to try out more repertoire, but from my experience with Bechstein the repetition is of top quality
Great video - next time in Berlin I will check the store! Concert well yes, but it is quite a step from a price point of view. So, it would be Academy for me. Concert sounds like a Grand Piano but Academy is so good already, so clear and vibrant in upper tones, just this added brilliance, while warm and touching in the middle. The texture of the sound just gets me. Thanks for the great video!
Thanks so much for this comparison. There are very few such side by side performances on RUclips. The differences between the Academy and Residence are there but nothing compared to the Concert 8. However, the Concert is a much taller piano so will be able to elicit a far greater dynamic range with quieter playing than the others. But that aside, the clarity of Concert 8 is something to behold. No wonder it is considered by many to be the best upright in the world.
After a long day of work, I love to listen to your piano playing. Besides the fact that I admire Chopin, your playing is the most relaxing to me. And by the way, I think I like the "Concert one" the most. Thank you for sharing!
That’s such a lovely comment to read. Thanks a lot, I am happy you enjoy the playing. Have you heard the other performance videos too? Re the Concert model, you are right- it is quite special
I've listened to most of your performance videos and since I've seen you performing with "Symphoniacs" live back in 2017 I am a huge fan of your interpretations.
Great playing. I think they both sound great (in an amateur’s perspective the least). I think it all boils down to the skill, passion, and attitude of the pianist. You’re like the piano whisperer. :)God bless.
You are very sweet. I like that - "the piano whisperer" 😜Thanks a lot 🙏🏼You are right, as long as you can utilise the piano to the full extent, these pianos sound really beautiful 🎶
Evgeny you ask which instrument I like best - honestly, all three are wonderful, incredibly beautiful instruments in their own way, it just depends on the taste and the budget and honestly the absolutely best manufacturer of pianos and grand pianos offers a mega Portfolio ranging from the Zimmermann Line to the W. Hoffmann Line and then the Academy series to the Concert series - everything that makes the hearts of hobby and professional musicians beat faster. Not to forget the extremely fruitful cooperation with CASIO, all of these instruments from C. BECHSTEIN that I have just listed are top class in their segment and price category. 🎹🎼🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎵🎵🎶
@@davidmichael3160 You could hear some of it even in this etude. Very rich and resonant. Actually, the Bechstein pianos have different types of wood for the different registers so that the board would respond to the particular pressure from the various types of strings. It's quite amazing
@@davidmichael3160 Ah I see what you mean. If there is a dealership near you it's worth checking them out. In any case, an audio recording doesn't give justice to the tone of the pianos
The concert is amazing. But, if you are an amateur, just learning or on a budget, the Academy is no slouch and within reach. I even liked the Academy over the Residence but just by a hair so to speak. The Concert is sublime.
Hi, lovely playing and all lovely pianos...the concerto seems to have an extra dimension with clarity and space over the residence...could you please tell me which piece you are playing? Thanks
All sound good, but there is much more flexibility and resonance as you move up the hierarchy. Big jump to the Residence, and then some magic beyond competence with the Concert 8.
This video is very cool Evgeny🙏! I wouldn't know how to notice the difference in style of piano sounds because I don't know much about itl 🙈! For me, everything you interpret from your hands sounds perfect! it's incredibly wonderful🎹🎶🌹
Thanks a lot Dionella! Happy you enjoyed the performance 🙏🏼🎶❤️ I do try to extract as much as I can in that particular moment from every instrument to serve the music interpretation
Thanks for posting. I have two electronic keyboards. One a Casio with weighted keys and a Yamaha non weighted keys. Two totally different sounds but I love them both. 💕
@@EvgenyGenchev The Yamaha has 61, good enough for the digital stuff I do but the Casio has 88. Both are touch sensitive so the dynamic range is great.
Thank you for this Evgeny, you play with remarkable sensitivity. I came here because I’m considering upgrading my Yamaha SU7 to a Bechstein, I haven’t found a Concert 8 to try but have played the Academy 124 and a Residence 118 this week (in that comparison to my surprise I preferred the smaller piano!). Obviously the sound I’m hearing here is limited by the iPad I’m listening on but to my ears the Residence sounds the cleanest with good note separation and clarity as well as excellent resonance. I hear so much praise for the Concert 8, am I missing something, I wonder if it’s to big a sound for most European sized rooms/homes, does it need a lot of space to breath, if so that would negate the reason most people (including myself) buy uprights in the first place. What are your thoughts…
The challenge is that both the Academy and Residential were recorded on the bass side and the Concert on the treble. It’s giving the Concert tenor and treble an unfair advantage based on proximity of recording device.
Holy cow! The differerences are amazing and well beyond just nuances. The Academy has an even, mellow and rich sound. The Residency overall is brigther, with a beautiful mellow bass, though left and right hand are still even in character. But the clarity and beauty of the Concert just blew me. That's a totally different level (also pricewise I'm afraid). It sound rich, warm and clear. The music expands in depth and character, but you can hear every single note much better than on the other two. The rich body of the left hand and the clarity of the right hand are clearly discernibly. Also, the colour of the tone changes with volume, and after all that's what marks out the excellence of piano-building. Beautifully played on all three instruments. Here's the nasty question: with a price tag of 35.000 €, would you buy the Concert 8 or rather an Academy grand piano?
Hello Evgeny, Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I love so much your playing! Regarding the comparison, do you think Residence 118 would have the same « waw effect » as the Resistance 124? Thank you ! I cannot stop watching your performance which touches me! Thank tou!
Brilliant! Great going Evgeny. I personally have an Academy 124 Style and boy is it good. The resonance through that soundboard can move you. Thinking of upgrading to the Residence 124. How different could they be in your opinion? Thank you.
Hi Evgeny, How is your feeling of the touch ?Is it a little too light & too easy to press?l am planning to own a A 175 .ls it have much difference between the Concert & Academy series on Grand pianos?
I may have heard of, I don't know, 300 classical pieces at least... I don't know why when it is a piano demo, they always want to play a piece that is not the top 100 pieces that people are familiar with. When you play a piece a person hears for the first time, how are they going to compare it with what they have heard before?
Usually, the pieces that people are the most familiar with may not be the best for exploring and testing touch, color, intensity, dynamic range and all that. This piece is absolutely great for that.
@@winterheat jesus, i think you have misinterpreted the tone of my initial comment. I'm answering your question as i think it is, no need to read into every single word i use. It's not a big deal
The comparison would have been much better if you put the name of the piano being played on the screen. A 2 second flash of the name of the model is insufficient.
