Both Imelda and Darrel are absolutely fantastic! Heard Imelda a little while before the Les Paul tribute concert and thought then she was fantastic, but that concert just showed what a complete singer she is! Darrel's band was in the back and what a job they all did! Watch the concert, it's fantastic!
Xdray Gul She maybe Irish but Darrel and the band are British. It was the British Music industry that gave her the success. Not that it matters. Great voice, talent & personality. Worthy success for someone that's done the "apprenticeship" and not just become an overnight success at 17yrs old with no grounding in life.
She writes the grand majority of the songs, and is the voice of the band. The rest of the band understands this, and I'm not entirely sure why you don't. And it was ultimately all of them busting their arses in Na Saoirsí that gave them all success, including her. Not that it "matters". Lastly, I understand that there's a propensity among the English (but not British) to claim the culture of brilliant people from other real countries, like the Irish Republic; especially because most of the rest of the world has no idea that Ireland is its own country, unlike all of the rest of the tangent states that make up the UK. I would implore you to please stop doing it.
Xdray Gul WTF! Over re-action or what??! Stop doing what?? And who exactly is claiming Irish culture as their own?? As it happens, England has had plenty of culture forced on it over the years but, as proven in more recent times, if we try to resist it we're labelled as racists. Although I guess it was a bit harder trying to resist the Romans/Vikings/Angles/Saxons/Normans....... I was merely trying to justify John Hegarty's use of the term "British Music" and hoping to indicate that he may have been referring to the British Music INDUSTRY (recording/media/promotion etc etc). I didn't realise "Imelda May", the brand, was a 100% Eire production and had already sold hundreds of thousands of records before they appeared on the Jools Holland show. Just don't be too upset when a southern American comes along and chastises them for "borrowing" American music. Apologies to Imelda for any mis-understanding but I am sure you are a lot more secure with your identity. BTW Xdray Gul, I hope you're not confusing all the rubbish/attitude/culture of Westminster & London with that of the REAL England.
I love Imelda May. Heard her for the first time a few years ago on a Jeff Beck album and instantly had to get her album. Her band, with husband Darrel, are the same style I performed when I was singing. Stupid talented band!! I've been a true fan ever since.
Imelda is an amazing, talented singer and Darrel an excellent guitar player. Wether Imelda sings with a simple acoustic backing like here, or with a complete good band like in the Rockabilly Classic “The train kept a-rollin’ “, she always sings with a lot of feeling and conviction. Impressive!
Was so sad to see these two break apart .... Hope you are both still friend ' brilliant Artists ❤️ all the best So lucky to have seen them live together Toronto Horseshoe Tavern ... Great show
Very cool, Imelda May, your voice and the very brilliant Sound of the "Halfaukustic-Guitar", played by Darrel Higham together! It is only once! I do hear the sound and do feel the Beat of a "Slapbass"! I do want to hear some more music and i do want some more Video´s!! LG to you! Yours Markus...:D :)...
Ok so I binge watched as many of her videos as I could find lol Now I’m purchasing every album she’s ever done lol. Hey she can’t pay her bills with RUclips likes lol Awesome voice she makes everything sound good! Cheers
I love your music, ya'll are so blessed to have such a wonderful marriage, congratulations. I wish you two the best. Thanks for the posting. GOD bless.
I love music that drives. You both have "THAT". Thanks for staying after at Viva Las Vegas so I could finally meet you two. Hope to see you there next year. Rockabilly Rules.
Gosh, they are so talented. And so adorable. I love that little thing they do at the very end of thye song. I hope they stay together a long long time. Because in today's world, couples get divorced way to fast. They just so don't stick it out togther the way they did many years ago. I wish these two the best. They make such a beautiful pair. And again - so incredibly talented.
See who wears the pants in that house! Touching a guys guitar.....what ever's next? D H is one of the finest modern day players about. Great upload. A missus who can holla a song too. Match made in heaven I'd say.
+Paul James So right mate, a real shame, they're such a well matched couple, sad indeed, I'm sure though that little Violet will not suffer through this, they're both good parents!
just seen them live at the liverpool philamonic imelda has a great voice and her husband darrel is great on guitar they played this on the night definately see them again had a photo taken with imelda and she signed our programme after the show, darrel has a great voice also check out him and imelda playing with jeff beck at the les paul tribute concert, see if you spot david bowie in the audience great concert.
Imelda is an amazing, talented singer and Darell an excellent guitar player. Wether Imelda sings with a simple backing like here, or with a good band like in the great rockabilly classic "The train kept a-Rollin' ", she always sings with much feeling and conviction! Impressive!
Bill Cooke You’ve been missing out man. If you are a guitar player there are very few styles that are better to learn than rockabilly. It encompasses so many different styles. Blues, rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, Country/western, swing... it’s all there.
Kevin Martin I KNOW that but WHY would you say that to ME?? What is the deal?? I have never said otherwise. No matter WHAT I say, ten Million Trolls will whine about it. It is just what they do, they are Habitual Bitchers. They spend all day at Wal-Mart mopping up baby PEE so they can get a Minimum Wage "check" and give their supervisor a Snappy Salute. Then they go home to their Parent's Cellar and get on their Compooter and Anonymously get to talk tough and rude to some Stranger on the other side of the World without getting their ASS WHUPPED. Believe me Nobody gives a damn what you think or say, BB
OK, it;s not recorded in a studio, no offence to Imelda but the guitar playing is excellent, Darrel 'nailed it'. Imelda was just superb, as ever. Sorry about the split and great wishes to both in the future; your business people, not mine. Pax vobis.
XC.
If I could play the guitar I would consider myself accomplished if I could play less than half as good as Darrel Higham he makes that guitar sing for sure!
Saw Imelda May in Boston amazing voice and perfomer and Darryl Higham perfect. Love this
This is the Imelda May I love.

@Dan Orlandea totally agree! And just to add, also the incredible Brian Setzer! 😻
I've also seen her and Darrel live, they both have a fantastic sense of rhythm.
Thankfully we have this on video. While I understand that couples break up it is a loss that these two won't be making music together anymore.
Imelda gives me hope for the future of music. Sooo talented and cool. One of the best things about British music in the last 10 years.
She's actually Irish, and there's a massive difference. :)
agreed !!

Imelda puts the half naked pop tarts to shame. absolute cool.

Nice to see you singing, a beautifull voice rockabilly
It's very sad to hear that they've broken-up and are no longer working together.
+Paul James So right mate, a real shame, they're such a well matched couple, sad indeed, I'm sure though that little Violet will not suffer through this, they're both good parents!
+Paul James The best party record was the Jeff Beck and Imelda May record. I really wish they could get back together.
It´s nearly impossible for a musical couple to combine both areas. Most of the time it ends in a divorce/split.
@@anonymusum I think marriage in general is a tricky business xD
I love this voice, beautiful young woman, beautiful rocker! The syntonie voice and instrumental is génial !
just seen them live at the liverpool philamonic imelda has a great voice and her husband darrel is great on guitar they played this on the night definately see them again had a photo taken with imelda and she signed our programme after the show, darrel has a great voice also check out him and imelda playing with jeff beck at the les paul tribute concert, see if you spot david bowie in the audience great concert.
