- This Fury was a commission, and I got permission from my client to record the creation process. I didn't manage to record all of it, but got some of each part. The video is edited to about 3.5x speed, and the model took around 3 weeks to make.
This model was made using Blender.

This is a really impressive model and rig! I'm a 3D artist as well, but I was trained in Maya (bleh) and have been slowly moving over to Blender. I didn't realize you could do so much in Blender alone, watching your video gave me a way better idea of the capabilities of the program. It keeps getting more impressive.

Fascinating! As a beginner 3D modeller and sculpter I loved watching this and learning from it. For limbs I was using Boolean to attach them because I couldn’t figure out how else but your meathod of extruding faces is really smart!

7:15 I wonder, when you filled in the wings bit by bit, couldnt you just have selected the one long edge and pressed f repeadetly? That should have selected the two adjacent edges and filled the space?

That does usually work well, but it’s also sometimes inaccurate and will make a face where I don’t want one to be. So, even though it takes a bit longer, I prefer to do it manually.

Is this supposed to be an alien version of the Night Fury?
I think it’s someone’s OC. I’m not really into canon breaking OCs either lol

@@-elliott-averagedragonenjo1812 Not really sure how it's canon breaking but okay. Just because he has glowing patterns, horns and extra fins doesn't mean he's an alien lmao. Look at the other HTTYD designs. A lot of the Dragons in the films have glowing patterns, they just aren't visible.
@@starchasernf1661 night furies have only one canon design, toothless.
It’s a panther like pure black dragon with dark grey patterns on its body with green eyes.
If you look at other dragons of the same species in the franchise their models are identical, no changes whatsoever. Only the colours change. E.G you get monstrous nightmares that are red, but sometimes purple or green.
The only other canon “night fury” dragon we have is the light fury. And if you look at the other two light fury’s we see in the hidden world they are STRICTLY pure white with blue eyes. All the exact same model as the main light fury we follow in HTTYD 3.
Using this evidence it’s pretty easy to understand that a night fury is strictly a black dragon with green eyes. Anything else is canon breaking.
If you want a canon night fury you need to make a pure black dragon of any age or gender with green eyes.
@@starchasernf1661 also night lights are strictly a cross between the night fury and light fury? If toothless’s ancestors were different colours with different coloured eyes and weird horns and fins wouldn’t the light furies inherit some of their grandparents traits? The reason they are black and white dragons with green or blue eyes is because every night fury looks either identical or incredibly similar to toothless.

Why couldn't the light fury be this. It would've looked so cool, inspired by white and blue northern lights. Instead, we got a glitter nightfury reskin (the design is good, but it could've been more creative)

The UV mapping part had me lost, had no idea what was going on xD
Mostly adding seams, which helps unfold the uv’s in a neat way. Kind of like determining where the seams go on a piece of clothing and cutting it into separate pieces, which makes it way easier to texture and minimizes warping

Can we plz get a tutorial on how to move the models? I downloaded them but I can't figure out how to move them.
You have to select the rig and bring it into '"pose mode". If that doesn't work and you still can't move the bones and pose the model, then that means your version of Blender is too new. The models work in version 3.1.2, and older. Any of the newer versions don't support the old files.
