I love how clean the friction, piece replacement, and resolution of clipping is in this. I'd have to imagine the clipping handling is custom? The devs really tried to make sure stuff wouldn't shoot out & ruin your run, while still making sure that clipped pieces slide around other pieces properly and attempt to get out as stably as possible. These physics seem far more intentional than any other Suika-like we've seen so far.
I found it pretty funny when they were contemplating "if Hokkaido's borders were different." Hokkaido's an island, guys. Its borders are the coastline.
Watching these guys sending ages talking about Hokkaido's shape and who decided that that's the territory it should own while knowing that Hokkaido is literally just the whole island and that the shape was "decided" before humans even existed is just so funny to me
I think one feature that could be interesting to add to a Suika-like is to take the bump feature from Space Pinball. For all those times that you just need something to move a little bit you can jostle the board to add some physics.
Given that Hokkaido is the entire island (I think), it'd be a pretty wild history for the region to be shaped differently. Some volcano eruption thousands of years ago, maybe?
It would be funny if on the final day you guys play all the games people have been asking for but play it for like 10 seconds then move on to the next one
my colaboration to the perfect suika: if it has non-standard pieces, you need a button to turn them around before you drop them. you're welcome, Mr gold.
i was gonna say "please play giraffe town" but then i remembered that there are only like 4 days left of non scheduled videos and theyre all gonna be suika-likes
I love japan! Japan is where nintendo is from, and they made my favorite game Mario Strikers Charged for Wii which i cant wait for you guys to play on my birthday November 29th!!
I am crossing my fingers and hoping they have that final episode of Wario World they said they recorded two years ago but never uploaded saved for December. Please…
Suika shapes has a charge meter and swap(hold) as well as mods you can apply, also the rising floor mode as speed mode (and friend/global leaderboards for everything) and 15 unique shapes without clipping. Looking forward to your video after I release the game tomorrow (12 est hopefully). No multiplayer yet but I'd like to add it if I can
A couple of ideas I had for multiplayer Suika: 1. A shared next fruit sequence. Basically, the central divider between the 2 players' sides would have every upcoming fruit shown, maybe 10 or so depending on scale, so both players can see all of the fruits and try to make sure they get the fruits they need. 2. Instead of raising the floor for each merge, make the floor act like a set of scales. Each fruit would have a weight value, probably something like 2x the weight of the previous fruit. Each player would start with the base of their play area a quarter of the way up and each player's base would raise and lower based on the ratio of their side's weight to their opponent's
an essential aspect of the perfect suika is a timer before game loss. enables some interesting risky plays and reduces launching rng changes like hold button, jostle mechanic, rotation all serve to make the game easier, so it may be worth adding an extra step to balance it
I started watching the channel a week or two before Suika Week began, and I don't plan on stopping now. Even if I'm not at all interested in whatever game yall are playing, the two of you just have good conversations, it's fun to listen to in the background
i mean this in the best way: these suika videos have been putting me to sleep for the past few nights. It's so soothing to just listen to you both talk while faint sounds of the games play in the background. Thank you for continuing to play these!
11:25 a reminder of an actual butterfly effect If Tetsuya Takahashi was allowed to use the script of Xenosaga as the script for Final Fantasy 8, he would've never had the idea for making an extended universe despite the fact Square wasn't going to give him a sequel for it And if square did give him funding and allowed him to continue Xenogears, he wouldn't've left to form Monolithsoft and went to Namco and if he was allowed with Namco to extend Xenosaga out past 3 games, he and Monolithsoft would not've left for the Wii and Nintendo and if Xenoblade Chronicles 1 wasn't part of the 3 games fans pushed for localization for via Project Rainfall, it wouldn't've sold well since it would've been a Japanese exclusive, and wouldn't make profit or impact to warrant Shulk in smash or the existence of Xenoblade X And without Xenoblade X gaining the attention of Nintendo and getting Monolithsoft's involvement with Breath of the Wild, its highly likely that BotW would not have released on time for Switch's launch, in the same completed state its in, or possibly even released at all Meaning you can blame Cloud Strife and English dub fans for Genshin Impact.
It's understandable jome didn't know dishwashers exist, but it's really not hard to guess what they do. Like, the name is literally DISH-WASHER. It's like if i asked what a rice cooker does. IT COOKS RICE
I watched nearly every video this year on gold just bc i love to have some video blabbing about anything in the background and your channel is just very consistent for that content
I know that they constantly talk about how it's sad when you realise how long it's actually been and that talk usually doesn't effect me but when Jo asked if anyone was from when custom coliseum was a thing for some reason that was the thing that got me thinking about the past and how short time is and I got sad
I can understand not knowing what an air conditioner is cuz wtf does it mean to condition air? But a dishwasher says exactly what it does in the name, it washes dishes.
I need you to know that I’m just a casual viewer on this channel but listening to ya’ll and watching you play a suika-like is the closest thing I’m ever going to get to enjoying ASMR. I think that may be why these videos are doing so well.
Welp, now the background footage of the year recap or tier list whatever or has to be a Suika game. It's just the perfect background stuff for any conversation it seems.
The tier list is going to be fantastic because doing 15 minute to 1 hour videos is not enough time to learn most games and get the quality out of them. As such, you guys should play Path of Exile exactly for that reason.
I know you just said you're rapping up suika week but I made an alpharad gold themed suika called "Suika; Gold" if you felt like trying it out (It does not contain all your ideal suika mechanics but does have a leaf transition button)
I think the most jarring back to back upload was Valorant to Murder of sonic, that sh*t was so funny seeing the notification after I watched the Valorant video. What a week
hey alpha i’ve watch so many of your videos i personally feel like you owe me money do you know how many times i’ve fallen asleep while watching alpharad gold. in the past 2 weeks ive woken up with your best of 2018 6 times that is so much money ive given you and i feel like you owe me
21:31 "this is more for people to put on while they do homework in the background" I slightly feel called out. I just cleaned one of my subject, which homework I finished to get the next one
What an interesting two weeks this has been, I sure hope next week is the sims 4 week. It's because I have been asking for you fellas to play the sims 4 for 329 days!
agreed about that tip thing, I'm so anal about my tipping that when I'm offered to tip digitally I turn it off and hand the driver a fiver personally (for a 15 dollar pizza so it's a 33% tip) just to make sure the company they work for isn't stiffing them.
If you make a suika game, a fun mechanic might be the ability to shake the basket. Like you can have a power guard for how hard you wanna shake it and so you can try to shuffle your basket around but you also risk flinging stuff out of it
so idea with the trash blocks to add onto the trash blocks and raising floor so like you get sent trash blocks and the floor raises but like the roof is taller to compensate and matching the trash blocks relowers your floor as opposed to just not doing anything like in whale game
The fact last custom coliseum was 2021 is simultaneously shocking how it was so long ago, but also shocking how recent it was seeing how there have been two rebrands since then.
We need a "Tetris Game" where the pieces that drop can combine with other pieces, like in Suika, and lines can also delete rows like in Tetris. The Pieces drop like in Suika, and there would have to be some weirder and more unique shapes the more you merge, and the goal would be to just play like in Tetris (unfortunately that means getting a watermelon doesn't matter at all, but I think it would be cool anyways)

Can't wait to see "Suika Gerrymandered US Voting Districts Game"
I like how they started talking about how changing prefecture borders in Japan would affect them and the people watching but not the people of Japan
I love how clean the friction, piece replacement, and resolution of clipping is in this. I'd have to imagine the clipping handling is custom? Uhm actually Hokkaido also includes some islands (also technically they could have cut up Hokkaido in several parts)

okay, okay, fine, i SUPPOSE i'll support the channel beyond suika week...
i wont
10:10 Imma be honest, I’ve never ben consistently watched this channel until Suika
By “consistently” I mean I’ve watched like 5ish videos on this channel until Suika
This is an interesting take on the Suika genre, a perfect end to Suika Week 2
“End of suika week” into “We found a suika versus game” was definitely the most jarring back to back episodes
There comes a point where 15 different suika games becomes both a problem and a solution in life.
Imagine two time travelers changing the shapes of prefectures just to make Hokkaido better for a Suika game
Honestly, the idea of petty time travellers changing the past to make really minor changes to their current lives sounds like an amazing tv show.
Funny enough, Hokkaido is one of the only prefectures that can't change shape, because that's just how the island was made 150,000 years ago.

There's still the Touhou Suika game. This has to continue.
The people demand Touhou Suika, the only Suika game to actually feature Suika Ibuki.
omg, Suika Combination is adorable, thank you for informing me of its existence

We're reinventing tetris
I would counter that with a "shake" button. Just a small shake to get some pieces to touch
i agree with this
Also adjust their size. That would be sick.
