  • In this video I open up a new Echo CS-352 chainsaw and chop some stuff with it. I picked this up from Home Depot for $259 in preparation for a hurricane that was about to blow through Florida. In the video I'm trying it out on some dry oak logs that I had to section up.

    Nice video.. However, when you have a problem starting the Echo CS 352 or any other chain saw ..BECAUSE it's flooded (that's what you did the first time you tried .. based on your video) The solution is to remove the spark plug, turn the unit upside down, and pill the starter 25 times to remove the fuel inside the cylinder, then clean and dry the spark plug... Put it all back together... and DO NOT CHOKE IT .. just pull the starter and it will start instantly... might die, and a few more pulls will be necessary.. with a little help from the throttle .. remember.. do not choke it at all after removing fuel and spark plug cleaning. (remember to turn on the ignition switch first .. :-)

      I'm thinking he had the ignition turned off because he kept referring to it as a kill switch and that it should be off. Lol

      No, that's all a waste of time. Just no choke, and full throttle until it starts.

    I do plunge cuts on some trees when bringing them down, the kick guard on the end of the bar kind of makes that impossible, I guess it is good for the beginner, but will just get in the way when you really start working with it.

    Unless it's like Emergency Services or you're having a Emergency with sudden weather etc.The canned Gas is great for that,shelf stable ready to go.

    Most all echo products start on first or second pull out of the box. Prime it 8 times then choke. I've never had an echo product take more than 3 or four pulls.

    The benefit of the canned fuel is shelf life. Instead of going bad after 6 months, it's good for a couple years.

      Put some sta-bil in your fuel and good for 6 months plus. A bottle is a few bucks and will do many gallons of fuel.

      @Furn333 and after 3 or 4 years the varnish will build up enough to where it starts to run crappy.

    Did you ever find where to adjust the bar oiler? I think mine runs a little dry and have no idea where the screw adjustment is.

    Afternoon bud, the pre mix specialist fuel, is good thing, it doesnt wreck carbs or rubber gaskets costing loads to fix

    I have the Echo CS 352 and it is new but no tip guard supplied. Mine started on the 2nd pull and is a major improvement over my Poulan/ Craftsman saws. This will run all day, those will not. I think I paid what you did in 2017 259 bucks but bought an extra chain so tax 300 bucks

    That "kill switch" is your ignition switch. It needs to be in the on position, even though for that switch, off is really on, on being a complete circuit to ground. But it's considered to be an ignition switch so it's labeled on, to start. In the event you flooded it, you can try gas ragging it. Hold a rag soaked in gas over the air intake grate. Leave filter in place at first. That way you don't have to worry about rag being sucked into chainsaw when it starts, ..and it will start, if plug is firing. To keep from flooding it in the first place, from a cold start. Prime carb, fully choke saw and pull it until it flutters a little like almost started. After it flutters just once. Open choke back to normal operating position and pull it til it starts, (no more than 5 more pulls)

      Cool I'll try the gas rag tip if I run into it again.

    Well, for me I buy Trufuel for my small gas engines. It's worth the extra money... considering all the problems my small gas engines had when mixing the ethanol gasoline from the gas station with the 2-stroke oil. Trufuel is worth it, especially when I only use +/- 1 gallon per year.

    • @thefiXfiles
      @thefiXfiles  6 лет назад

      Yeah that's a good point. I thought I would use it more but I haven't really needed to. Shoot I'd be surprised if I even use a gallon this year.

    • @chrisradano
      @chrisradano 6 лет назад

      You're probably ok just to use the 2-cycle oil that came in the box. Mix with the high test gas. But you will have problems with the ethanol gas if you use it over an extended time. Eventualy you may not be able to get it started at all. The Trufuel is expensive, but unfortunately it's part of the world we live in today. With Trufuel the small gas engines perform better. You can buy I think a quart of the ready mix fuel.

      I use Trufuel myself considering the limited time I use the chainsaw for cutting up firewood and emergency reasons. Just under $10 @ Home Depot and you don't need a added stabilizer.

      Thanks! I chopped up some old pallets with the other day and I'm still lovin it. I think it'll hold up. But if it turns to junk i'll put Echo on blast and go grab a Stihl or Husqy!

      I have about two and a half gallons of fuel thorough mine now. I've had it for about 9 months. It works well enough. Not real impressed with the air filter though. I checked it after 5-6 tank fulls and even though it was properly installed from the factory it was letting some fine dirt through. I bought a new air filter and it does the same thing.

      @@thefiXfiles trust me you wont have to ditch it for a husky, an echo is a heck of alot better than a husqvarna, echo is more of a professional/ commercial grade.. Husqvarna is owned by Poulan..which are notorious for being junk. You done good buying an echo its as good as a stihl and costs less

      Hi, a friend of mine has exact the same issue. I must buy now a small chainsaw, should i pick a Stihl MS 170/180/181 instead of ECHO 352?

    • @eclark53520
      @eclark53520 4 года назад

      @@Alex-pj8eu First, Husqvarna owns the Poulan brand name, not the other way around. Husqvarna is a subsidiary of Electrolux. They produce their budget minded home owner saws under the Poulan name and produce their higher end saws under the Husqvarna name. Many companies do this for market share and to not sully the higher end name by producing junk budget saws under that name. Think Audi and Volkswagen. Second, Echo is a budget minded saw and good 'bang for your buck' but they are NOT on par with Stihl saws generally speaking. I've run and owned saws from every brand name I've mentioned here.
