'Eyes Closed' is the second single from Sara Savery's forthcoming album 'The Diver' which hits the streets on October 29th 2013 at Dead Peoples Choice.
Inspired by the Henri Georges Clouzot's 'L'enfer' test shots and old russian movies, artist Tobias Wilner creates a dark, and atmospheric performance video for Sara Savery's awesome track 'Eyes Closed'.
'There is so much longing and sexual desire in Sara Savery's music, but there is anger and thoughtfulness too. She knows exactly what she wants to say with her lyrics and she produces all her music herself. Total self-control. Though under the surface, you can feel her sense of longing and chaotic desire. Of course, Sara started to direct herself and others at the set which was pretty cool. I just tried to capture it all. My idea was to put Sara in a room and let her paint a picture and perform in front of it. I tried to change the scenery with different light settings and camera's. I invited in dancer Casper-Malte Jörgensen and actor Parviz Nor to portray the male bodies' diversity and energy. I wanted them to be some kind of an expression of Sara Savery's longings and desires.
After telling her about my idea Sara grabbed a baseball bat that was in the hallway. With her own words - "I like your idea, I really do, but I don't want to be a pussy. I want to fight." So we kind of just took it from there. What else could I do. :)' - Tobias Wilner (NYC 2013)
