Fantastic! This is the best cover of my arrangement I've heard so far, and I definitely am digging your variation on the 2nd half of the last chorus. I don't know how I missed this video up until now. Thanks.

Wow, thank you so much! It sure means a lot coming from the arranger himself. Just so you know, your arrangement has become a classic Christmas tune in my musical family! I love odd time signatures and Sleigh Ride works SO well in 7/8. What gave you the idea?

@@davidnaffie, strangely enough, I came up with it in the early 90s, from a bit on the David Letterman show. There was some kind of Christmas joke bit, I think someone was swinging from a cable every time something happened. Anyway, the band was playing the first 2 bars of Sleigh Ride all in unison and it seemed like they were rushing the 4th beat, making it sound almost like 7/8. That's what spawned the idea.
I pieced the arrangement together and over the years it gradually formed into a finished version I videoed in 2008. I wanted a print license from Alfred so I could sell a PDF in my online store, but they didn't want to give it to me. When people started asking how they could get the music, I told them the story and gave them Alfred's email to send requests.
In 2011, the video went semi-viral and Alfred contacted me to publish it themselves (they didn't realize I had contacted them years before). They still wouldn't give me a print license so I agreed to have them publish it. It took 2 years for them to finally get it in print. I get 5% which is about 12 cents for every one they sell, but they let me buy them at distributor prices, so when I sell one, I get $2.50 for being a seller, and 12 cents for being the creator. I've probably sold more of them myself than all other distributors combined. It took another 2 years to see the first royalty check of $51. Such is the publishing business.

Really dig your change to the left hand part at the end. Definitely going to try that myself. I also love this arrangement, great playing!

Andrew Littleton Thanks! I was hoping someone would notice that left hand addition! And I agree, this arrangement is killer
