      With the way you cut your legs i.e. the 13 inch length does the highest point of your board end up at the regulation 12 inches?

      What clear coat do you use over painted and stained boards? Everyone one I've found so far says not to use on paint

    Best cornhole instructional video ever. Thank you for making everything so clear. BTW, I'm an 81 year old mom and have done quite a bit of woodworking in my lifetime. My best one was a firefighters lawn flag holder.

    FINALLY!! A completely honest youtube channel about building cornhole boards. I do have a few suggestions though.
    1. Put another washer on the leg between the 2x4 and leg itself. It'll make the movement smoother even if the wood swells a little.
    2. Instead of your side pieces being so long, make your top & bottom pieces longer. It'll make it look nicer and your end grain won't be sitting on the ground so much.

    great video! a couple thing i did for my set was:
    1) I used vinyl sleeves over the carriage bolts to help increase the life of the legs so wood is not rubbing the metal.
    2) pocket holes from the bottom to secure the top, this helps keep a uniform playing surface.
    3)a bracing piece in the middle to help prevent the bags from bouncing too much.

    To get more complex you can add cut outs for handles on the sides and add magnets to the legs and bottom of board so they stay in place when moving them

    I’d like to see a router used to round out the edges of the plywood, or top board.
    Also for the 6” hole. I have a 6” hole saw, but sometimes that thing will catch and try to turn my arm into a pretzel.

    I would definitely use wood putty to fin the screw holes on the top surface.

      @@SpencleyDesignCo so, I've got my stain and polyurethane on, but I'm concerned it won't slide so well, without an epoxy coat. Should I add a more slippery top layer?

      It’s totally up to you. You could also just wax the top

    As I look back on the plywood prices, I would buy 3-4 sheets for the prices shown here. My cheapest plywood price currently is $64/ea. 😭😂 Great video, thanks for sharing!

    I will say, in watching your video again I did catch a small error. In the very beginning you say that the project will need "3" 2x4's but in the text (and ultimately you do end up needing) "Four" 2.x4 boards. Just an fyi. Still the best video out there!!!

    I like the simplicity of the make, but one thing I would’ve have done is to fill in the sunken screws with wood putty and sanded them smooth. Otherwise, great video. Keep up the good work.

      Thanks for the support! Spar urethane or poly urethane would be fine. Paint would be the strongest though

    I have made a few of these corn hole games. The only problem I usually have is the legs. The measurement down to the bolt goes in on the leg itself and the side of the board. In the video I do not believe you mentioned that measurement. Great looking products though.

    You don't use a jig for your screws or hide the screws to ur plywood

    What do you do when 2x4s are sprung? The boards are teetering on opposite corners

      You either need to mill them flat, or buy new boards

    As a person who has some experience woodworking, I am no Bill Ng for sure, there are some beginner mistakes here for sure. These plans are good for a start, but look around before you build.
    And as a helpful tip, buy lots of clamps. Strap clamp are awesome. And don’t hold your material, clamp it.
    Again, as a guy who has watched these videos and made the mistakes. You will save yourself money in materials and loss of fingers

    Are these boards regulation?

      They’re the stand 2x4 size. I can’t say I looked up specific regulations for a governing cornhole entity. The only rule we play with is that you have to have a cold beverage 🥤

    It seems like 3 @ 96” 2x4’s is not enough for the job. 48x4 takes 2 of them. 4@21” is 84” and 4@13” is 52” which puts it 40” short. Unless you have a special way to stretch that wood. Folks will get the pieces that you said and then wonder why they are short on wood. Just my thoughts brother.
