I find it funny how Arthur imagines Gary at what looks to be his wedding. He did say in the first film he always liked him.
his only "friend" per say
A 'Bad Romance' and 'Poker Face' 🃏💘
More like Joker Face
I see what you did there 😂
I feel like they'll might make Gaga's Harley Quinn an ex therapist who becomes a big fan of the joker and either gets put in the asylum on purpose or joined the riot and got put there
Absolutely.
Joker 2019 is more adult themed than The Dark Knight trilogy and MCU.
Hopefully part 2 continues the legacy
@@lickenhuntsman5338bro you know it totally is
Love this idea
JOKIE
beat me to it!
HA!
Hah y
I laughed out loud 😂
Others caught that as well!
Harley's 'final form' outfit is amazing, and totally fits in this universe. Great costume design!
Once he moves his face into line with the lipstick on the glass, there's visual effects that are taking over, as it starts to move with his face and mouth. It could be that the lipstick is visual effects that entire scene
defo a composite
Did I say you could send that message?
@@resident1123 Yes, you had.
Or just good directing with a few cut, that will make it a masterpiece
The fact that the titles roughly means shared madness is absolutely prefect.
Or directly, “madness for 2” !! 😆
Madness for two actually 😅
🤦🏾♂️
But it also makes sense not only because this is Joker and Harley meeting, but folie a deux can refer to more than just 2 people sharing the same mental delusion/instability etc. Which might be part of the argument that's used in court to free Joker.
Folie of two @@jimmy-wf1uo
"Delicate relationship with reality ". What a great sentence!!!
Oh yeah my favorite Batman villain: Jokey
That was Thomas' nickname for him in the alternate history shown by How It Should Have Ended.
If you want to continuing crying after watching the latest X-Men '97 ep, go rewatch that video.
@@solvseus kind of sounds like you are crying...
@@RexyAndIKnowIt Forreal
WHY DOES NOBODY TRANSLATE IT.. ITS CALLED JOKER: MADNESS OF TWO!!!
Probably bc that term is used in medical diagnosis a lot the time and is kept in French. I’m assuming just a way to keep it all in perspective of Joker being a true mental patient.
Last time I watched a movie with “madness” in the title, there was no madness. I have trust issues now.
_"JOKEY?"..._ hahaha😂
Can't help but think of the quote "Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?" When Jokey and Harley were dancing with a big moon in the background
Despite Todd Phillips making the ending ambiguous, the script kinda confirms it was all real and Arthur even says “You wouldn’t get it. It’s between me and him.” He essentially knows he created Batman.
Yes. His Murray appearance is definitely real.
The musical bits will be figments of their imaginations, it's going to be so good
I’m really curious to see where this movie goes, and see the turn it chooses to take and the story to go along with it!!!
Jokie😭
The last shot with the smile on the glass reminds me of the heath ledger joker promo trailer for dark knight. Where he writes why so serious on a glass wall and draws a smile and his face is behind the smile. Definitely an homage of some kind
I like to think of this like an Earth 2 situation where nobody is really a hero
POV: you see Arthur dancing with the air😂
I saw that smile in the end a couple of times. They mighr've used some subtle computer generated trickery to line up that smile THAT perfect
Or just maybe just maybe hear me out, they actually directed and told him where to sit and how big his smile needs to be and how curved the lipstick needs to be. They have all day to practice that. Just HOW DIRECTING is done🤦🏾♂️🤷🏽♂️
Joaquin Phoenix is such a fantastic actor
One of the things I caught in this trailer and I don’t know if the same happened in the first movie is that whenever you see moments where Joker and Harley are together and let’s assume it’s a delusional moment shared by both. There’s a lot of color involved anytime there’s color I think it’s a hint of him playing out things in his head, I think that’s the queue whenever you see color pop of color
In the trailer, the person who throws the trashcan at the window, looks to be Harley, and in the last shot of the trailer, if you look hard enough, you could see Harley wear the same beanie.
That's what I was thinking.
Lip stick is probably vfx. He just needs to hold still on the final close-up, they work backward from there for the location
Yeah, that's what I had guessed
Doubt it
@@ajnunez8788 can literally see its not real lipstick....
@@rajimus so u a lipstick scientist now all of a sudden?
That final shot of the trailer is absolutely incredible
6:10 and just like arthur is secretly murray
this is unrelated but X-men 97 most recent episodes just made me rethink life
How?
Because a cartoon character died. Real deep
It made gambit rethink life
@@chadd990 That's not what hurts. What hurts is the depiction of genocide, innocent civilians being massacred.
💯
Jokey 😂
11:28, "Ace in the hole" SIGN. One of Heath Ledger's batman quote.
I think the ending was filmed in reverse and playing backwards. They lined up the shot with the lipstick then JP unsmiled and moved to the side. Played in reverse, it looks like he lined up with the lipstick perfectly
This is where the fun begins
i’ve been waiting for this
So excited for Joker : A star is born
I’m soooo excited for Jokey Folie a Deux!
It's gonna be hard to top the first Jokey though 😰😰
Jokeys on yous
Like with the Smurf, the surprise is explosions.
My MOST ANTICIPATED MOVIE OF THE YEARRRRRRRR
When the dance scene cuts from Hotel Arkham to the dance on the streets its the same moment but the delusional version and the version that takes place in reality.
It looks way better than I was expecting and I’m looking forward to it
The lipstick on the glass was a beautiful shot to end a trailer on.
7:57 why do I need blue chew for lightsaber combat practice in my bedroom? 😂
I hope they make it like Fight Club, none of it is real. I love how the first Joker ended, it kept you thinking
lazily said its all a dream so you have to guess whats real. only to probably tell us in this film. yeah keeps you thinking not lazy at all...
@@rajimus you got a film that has a better ending??
Why the same thing again? 😒
@@durlov2343 just a deeper dive into his mind. We can watch it and view everything from his point of view, not sure if what we’re watching is real or just an illusion. See how crazy and demented his brain works. I think it could be fun and there’s a lot that can be done with it. I wouldn’t mind a thought provoking trilogy
My favorite film of all time is a musical, Bob Fosse's "All That Jazz."
Showtime, folks...
South Park: Bigger, Longer and Un-Cut
(one of my top 2)
The colored umbrellas in the rain shot from above is also an homage to The Umbrellas of Cherbourg.
He mentioned that in the video
yeah he says it right in the video lol
My bad. I navigated away from the video just before he mentioned it. Lol
Ya you navigated from the video at the same time when he said . Why would you
I think the spotlight scene may refer to “Cellophane “ in Chicago❤
Y’all dropping the ball with X-men 97!
Harley: what happened to you to make you this way?
Jokey: I saw the latest episode of that X-Men cartoon.
Harley: same...
Agreed!
I can't wait to see this movie. It gave me electricity in my bones when I saw it. Absolutely beautiful
JOKIE LMAOOO
“Put a smile on my face.” 🎶😊
That explosion in the courtroom
Idk if it was just me but the piano notes at the beginning and end of the trailer reminded me of the song Pure Imagination
Oh me too 1000%
I said rhe same thing
ive been waiting for this video all day
13:24
I assumed that Joaquin knew the general area to pose and the red smile was added and blurred digitally after.
It's not just the smile, the whole scene was composite imagery
…. what’s good with that X-Men 97 review? I’ve been patiently waiting!! Love ya!
The final shot with the lipstick on the glass lining up to his smile was probably put together in post. First, they shot him move his head slightly and smile behind the glass. Then they separately shot a hand drawing a smile with lipstick. After that, the two shots were composited, allowing them to perfectly control the relative timing and positioning of everything. It would be crazy to try to shoot that shot 100% in-camera like any other typical shot. If you just shoot the elements separately, it could be easy instead. Getting the composite to look real could be challenging, but the people working on this can obviously do it. I guarantee there's tons of compositing throughout this whole trailer and it all works.
Trailer took me by surprise
cant wait for jokey fally a dur!
Why did we need the synopsis of the first film?
To distract from that last ep of X-Men '97.
3:33 I really hope that was a reference to that one John Mulaney bit lmao(one of my all-time favorite comedy bits)
I was hesitant now I’m pumped!!
I haven't seen the first Joker. But I am interested in this one, because it is a musical. And the trailer looks great!
The first one is vastly overrated. I almost saw it in the theater, and am glad I did not.
Not literally a musical! Joker got jokes
...
....
..... see the 1st one.
200$ million..damn. the first Joker was 60$ million. I read Phoenix received$20 million. Its all worth it. This film will gross a like last time..i can't wait. The trailer gave me the chills😅👍🏻
"Jokey" lol
I’m gonna be honest, I wish it was X-men. Shit went down today
Then how about an x-lover ?
12:41 child that ain't nothing but some aftereffects
That wedding sequence kinda reminds me of the one from The King of Comedy
10:00 I highly doubt that. Maybe a plea for insanity or something is more likely.
X-MEN 97 😢
I’ve been waiting for this all day too
I been waiting on X-Men 97 episode 5😭
Ghostbusters 😢
When I got the notification I was so excited bc I thought this was x men 97
It was so sad what happened
11:16 the scene I waited *years* for
Nice to see a trailer that doesn't try to cover up the fact that it's a musical.
Excuse me did he say "Jokey"?
Yeah proofreading on these scripts is horrible
@@theirontitan4760add research to that list as well
lol “Jokie”
Jokie
This movie is gonna be masterpiece just like the 1st one was!
this whole movie is gonna be a hallucination
Ready!!!
Arthur did not submit the tape to Murray Franklin
I think a lot of the start of the movie will be in Arthur’s head again. It wouldn’t surprise me if the first act is that, the second act reveals Harley is actually his therapist, the third act they hit the town.
I love your videos
The umbrellas remind me of Bjork's video, "It's Oh So Quiet".
Looks amazing!! I loved Phoenix in walk the line so we know he can sing and obviously GaGa can do it all too so I can’t see this being anything but a huge success
I feel it’s gonna be like “shutter island”
The Glass Smile shot is A WINNER by itself.
Joker & Harley is akin to Sonny & Cher - interesting that the setting seems so 70s this time (and pulling from even earlier classic cinema).
Are we in the Joker's head with one of his origin stories again? Fascinating stuff!
It is only 1981 in the first Pheonix Joker movie, so it's presumably still '81 or '82. The notorious "Eighties" style didn't really form until '85.
i bet the smiley shot was added in post
While you might be right about Chicago…I see those smoky single or double lit jazz club shots more akin the Lenny…the Lenny Bruce story with Dustin Hoffman from the late 60s and some Cabaret from the 70s.
Can you break down Chicago please ?🙏🏻
This has potential that’s for sure
We need corridor crew to analyze the final shot with the smile, but i think it couldve been easier to cgi this
although "what the world needs now" is an older song, it also shares the first same three notes as the beginning of "pure imagination" from the wonka movies. this would fit perfectly into the theme
NONOooOoOo XMen 97' ep 5 hit harder😭
The Alien franchise being the “best sci-fi series of all time” is certainly a debatable assertion.
Definitely debatable.. But it's true.
Now this looks good
I'm so excited for this movie. I absolutely loved the first one.
October please hurry up ❤
I'm stoked for this movie, and a huge musical theater / cinema fan. I wonder if a guard / warden will be a DC name that gets interpreted as a hero in this film, yet is known as a villain in comics.
It looks like the white suit is for a wedding, but the first thing I thought of was the Dark Knight Returns comic/GN upon seeing it.
After seeing the trailer I git excited to see it
@11:29 there is a movie promo for "Ace in the hole" a homage to HLjoker saying "you need an ace in the hole".
I still cant believe the studio let Todd do his own thing again, they could've easily said "No we made the first one great so listen to what we want you to do" ike many movie from warner
Well if your first movie made a billion when Warner never wanted to do the first movie in the first place, you tend to get a whole lot of free reign over what you want to do.
About Timeeeewee
The lipstick on the glass is also a reference to Heath Ledgers joker, where in that infamous poster “why so serious”, the joker is behind the glass with blood painted on it as a smile
Could we see Harvey Dent in some form during the trial scenes? Cobblepot as the owner of the club Arthur performs at?
