- Since 2006, Jefe Branham has been tackling some of the most challenging self-supported bikepacking races out there. However, one that he’s yet to check off that list is the full Arizona Trail Race, an 800+ mile ride from Mexico to Utah. In our latest Rider & Rig video, Neil catches up with Jefe to learn about the race, his signature @whycycles7848 El Jefe, what he’s bringing along, and how he plans on carrying his bike through the Grand Canyon.

more of this please. dedicated load outs of hard core riders. 👏🏿💪🏿
Jefe is a boss. Enjoyed the video and rig rundown. Nice to hear his thought process and preparation. He’s a serious masher running single speed for that race!
Great hearing about his setup. Hopefully a follow up video upon completion!
1 of the channels that got me into bikepacking, thank you for all the advice.
It is so cool to see you still doing it.
I love this rig. damn. 30x22 is a great climbing gear for such endurance events.
On a SS, this reminds me of when I attempted a shot over night camp in the UK on a SS. I was spinning, walking and everything in between 😅 what a legend!!! Good luck 🍀
Just stumbled across the channel yesterday and videos like this are amazing for me ❤️
So good, more of these!
Inspired by all the experimenting, testing, adopting and home made stuff. He could start his own line of bags and gear too! Good luck!
love this stuff
Amazing bike - WHY cycles doesn't get enough press. I have a 2018 WHY R+: their all-road (gravel) bike - and I love it.
Nice Video Thanks. I am also interested in the coffee machine in the background. 😀
Same, looks an interesting piece of kit.
Love the single speed , kiss methodologies.
Paul hub White freewheel good choice 👌
Jefe
Legend!!!
Those are some wide handelbars in the intro!
Nice! 🫡
Go Jefe!
Love your channel man 🤙 wanted to ask if you had any videos with handlebar bags and brake and shifter cable management? Looking to fix my daily with a handlebar bag but I don't want to kink any of my cables up..
I've been meaning to do this, I'll try and get this done next month.
At 1:12 not only rocky but rattle snakey too!
Great R&R video,... learned a ton. Jefe, what is your shoe choice for both riding and/or hiking?
I forgot to ask that, I’ll get him to tune in here.
Grand Canyon was hard enough with just a 20lb pack. Gotta be brutal with an awkward 40+
It's so painful and there is no real good way to do it, but it sounds like Jefe has actually put in more time than most. I'm impressed.
See article/interview. Thanks!
Y is all the storage up front?
He has a big dropper so he wants to use almost all of the travel.
What clothes and shoes ?
What are you roasting there? Coffee?
That’s a pretty cheap theft, Ventana had the el Jefe name years ago.
What do you mean?
