Probably one of the most interesting Lyrical Pieces by Grieg! The middle-section is extremely developed from the point of wiew of harmonic style, so schumannesque in the rhythm! Thanks Glen.
I'm glad you enjoyed the performance and the piece; I like the richness of the harmonies and the emotions; the middle section is a good contrast with the main sections. I'm not familiar enough with Schumann to recognize the rhythmic similarities.... so much music (and musical instruments).... so little time! ;-)
I enjoy the main leads, the simple (well, not simple to play, but simple for the ears to hear) parts that lead into the complex parts, very nicely done!
Wonderful. What you may lack in polish is more than made up for in understanding. Few pianists get the pacing and feel right (esp in the intro) as you do. Grieg is reflecting on loss here - often premature loss of much that seemed secure. After a very bright and promising beginning, his life and career quickly experienced much unexpected loss of loved ones and of health and stamina soon leaving him unable to accomplish much of what he intended. Still he never lost his enthusiasm for life.
Thank you for having listened with such a friendly ear. :-) My performances are rarely as I'd like them to be, but it's what I love doing.
