That is what it is, it is meant to sound like you are sneaking into the mountain king's hall and then he spots you and you have to flee while being chased by a giant troll.
Fun Fact: the composer came up with this idea after a dream he had where he met and fell in love the mountain king's daughter, but that angered the king which caused him to chase the dreamer around his halls. The music is the sound of the king in his dreams steadily gaining on him as the dreamer runs faster and faster

You're joking... right? Edvard Grieg literally wrote this song as a joke and basically called it so bad he couldn't stand listening to it. It was composed with the intent to be awful and call out songs for being too nationalistic. Grieg's feelings about this song in his own words: "For the Hall of the Mountain King I have written something that so reeks of cowpats, ultra-Norwegianism, and 'to-thyself-be-enough-ness' that I can't bear to hear it, though I hope that the irony will make itself felt."
This song is the perfect manifestation of procrastination. It begins relaxed and calm before slowly descending into chaos and disorder. Whenever I hear it, I'm always reminded of the last-minute rush to submit an essay.
When you're lying in bed at the end of the day relaxing and then remember that you have three projects, five essays, and two research papers due tomorrow.
A lot of people associate this song with fear or anxiety, but I associate it with thrills and excitement. This is because of Alton Towers. If you're not British, you may not have heard of this. Alton Towers is one of the most, if not the most, popular theme park attractions in the UK, arguably one of the most popular in the world. This is the Alton Towers theme song! It has some of the scariest rides to exist, with one of the rides, The Smiler, holding the world record for the most inversions on a rollercoaster (14). Alton Towers is truly a place of joy, thrills, excitement, and fear combined into the ultimate day out. Despite height restrictions, the theme park is family friendly and welcomes all ages with open arms. However, it takes courage to dare to ride some of the coasters that are home to Alton Towers. I (17, genderfluid) went for the first time one week ago with my dad and friend, and I absolutely ADORED it! I went on tamer rides due to being scared, but it was still extremely fun and I would 100% go again. I recommend it strongly!!! ANYWAY YEAH RAMBLE OVER this song is the theme song for Alton Towers
+George Washington True. Trump doesn't have that problem. He tells yuge lies right off the bat, then either denies he said what he said, blames someone else, or clearly clarifies that yes, he really did mean it even after it has been strongly disproven. And apparently, being "caught" doesn't hurt him much, since his supporters just agree with everything he says anyway.
I will forever mainly associate this song as the theme for Alton Towers. Nothing fits a theme park better than a song that perfectly encapsulates mystery, suspense, and excitement all into one.

Ironic that the piece Grieg hated the most would be the one to become truly timeless.
Equally ironic that Beethoven disliked his 5th symphony and yet that turned out to be his most famous work.
Tchaikovsky hated the 1812 overture yet it's one of the things he's known for
What is with great artists hating their best pieces?

You're joking... right?
Edvard Grieg literally wrote this song as a joke and basically called it so bad he couldn't stand listening to it. It was composed with the intent to be awful and call out songs for being too nationalistic.
Grieg's feelings about this song in his own words: "For the Hall of the Mountain King I have written something that so reeks of cowpats, ultra-Norwegianism, and 'to-thyself-be-enough-ness' that I can't bear to hear it, though I hope that the irony will make itself felt."
This is the music version of "I have messed up and now everything is going downhill very fast"

This song is the perfect manifestation of procrastination. It begins relaxed and calm before slowly descending into chaos and disorder. Whenever I hear it, I'm always reminded of the last-minute rush to submit an essay.

Omg that's so hard sometimes
I will forever mainly associate this song as the theme for Alton Towers. Nothing fits a theme park better than a song that perfectly encapsulates mystery, suspense, and excitement all into one.
