I know this was made 5 years ago but I'm grateful to have come across this now. I have a 2007 Toyota and the more I can do myself the happier I am. I went to the shop yesterday for a check and was told $40 for a clean filter! It didn't sound right. Now I'm glad I waited! Im actually looking forward to doing this myself. I love being able to take of my own problems. I pride myself on it.
Awesome, I'm glad you found the video and I'm sure you will get it done! Always feels good when you accomplish something new!! Let me know how it turns out!
Thank you ! They wanted to charge 65 for this and I am too broke for that. So glad I could go buy one and easily change it myself. Thanks for the video.
Thanks so much for your video! It was an excellent tutorial! Gave me the confidence to buy my own cabin air filter for $8 and got the job done in under 5 minutes. Firestone was going to charge me $55 (!!!) parts and labor for this. Thank you so much!
Just replaced on my Toyota Corolla 2003 today. Great directions. And for my car the arrow should definitely be pointed down per instructions of manufacturer of filter. Thanks for great video!
Just changed mine, it was absolutely clogged and totally disgusting. I kept thinking something was wrong with the AC / blower and never realized it was this simple solution. Changed the filter and it was like a miracle.
Another giving a shout out and a Big Thank you. It seems like when a woman walks into a dealership or goes to a mechanic the price triples. Great directions-subscribing now!
Thanks Todd: I just done my Toyota Corolla CE 2007 according to your instructions & all came out perfect, (note: The old filter looked that it was never changed it even had some leaf n dirty dirty; I bought mine from Amazon to replace original part at a cost of $12.87, ( there were other cheaper ) once again Thanks Man you saved me a few bucks, now I can breath better... muck obliged.
grettagrids just a little bit of pressure. The pieces that hold it in place are not to thick so it doesn't need to be pinched in to far. good luck and i hope you can get it. let me know how it goes.
WOW Thank you had a very bad smell in the car .So i followed your advice diid it my self. Found out thanks to you a mouse had made a nest on top of the cabin air filter ,...Very bad smell....Replaced and now all is good . thank you thank you thank you ..
Thank u I did it less then 10mins I love ❤️ RUclips you get to learn a lot and don’t need people to steel your money I’m an old woman 👵 but still can handle myself 😬
Thanks for the video, even though it's pretty straightforward and might seem obvious to some people. My new Corteco filter came with instructions that said the air flow is from down to up and thus the filter would be upside down. It makes no sense though, since the old filter was dirty on top side, and I checked the flow direction by turning on the blower fan. Such a simple job but could've gone wrong if I just blindly followed the written instructions haha, cheers 👏
Great vid. I appreciate your simple and deliberate presentation. Easy for a mechanically-challenged, slow-witted knucklehead like myself to understand.
Thank you so much for putting this together. I tried to find if my car had one in my manual...no help. I popped it out and it was filthy. Easy out easy in. Thanks again.
Thanks for the great video bud! I've done this with my jetta in past. Just took parents car for quick oil change. They looked at cabin filter and was a nest for a mouse! Lol,. Anyway they wanted to replace it for 55 to 60.00!!!! I said thanks but noooo I'll get it. So thanks again! Keep up the great vids 😀
Thanks for this. Not sure why the filter I got has the arrow pointing up when the writing is in the right orientation. Maybe the arrow just says which side is up not the air flow. It is clear that the airflow is down. The old filter had tons of leaves on the top side. Thanks again.
No dirty air comes in the top and that is obvious from the dirt that collects on top of the filter. It's not rocket science. All horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter have downward air flow.
That was great and very helpful, Todd ! Thank you for making it look so easy. I have gotten conflicting info on 1999 Corollas in that they are not supposed to have Cabin Air Filters ? What do you know about this ?
Hi, I just bought a 2001 Corolla :) - I looked for the screw on side of glove compartment but couldnt find one, and found one source online that said they only started putting in cabin filters in the Corolla from year 2003 onwards. So, looks like we may not have to worry about it :)
thanks for this. what's the common part no. for the filter for a 2006 Corolla (which is what I have)? 3040? want to save a trip or phone call to the auto parts store. thanks again.
Fantastic video! Quite useful. One note I would add is when replacing the glove box, I had to do a "pop" on the top rim to get the lower clips to seat properly. Thanks very much for creating this video. BTW the reason I was looking into this is because of mice. It seems this is an area mice can get into your car and build a nest. Nasty!
The manufacturer recommendations vary from year make and model but I inspect mine often usually at every oil change and replace as needed. Thanks for watching!
Do you really need to take out the screw? I feel that by keeping the glove compartment dangling you should be able to access the air filter. Need to try it out though. Thanks.
OK I bought a new cabin air filter for my mothers car.. stinks when the AC is on and NO air getting to the passenger side.. I suppose I better clean the ducts too?

Super clear explanation, with a second person operating the camera, which lets you see everything. Great video!

Thanks for the quick, clear and informative video. Just changed my cabin filter in less than 5 minutes! - from SoCal
Rachel Martin glad you got it fixed yourself!
Thank you for the tutorial. Can't believe the shop was going to charge me 35 bucks for installation.
glad it helped you out!
toyota tryna charge me nearly $60 im dead
They gotta charge you something
Bro a good filter is 60 bucks

I park under a tree and my filter was so clogged to
excellent video. Very nice of this dude to show this. Dealer wants 39.95+tax+shop supplies - $50 - unbelievable
Thank you for the feedback!
Many thanks! Great audio/video with clear and concise directions. Saved myself $60 at the repair shop!
Glad to hear that. Thank you!

Thanks for the feedback and the subscribe. The price on dealerships doing these is crazy!
Thanks so much for taking the time to show us how to change the air filter in my Corolla. From Managua, Nicaragua. Thanks

Great video. Much more helpful than the 90 second video I watched from a parts company.
The arrow goes UP, that's what it says the owner manual of Toyota Corolla 2003 - 2008.
You just saved me $50, counting the price of the part. Thank you so much.
Thanks Todd! Perfect description on the whole thing. Going to change it this afternoon :)
Thank you for video. Detailed and precise. Dealer wants to rip off for this simple replacement.
victoria2371 glad it went well for you! i agree is super easy and they want to charge a premium for it.
how HARD do you have to pinch the sides?: my hands are not super strong and I have to do all my own repairs.
grettagrids just a little bit of pressure. The pieces that hold it in place are not to thick so it doesn't need to be pinched in to far. good luck and i hope you can get it. let me know how it goes.
Automotive parts are a lot harder to break so dont be afraid to put a bit of force to them.
Spacelion This is all plastic. Every clip in this year's Corolla is extremely easy to break. First-hand experience from swapping the radio.

have you done a vid for changing oil and filter???
I like this. There are a lot of good points you make.
Thank you so much for this video,it really helped me to replace my cabin air filter.
Your videos are awesome! Just as I am about to ask a question, you answer it in the video.
Thank you! That was so helpful. My oil change place wanted about $45 to do this.
Thank you for your video. I need to change it. Toyota serive wants to charge me 88 plus tax. So Thanks for saving me 70 bucks 🙏

You can totally do the job without removing the screw on the glove compartment. I just did it thanks again!!
Want to elaborate on how?
Great video, my AC is working 1000x better!!! Thank you!
Thank you helping me with this! Got it done today with your help. 😁
My auto dealer wanted to charge $70.00 for this! I bought one online for $15.00 and did it myself.
I change mine every year, the engine filter to, I won't bring my car to the garage for easy stuff because that's easy money for them :)
Thanks for showing this. It was very helpful!!
Very Well explained.
Good Vid, keep em coming.
Thank you very much!
Thanks for the video. I had to make sure of the direction of the air flow.
Thanks for watching, I appriciate it!
I decided to put a hepa filter instead of regular. It does a great job of getting all pollen and dust.

Great vid. correct me if im wrong, but i believe the airflow is from bottom to top.

Correct. Airflow is from bottom to top

@@ToddsGarage Yes it was a bit of a drag. Replaced the cabin filter again. No mice. Replacing the engine filter...old mice nest :-(.

How often do you need to replace it?
Toyota recommends to check every 15000 to 25000 miles or 1 time per year. I usually replace mine every 6 months.
Thank you
Thanks hope everything worked out.
Good job

Tip. Don't need any tools just push in both sides of glovebox and push down
