ive seen mushroomhead live 3 times, and they have been extraordinary every time. they are hands down my favorite band of all time. their live show is a theatrical and borderline religious experience if you're into metal

I've been a fan since I was introduced to Mushroomhead back in the very early 2000s. I used to rock this song for my toddler son, and we were throwing up devil horns while headbanging on car rides. Such a fun memory, thanks to Mushroomhead. Watching now!! Thanks for this fellas.

QWERTY was 2014 Mushroomhead, this was 2003, and Bwomp! was 1996. They formed in 1993, before Slipknot.

@@FlyboyHelosim in fairness they weren't slipknot at all until mate.feed.kill.repeat, and they wouldn't become the slipknot that most people know until 1998, whereas mushroomhead was mushroom right from the beginning in 1993, this is why in the late 90's early 2000s there were magazines articles and online discussions about slipknot copying of mushroomhead's general gimmick.
this also during the period when calling something "nu-metal" was often used as an insult, in one case i'm pretty sure slipknot (or at least one of them) said something to the effect of "we're not nu-metal, we're metal metal", the article it was from was one of many comparing them to mushroomhead.

I loved mushroomhead since I first heard solitary unraveling on the radio. But if you want an amazing mushroomhead song check out carry on. I've only seen mushroomhead once at mayhem festival but you can see me in the crowd during the Hartford show. Right side of the stage infront of stitches waterdrum during our apologies.
My nephew got on stage w them in Allentown PA years ago when he was 8 or 9 years old... he was permitted to play the water drums!!
Mushroomhead does a mean cover of "Crazy" by Seal as the last song on their "XIII" album that this song is also on. "Carry On" is another great Mushroomhead song you should do.

Mushroomhead is from Cleveland. Another underrated Cleveland band is Chimaira. They were Nu Metal early on and should have been huge. Check out their song "SP Lit" or "Dead Inside" (the live version from Cleveland is my favorite and not just because I was in the crowd that night)
Such a massively underrated and under appreciated band. Chimaira was the shit and arguably some of the OG pioneers of what’s now considered death core
XIII is an absolute banger from start to finish. The best thing they ever released. Check it out.
XIII is still one of my favorite albums. More so than the albums from other artists mentioned.
Love 30 Days of Night. Highly Under-rated Vampire movie
The Heresy by Mushroomhead is another great song from their last album that has backup vocals done by their former member Jackie LaPonza. I don’t know if y’all have reacted to that one yet but there’s so many great songs from Mushroomhead. Another great song is We Are The Truth.
i met her at one of their live shows with unsaid fate and mushroomhead, she sang with both bands in one show that woman is a goddamned animal and so so nice, i have a photo with her bc she still stayed for autographs and photos.
Their live acts are cool. I saw a cool one where they were in a really small venue, wearing uv masks

I saw mushroomhead many years ago. Was one of the best ones I've seen. This was the lineup: Mushroomhead / Dope / 40 Below Summer / Twisted Method. It was in a tiny club in pioneer square, seattle. Another song you should do it "kill tomorrow".
I used to work as a doorman at Bogarts in Cincinnati Oh, Mushroomhead was there all the time as they are from Clevland Oh. Always put on fun shows, the guys were super chil and would always hang out with the house staff for hours before she shows.

I've seen Mushroomhead in concert 5 times... once at Ozzfest, once at Rockstar Energy Festival, once with Hed PE, once with Raven Black, and once with Ventana and Unsaid Fate. Every show was amazing.
They've gone through a ton of line-up changes over the years, but here's what I always say... it doesn't matter what the line-up is, it always sounds like Mushroomhead.

I had the good fortune to see them live at the last Soundwave festival in Perth, Western Australia. It was glorious. And yes, 30 Days of Night was a pretty damn good movie

I saw Mushroomhead about 8 years ago and it was awesome. One of the members crowd walked on people's hands and was right over me at one point. After the show I got to hang out with Stitch and we had some whiskey at the bar. It was a small venue but everybody was moshing and pogoing
30 Days was a sweet movie
To this day they put on a show as if they were in their prime. Even with all the members that have come and gone, they always had the energy and respect. Y’all gotta check some more tracks out by them for sure!
Mushroomhead are considered early Nu Metal, long before SlipknoT.

2 years is not long before my friend, they literally were still playing at small parties and clubs when Slipknot was blowing up in the mid-late 90’s, even with a 2 year head start they still didn’t get close to as popular as Slipknot bc they aren’t as musically talented as Slipknot. I’m not hating on Mushroomhead either, I’m a fan of theirs and I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio in the 90’s and early 2000’s, but objectively speaking Mushroomhead isn’t on Slipknot or Mudvaynes level, which really pains me to say bc ya know, fuck Iowa and Illinois. I will admit they’re fs better Korn, Limp Bizkit, POD, Linkin Park, Ill Nino, Drowning Pool, SOAD, Disturbed and any other 90’s Nu-Metal band not named Slipknot or Mudvayne.

@@Bignuts13 what are considered are the first official releases and Mushroomhead was very important in nu metal, but not recognized, just as the band Necrophagia was the first to make Death Metal but is not recognized

Been to many Mushroomhead shows. They have played my city a lot over the years since they’re from Cleveland and I live in Toledo. They always put on a damn good show and “Solitaire/Unraveling” is their best song. They have seemed to be pretty inactive since 2020 but they have some shows lined up this year so hopefully they start getting back out there more
I've seen mushroomhead twice, most recently last October. It is an amazing experience! Definitely go see them if you get a chance to!

They do Nu-Metal and Alternative Metal. You can pick almost ANY Mushroomhead song and you'll likely love it! At least 40 excellent tracks by them! Even their chill songs are enjoyable. I actually enjoy them more than Slipknot now.
A homeboy of mine handed me a cassette copy of Mushroomhead's album Superbuick at a skateboard ramp and told me to put it on
It was immediately clear that people paid attention to Faith No More's album Angel Dust. Superbuick is still one of my favorite metal albums

The name Maggot comes from Clown from Slipknot he thought of how the crowd moved like maggots from deer corpses that he used to see and I think photograph then it became a metaphorical term for saying that Slipknot is music for the maggots of the world who when they grow up fly away and bring back another swarm of maggots.
Mushroomhead is my favorite out of the 3. I've seen them live probably about 15 times. Great show every time. I agree you guys gotta do solitare unraveling next. That and Bwomp Is what got me hooked.

I love this song so much, you guys have got to check out Solitaire Unraveling too for me it's their magnum opus.
I dont know the history of how the bamd got its name but their former bassist used to also wear a pig mask like Slipknot. His stage name was Pig Benis....flip the first two letters and you guys could be spot on with your interpretation of how the name came to be
Other interesting side note, the original lyric paper for their song "43" is hanging in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
This was Mushroomhead's best album, I think, but they bring back a LOT of memories.
When this came out, I was 18, just gettin' to know my ex-wife, "Freddy v. Jason" had just come out (this was on the soundtrack), and a band I was frontin' played the small but locally famous Peabody's in Cleveland (RIP) all the time. They headlined those shows a lot, and are from my area.

In my early metal days (I’m 52) it was all about devil worship, so we latched onto that perception. You think we’re Devil worshippers? Okay, I’m wearing every Iron Maiden t-shirt I have. Mainstream society views metal, new metal, and similar genres as detestable, screaming, visceral nonsense with the worth and attraction of a pile of insects or maggots. I've seen them twice. They aren't going to sell out an arena as a headliner, because for whatever reason, they don't have as many fans as Slipknot. That said, the show was great. 2 words: Water Drums.
If you want a different spin on MRH, you need to go back and check out the earlier stuff, specifically Superbuick and M3. They were heavily influenced by FNM early in their career. You go also go on a huge tangent with all the various side projects; (216), Tenafly Viper, Pitch Black Forecast, The Alter Boys, and 10000 Caddilacs.

I used to love Mushroomhead but a lot of core members have left over the years and to me they are no longer the same.
Always love this song. One of their best in my opinion.
However, would love to see you guys react to more Infected Mushroom. Little song called "Animatronica." Different vibe from "Heavyweight" but still captures that mindset. "Smashing the Opponent" would be a good one, too.

Mushroomhead was always accused of ripping offslipknot, but Mushroomhead was doing show in Ohio years before slipknot. Then slipknot was accused of ripping off Mushroomhead but attest they never saw any of the early Mushroomhead sets
