Great build! I would like to make one myself. FYI, as a long time pet sitter, the World's Best is a fantastic litter. I've found that if you have a big container like the one that you are using, put about 3/4 of the 15 lb. bag in and add a scoopful now and then to keep it up. Try it and you won't be sorry. No scraping it off the bottom or the scooper anymore.

I just always freak out when people don't put much litter at all because I know how uncomfortable that can be for cats and even cause behavioral broblems sometimes 😅😔
Thank you 🥰 This is actually the right amount of litter for the type I use. Because it’s corn based, it’s lighter and more absorbent, so with this amount pee clumps don’t reach the bottom but it’s still solid enough to walk on. If I put more, my lady kitties struggle to walk on it 😉 I totally get where you’re coming from though ❤️🐈⬛

I came "this close" to doing this myself for my kitty! However I ended up finding a very cool rattan chest with a flip up lid instead that worked wonderfully. However, I still have that Hol chest, which is now my coffee table!
your cat is beautiful. I am a long time fan of litterboxes hidden inside furniture. I have always lived in small apartments. my cats first hidden litterbox was in an octagonal coffee table/hutch that I found on the side of the road. Recently my husband built a window seat which hides our cats' litterbox. Occasionally at Christmas my kids comment that their presents are arranged overtop this litterbox. oh well, tiny living, what can I say?
This added some features to the hack I've seen before of this litter box! I like it. Also, I wonder if you could put holes on both sides (as some people are worried about cats not liking to be trapped). I wish I could do this IKEA hack but Ikea Canada no longer sells HOL.
You’re welcome ☺️ I recommend you check out my video on my smell free litter box routine and “secret” 😉 I keep my litter box in my dining room right now, and nobody who comes over can tell that it’s a litter box 😉
@@autumnstoptwo honestly, because I use a tall sided plastic box, there’s no leaks 😏 but if you plan on using a lower sided litter box then it might be a good idea 😊
I love this. We’re down to one very ancient cat and he has a created toilet area for his box as well as a heated two level kitty bedroom ( cat sized and in the basement , he’s indoors ). This I will definitely do because his enormous litter box and litter box “ room” looks sloppy and I made it cutting and pricing together cardboard over his box. He’s an over the top of any box but wont jump into or use a top entry kinda beastie cat. I love love love this! I did learn to place the little into the center only of a little box to minimize him spraying the sides door and top as well and keep kicking inside the box btw.
Awww ancient cats are lovely! Since he’s old and probably has some arthritis slowing him down, you can make the entry deeper than mine, so it goes to the flow and he doesn’t have to lift his paws as much to go inside 😉 and yes, the tall litterbox is a must, especially with kittyscapers 😉
I have this exact box for the same purpose however, I have a very large cat who is weak on his back legs so I actually lined the box with some left over vinyl flooring and the whole box itself is the litter tray. I can fill it with a lot of deep litter and he has plenty of room to move around. Before this I was struggling to get him to use a tray.
Great video and exactly what I was looking for! Now, if I can only find a storage coffee table like that! The links only led me to Ikea, and I can't find one of those coffee tables...
Loved it! Just to note, (my cat has cistitis and i worry too much about his comfort) Cats need a lot more sand depth than the one you set up for yours. At least 4 inches. And of course they need more than one litter box.
Glad to hear it (that you liked it) 😊 i use a corn-based litter, so I cannot put the standard 4 inch layer, the litter is light and it’s like quicksand if it’s too deep 😉
They’re called Tongue-and-groove pliers or simply pump pliers. Some people refer to them as Channellock pliers, which is actually a brand name. Awesome video. I’m definitely making one. Thanks for the inspiration.
Cool, thank you for sharing! I definitely love them, they come in so handy! Glad you liked it, share the photo of your version with me when you get it done 😊
I like the outer part of this a lot! To hide the litter tray but still provide airflow is amazing! The inner box is not ideal imho, because cats like to cover their poo sorrowly, which is much harder for them with such a high litter tray that hinders free movement. Also some (for example elderly cats) might need a lower rim to hold onto while doing their business. I'd recommend a normal shallow tray for the above reasons. Other than that, amazing idea!
I totally agree on the elderly cat modification! I like the high walls because one of my kitties is a dedicated litter-scaper and her litter sculptures would end up all outside the litterbox 😂
Very clever idea, and it looked so aesthetic! Most important thing is to allow them to turn around to give more space inside.. Really enjoyed watching it and also love your choice of backsound though.. Like you're saying "it's all for youu.. I did everything for youu kitty cat" 😂💙 Hope your furry friends are always healthy and happy!
Could I ask, why is the hole into the litter box the same size as the cat flap? Why not make it bigger? Wondering if my cat would like this set up, as she will not use her current, open litter tray for poos, only urine.
Hi Yael, It's a habit of mine t make it that size. I make it as small as possible because my ladies like to dig, so I minimize the mount of litter that gets thrown out. If you try it, do let me know how it goes, my ladies really liked it 😊
i like it very much and it gives me an idea on how to have a good litter box that my kitties will not spill the sand after they do pee or make business....thanks
Thank you 🥰 for the wood I used a jigsaw, but in this piece of furniture the wood is so thin a simple small hand saw would do. For the plastic tub this time I used a dremel, while other times I have used a utility knife and heated the blade on the stove of my previous apartment… which worked a lot better, actually 😉
One time I cut out one whole side of one of those large Ikea plastic boxes … with a cutter that I heated with a candle, because I had no fancy tool. Never again. Works well as a cat feeding station however.
@@MicolAndOtherAnimals It was not exactly repurposing 🤫 I bought it for that reason. I cut 2 boxes. The smaller had thinner plastic, that was okay. The big one made my hands hurt. Your litterbox is as beautiful as a litterbox can be btw. Would you tell me the measurements of it and the size of the cat? Because I have a laundrybox that looks just like the table, but my cats are Maine Coons and I think they would not fit in there.
Awww thank you 🥰 Mine is 57cm on the long side. It’s an IKEA Samla plastic tote. Honestly, with Maine Coons I would go a bit bigger actually, but it depends on the actual size of your cats 😊

Hi Zarianna! My litter box doesn’t smell, so I really haven’t had any issues and don’t foresee any over time, even if the wood is untreated. 😊
Oh, that's great! Thanks, I appreciate your reply
You’re welcome ☺️ I recommend you check out my video on my smell free litter box routine and “secret” 😉 I keep my litter box in my dining room right now, and nobody who comes over can tell that it’s a litter box 😉
someone else mentioned lining the bottom with linoleum in case anything spills so that could mitigate the issue as well!
@@autumnstoptwo honestly, because I use a tall sided plastic box, there’s no leaks 😏 but if you plan on using a lower sided litter box then it might be a good idea 😊
Great and stylish idea!
Thank you Enikö ☺️
MERAVIGLIOSA IDEA!
Grazie mille 🥰
BEST ONE I SEEN SO FAR GREAT IDEA THUMBS UP
Thank you 😊 glad you liked it 😊
I have this exact box for the same purpose however, I have a very large cat who is weak on his back legs so I actually lined the box with some left over vinyl flooring and the whole box itself is the litter tray. I can fill it with a lot of deep litter and he has plenty of room to move around. Before this I was struggling to get him to use a tray.
Genius Diy design
Thank you 😊 glad you liked it!
This is such a beautiful and practical litter box! Thanks for sharing :-)
Glad you liked it Alexia! I think Marco deserves his own 😜
You can use a woodburning tool to cut out the hole in the plastic too 👍🏽
Good idea, definitely!
i might have to make this, it’s amazing
Glad you liked it ☺️
Great video and exactly what I was looking for! Now, if I can only find a storage coffee table like that! The links only led me to Ikea, and I can't find one of those coffee tables...
This is cool ! Thanks for sharing.
You’re most welcome 🥰
Second video I've watched, second one I've loved. Following :)
Oh thank you 😊 welcome!!!
My kitty prefers a shallow depth of litter.
Thank you for sharing Diane 😊 mine are big diggers, but don’t like to Sind into the litter😅
Супер и восторг. И главное, котейка заценила)))
Thank you Helen! 😊 and yes, the kitty seal of approval is necessary 😉
This was awesome! What a pity IKEA as discontinued this coffee table 🥲
I know right? But you can do the same with the IKEA ÄPPLARÖ bench 😉
It's back in stock
Awww .THAT S SO SWEET!
Thank you ☺️
I like the outer part of this a lot!
@@MicolAndOtherAnimals 😂😂😂 they all have their specialties when it comes to their business, too funny!
I used the same litter box for more than ten years. It's perfect for my littlel house
It’s pretty awesome, isn’t it?
Hello, fantastic idea
Thank you Daniele ☺️ my lady kitties seem to like it 😊
Love your idea! 🙀😽😻
Thank you Gina ☺️
You, my dear, are genius ❤️
Thank you! 😍
Good idea!
Thank you ☺️
Thank you for this video! 😀💐
You’re welcome Myriako ☺️
Excellent, lucky cats
Thank you 😊 they are special, so I try to make them feel that way. Of course, they’re cats, so they know it 😂
That's a very nice project ❤️
Thank you 😊 glad you enjoyed it, my lady kitties really like it!
Loved this! Great job.
Thank you ☺️ glad you liked it 😊
I need this!! I had a previous cat litter cabinet that was too closed off and dark. I can’t find that coffee table in the US Ikeas though 😭
Ingenious, thank you
You’re welcome 😊
Hermoso video! Admiro una joven y linda mujer habil con el DIY. Solo una critica: me dio impresion verla usar herramientas electricas DESCALZA! 😮
Love the idea! Maybe I can do this at some point for my rabbits 😍 There’s always hay everywhere, maybe that will limit it 😆
That’s sounds great! Tag me on IG if you do! I had a rabbit when I was a little 😉🐰
Oh that's a good coffee table! Moving it into the centre of the room. Oh no!!
Then during the coffee party your cat sees it's litter box and uses it.
😂 it's in my dining room and since there's no smell, guests seems to be amused more than anything 😂
Hu! Thats really nice!
Thank you ☺️ glad you liked it 😊
So cute!
Oh thank you 😊
good nice idea
Thank you Fara ☺️
The tools are called tongue and groove channel pliers but better known as channellocks.
oh awesome, THANK YOU 🤩 I always wondered! I suddenly feel a lot more qualified to do these hacks! Now if I could just drill straight... 🤣
Awesome!
Loved the idea so much!!!!
Thank you ☺️ 1 year in and I am still loving it 😊
Very clever idea, and it looked so aesthetic! Most important thing is to allow them to turn around to give more space inside..
Really enjoyed watching it and also love your choice of backsound though.. Like you're saying "it's all for youu.. I did everything for youu kitty cat" 😂💙 Hope your furry friends are always healthy and happy!
Oh you caught that 😍 that’s exactly why I chose that song for the video! 🥰
If you try it, do let me know how it goes, my ladies really liked it 😊
Great idea.
Glad you liked it ☺️
Muito obrigada pela ideia 💡.
Seu cabelo está muito bonito
Gracias 😎
Amazing! 😍
Thank you 🤩
i like it very much and it gives me an idea on how to have a good litter box that my kitties will not spill the sand after they do pee or make business....thanks
yes exactly! I was so frustrated with having to clean up so much litter from outside the box... but no more 😉
Great job I love it!
Glad you like it 😊 so do my lady kitties 🥰
Genius 🐈🎉
Aww thank you ☺️
Great video! What was the type of cutter you used to cut the wood and plastic?
Thank you 🥰 for the wood I used a jigsaw, but in this piece of furniture the wood is so thin a simple small hand saw would do. For the plastic tub this time I used a dremel, while other times I have used a utility knife and heated the blade on the stove of my previous apartment… which worked a lot better, actually 😉
Awesome 👏🏻👍🏻🐱
Thank you 🥰
Приятно видеть, когда у человека руки из правильного места растут.
oh thank you 😊
This is super clever!
So glad you liked it! I have really enjoyed having the litter box hidden but still in a handy place for daily cleaning 😉
Great idea!
Thank you guys 😊
One time I cut out one whole side of one of those large Ikea plastic boxes … with a cutter that I heated with a candle, because I had no fancy tool.
Never again. Works well as a cat feeding station however.
That’s exactly what I did for my first one 😊 but it worked well for me 😂 glad you were able to repurpose it 😉
@@MicolAndOtherAnimals It was not exactly repurposing 🤫 I bought it for that reason.
@@MicolAndOtherAnimals And how long is the wooden box on the outside?
98cm x 50cm 😉
Hello I really like the idea. Could you tell me the ikea name of the coffee table you used? Thanks!
Glad you like it! You can use two IKEA coffee tables for this. Both are linked in the description 😎
