The main message is about men not putting effort into showing that they like their partners..not about money. The guy who doesn't do any romance on VDay is probably not going be romantic on other days. Yes!! I'm living in Italy. San Valentino was a Bishop. He Performed Wedding ceremonies when it was banned. He was executed 14th of February. It's a Real holiday.

@@KarenInUSA The thing is that many people have ad-blockers installed, which defeats the purpose of the ads in the first place. However, you can't do the same for clicks. I would like to just have full episodes of shows here on RUclips, but it also defeats the purpose of them airing on TV.

Every holiday is commercialized but I do not believe that Valentine’s Day is more commercialized than Christmas.

Some people just don’t like Valentines Day... I’ll be DAMNED if I let one day determine whether or not s person truly loves me or not... I’m not gonna do th same generic stuff every year getting you candies , flowers and etc. just cuz this day tells me to... if I love you Valentine’s Day is gon be EVERY DAY and not just on a commercialized holiday where we get played out of our money!!! You can write a genuine poem... get some rose petals , massage your woman’s feet , run a bubble bath... Netflix and chill... hell make a meal!!! It’s the little genuine things that matter!!!

The reason men hate valentines day is that it's all about men having to prove themselves and show effort. Women aren't expected to do anything for the day, they just have expectations to receive something.

Valentine's day is overrated. It's not even a holiday. Why do we need a day to show love to someone? That should happen everyday. And totally agree with Adrienne, you don't need materials to show love. It's actions and words. An EVERYDAY thing, not 1 day.
I'm not big on these holidays anymore either. As you mature, you see all of those things differently. In my opinion, you should show the people you love that you love them everyday, not just Valentine's day. I'm with Jeanine and the ladies on the effort part. It doesn't have to be an expensive gift, but simple things.

This year money has been tight for my man. My birthday is early Feb and he got me a Dyson hairdryer but didn't get me a thing for valentine's day. I got a home-cooked meal(he always cooks) and let me tell you, I appreciate all he does. I don't need gifts to feel loved, all I need is his love. That should be enough.

My man HATES VALENTINES DAY and I mean HATEEEEE it😂. But me? I LOVE Valentine's Day because growing up I had very strict Asian Tiger parents & I wasnt allowed to have a bf until after I graduate. So I've always envy my friend who would have dates, gifts or something on that day. I've always wanted to experience that for myself because never had a valentine's day before. He knows this, his also my first bf. But despite the fact that we're currently LDR because of the pandemic & the fact that he hates that day, he still manage to surprise me. He sent me a package 12 packs of different kinds of chocolate. Kitkat mini pack, toblerone mini pack, Ferero, cadbury big bar & many more. It arrived the day before Vday & on the morning of Vday he sent me a bouquet of pink flowers. Knowing that pink is my fav color along with an online love letter that he wrote. Despite the fact that he hates that day for being so commercialized because he love me he still made it a point to make it special for me.

My parents never celebrated valentines day. They said that since its so commercialized it takes the fun out of it. They went out once, it was SO overpriced and SO crowded they were smashed into a little closet and couldn't enjoy themselves. Also, i like spontaneity, so I think the feeling of expectation and feeling forced to do something takes the romance out of it. I think loni is right!

My partner and I are from different countries and he doesn’t celebrate western holidays. Which is fine if it’s not my birthday then I don’t care for them either nor do I expect grand gestures. The only thing that annoys me is others saying or reacting to how much effort he puts and the assumption that our love and how much he cares is less based on what he does on these days. He does more than enough in general

My boyfriend’s birthday is 3 days after Valentine’s Day. We’ve been together for almost 4 years and living together for 3.5 years of that. Only one of us is working right now, and we cherish the small things and spend time together. We always have been that way. He’s still my Valentine, and that’s all that matters to me.

Not sure why there is a discussion about whether or not you should celebrate Valentines Day. Every single holiday is commercialized. On Christmas, if you get nothing it's a big deal but on a holiday that expresses love it's "no big deal" to recieve nothing. You don't need a Cartier bracelet to celebrate. It's a fun lighthearted day to show the one you love/like that they care about you. As my favorite valentine card I used to get as a kid says... *"I CHOO CHOO YOU!"*
